    Mad props to Tony Cliffe. He's becoming a Masters lifter next year and is still getting better and better, while also competing in equipped. Can't wait to see him break Masters records next year.

      you are in the world championship and there is 16% difference between the 1st and the 14th ==> Nothing shocks you ?
      The 100th world is a 0 and the THE BEGINNER IS NEGATIVE WEIGHT ?
      in women it is much worse because the difference is 40% between the 1st and the 14th ==> 40% in the world championship

      @@morphilou what does that have to do with me showing support to Tony? I don't care if he's on PEDs I just want to see some heavy lifting. Also only 2 people per country can compete in a weight class. If you could have 10 lifters representing the same country per weight class I bet that percentage would be different.

    what does chip mean? i hear the casters mentioning a chip a lot regarding world records

    • @MimiFrank
      @MimiFrank 11 месяцев назад +5

      Typically, athletes need to select attempts in 2.5 kg increments. If someone is attempting a world record, they can take a 0.5 kg jump to “chip” a record. That 0.5 kg is called a chip.

    • @forestgirl4071
      @forestgirl4071 11 месяцев назад

      @@MimiFrank Agreed. And the 0.25 and 0.5 kg discs can only be used if the attempt is to break or tie a world or national record. Otherwise, the lowest disc that can be used is 1.25 kg.

    The IPF must do the drug test on a regular basis. It’s so easy to get away with. Even in the olympic lifting, more than half of the people use drugs. That’s why weightlifting might disappear from the Olympic sports as well.

    • @fluffynpact

      These athletes are tested and have to fill forms everytime they train, and can be visited for a test every day.

    I am guessing one of the only reasons world strongmen aren't in this competition is because they are focused on max weight, and not really focusing on healthy body weight?

    • @tonyha9059
      @tonyha9059 Год назад +5

      Drugs is another, these guys are randomly tested alllll the time. There are many RUclips channels of lifters talking about it.

    • @felixloiseau828
      @felixloiseau828 Год назад +4

      I mean here there are weight classes, most strong men are over these bodyweights. Also powerlifter specifically train for this 3 specific lifts while strongmen dont so they wouldnt stand much of a chance not playing their own game

    • @fluffynpact
      @fluffynpact Год назад +3

      @@felixloiseau828 Most strong men aren't over, there is 120+ class. Strongmen can compete and some already did, but they have to get used to the powerlifting rules that are different. A huge training for that is required because strong men never use bars like power do.

    • @samscherer4100
      @samscherer4100 Год назад +4

      Its more because strongman is a different sport. The only similar event is the max deadlift, even then they use deadlift suits, straps and allow hitching

    • @infiniteaaron
      @infiniteaaron Год назад +1

      @@felixloiseau828 Interesting. Thank you for the information! I still think it would be pretty cool to see one of the strongmen compete in this. It may even improve their strongman competitions, I feel.
