"Have lunch before you start." Best advise I have ever heard. Sleep in. Have the morning off....
Drink water is probably the best advice I've gotten. You can completely forget to stay hydrated by becoming hyper focused on the job
Yep. In winter it seems harder to stay hydrated... you're not sweating but your mind goes foggy.
In Texas during the summer it’s the opposite, because the mornings are nice and cool… get up early, call it quits by 3pm, and drink plenty of water. Not all days work out that way.
That bird flying around. !! Made Jess's segment a dysney princess 😅
Love your videos we really enjoy them 😊 Thank you for all your content.
@@Roarwind i was building a pergola this past weekend and it happened to me. started 10 am with food and water, but finished at 5pm, no lunch or water. i only stopped because of rain, and only felt the fatigue and hunger AFTER.
“The box is nice and square” … they got a freebie ad reference there!!
Every time he said square (which was quite a few times) I thought it was an ad pivot
Omg that would of been epic if there was an ad ‘nice and square’😅
Agreed. They definitely missed out on a golden opportunity, but hey, we still all thought about them when Scott got his square on.
Can’t wait for the furniture era of the channel 🎉
Be careful Scott!! I made my first chair and was so pleased with it I made bar stools for the kitchen counter and covered the chair seat and bar stools in the same fabric. Everyone liked it so much I now want change the counter into an island (no fabric). It just keeps going!! 🤣
The look on Jess's face as you're about to fire that first nail in...classic 😅😂
'I think i'll go and put some safety glasses on' ... those won't do much good Jess!
Chair looks fantastic - just 3 more and 2 carvers to make for a dining room set!!
Painter here , I was drinking a cup of tea when the spraying began - noooooo to fast slow down 😀 and you spray the water into a bucket on low pressure until paint comes out but remove the spray tip first as it wears the tip out 👌
Disney paints buildings and walls a green like that.. they call it "go away green"
Disney green is a few shades lighter, but exactly what I was thinking when I watching.
The square bit would’ve been perfect to insert square space ad 😂
So glad you're rested! The advice to eat first, build plans and the darker fence makes huge sense, I never would have thought of that. Your chair is a work of art, simply amazing. Your channel has been very inspirational. BTW #LetJessBeHerself no doubt you agree, she's awesome :)
I didn’t start watching your channel because it was a building channel. I was trying to find out how to replace weatherboards in NZ when I came across you. If you put building furniture in your channel, great! I may need to know how to do that one day. I like your style and content, so where you go; I will follow.
I'm planting on those hills next week!
Chair turned out incredibly! I’m a big fan of Mid Century Modern architecture, furniture, and overall style. I feel like I see some of that in you and Jess’ taste as well. Keep doing you.
Great to have you back Scott! The painted fences look good Jess, the cabinets look good Scott & Ray. The upholstered chair looks complete and sits well in your house too. Well done SBC!😎
Nice one!
Your learning just what you need to build your own furniture Scott, design, drawings, machining, fit and finish. Thanks for the latest exciting episode.👍👍
FYI- There is glue especially for laminated board (melamine). Works really well, looks like a watery wood pva.
Good work on the chair brother.
Cool Video Scott I love the reflective thoughts by the see side. Nice pile of mulch to.
That skylight is amazing! It makes such a difference in the house.
I love this channel. The vibe, music choices always 💯, showing the real-life problems that pop up in woodworking mid project and how you fix them. Breaks between projects, shop banter, lots of different tools but always the right one for the job. Always look forward to new a video drop. PS the chair is modern, minimalist, and beautiful!
Love the green velvet
I got to admit, whilst I appreciated the change in pace with the chair building, for some reason i really really really enjoy your house renovations videos!!
Hope you turn it into a bit of a furniture making channel once the house is finished mate
Great to see the garden taking shape and the beautiful City of Nelson I can see why tou moved there. Cheers
When you cut your benchtop, turn it upside down and cut it from the bottom. If you get any chips, it'll be in the bottom and not the face!
I njoyed this episode so much i was ni its finished already. Hope you show us more furniture building inbetween. That was fascinating the garden is gna look soo good. Jealous of that steamy pile of garden matter. Parenting is the biggest job in the world. 😂
Just need to make 3, 5 or 7 more chairs. Then build a pimp table to compliment to chairs. Love your work !
So now the answer to "do the cushions match the drapes?" is yes.
Nice idea painting the fence to sort of blend into the garden/surroundings. My fence is black and it cooks the plants a bit during summer
I'm definitely okay with seeing whatever you build because it's always fun and educational and just fun!!!!!! To watch you build and learn how you do it I'm a carpenter by trade out in Canada and primarily I was a framer I framed houses and I just started with a general contractor company everyday there's something new to learn it's not just framing sometimes it's pushing a broom sometimes it's actually helping other trades it's always fun it's always something new and so watching you and seeing how you do things is also really really fun
Fence looks really nice love the paint colour😀Chair looks comfortable great job on the upholestery
Furniture making for the house seems like an amazing next step for this channel!
Scott, we might be able to assist you with a stainless steel benchtop for your laundry.
One thing you find useful for protecting cast iron surfaces is magnetic sheet material. I’ve found it really helpful in my shop. I ordered a roll off Amazon and cut a little oversized. It protects the top from humidity but also if it’s being used as a work surface.
That’s ‚go away green‘ as used in Disney parks .. nice choice
Came here to post the same thing.
5 more chairs and a table to go Scott
Nice chair, now 3 more and a couple of carvers!
Scott and Jess, you could have any type of channel, I'd still watch😊 the fence looks great!
Proper skiver 😀. Glad you're back to the house renovation.
*Kia ora Scott, you now have to make 5 more chairs to go around the table that you are going to be making. 🙂 Looking forward to seeing the laundry room being made and set up upon completion. 🙂NZ*
Bring on the cabinet and furniture era!
beginning to see a theme with the color green. thanks for sharing guys
Glad to hear youre rested and back! I love the house reno videos!!!!
I love New Zealand 🇳🇿 choice landscape shots guys!!
That chair is a family heirloom. With the laundry being all white it should help brighten it up, being on the dark side of the house.
Ray is back.....whoop! Whoop! :) East Canada
Yes Nelson looks stunning!
This is the best channel on RUclips by far!!!!!!!!!!!1
Chair looks really nice Scott!! Bravo!
I would love to watch you put out furniture builds for your home!
I've been a joiner all my working life retired now but you never stop learning
Now to make 5 more of that chair Scott!!
Beautiful work. A bit of advice: when you are fastening your cabinet panels with the finish nail gun, if the nail bends and blows out of the panel, it almost always does so at a right angle to the long axis of the gun (the nails blow out sideways). Thus, you are much better off holding your gun perpendicular to the axis of the panel edge, so if there is a blowout, it will be in the edge direction and will not blow out of the the face of the panel (usually). I hope that makes sense.
I'd love to see more furniture making from you! I'm here for it!
Scotty you’re a bloody legend, mate. Inspiring
Really like the new fence color. 👍
The fence looks awesome, Jess. Thank you and have a good day.
Great exciting episode ❤
I love the color for the fence! It's perfect!
please god let the sbc merch come back, i need that hoodie
chair is wicked nice, would love to have a dining room set of those
Another week and another fantastic video. Keep up the good work team.
If you are looking to do more mortise and tenon joinery for a house full of furniture you might want into look into getting a Pantorouter. It makes replicating joints easy and very accurate.
Excited to see how the laundry turns out
"A sharp pencil, a sharp mind"
Hi Scott, great to see you back, missed your skills
mat Black Fence makes ya plant visually ..... PoP ... Glad you had a good one Sott ... chairs stunning ...
peace
Damn, love the house, doing a good job.
Beautiful chair 🤌
Glad you had some rest, but im glad to have u back. I need to watch ur videos so my work day goes by faster 😂😂
Love the content :) I can see you are really enjoying it 🎉
these are great, you guys are great
Good to see you back on, it's seems you have developed, looking forward to Ur next venture...👍
When I did my cabinets, where I ordered the planks, they also provide services to cut them down to size (each cut being $1) Since cabinets usually comes in standard sizes. That helps me a lot.. my full time job is a software engineer. ;)😅
8:51 - my brain "to our sponsor......" 😂
G,day Scott Brown Carpentry from Sydney Australia.
Pro tips
* Flat paint stirring sticks
* For large buckets of paint, metal or plastic fan stirrers for cordless or power drill.
*Cabinet construction: as well as nails, two 6# 1 1/2 inch posi drive screw. I like this method especially when transporting and lifting.
* Turn your mulch piles every two weeks, and don't let them get "soggy wet"
🌏🇦🇺
So glad to see you slowly turning to the light regarding CNC processing Scott. I am surprised it took you so long with so many prompts from not only myself but others as well. Keep up the great work . i look forward to your content each week (or thereabouts ). I am so looking forward to your proposed dining table build.
glad it's started back up
Try the new festool saw with a scribe... Unless you have a scribe on your saw. Great for clean cut with no blow out.
"but, can he (mis)place a comma?" 😄
Hmmm. 5 more chairs and two captain’s chairs to go!
Definitely a good idea making your own furniture, you seriously can't find modern furniture that is real anymore, well unless you spend thousands, but furniture these days is mostly All fake, usually laminated particle board the better stuff is still veneered MDF.
even if you made it using veneered plywood, you will be getting far better quality than what you pay thousands of dollars for at the retailer.
One down, five more to go, to go with the new dinning room table. 🤪 Waiting.......
the video makes me feel nice and like everything is nice in the world :-)
I painted my fences black, the green of the plants really pop next to it
11:38 Yes, we remember when you tried cutting tin with it and wondering why it was so useless.
I thought a rest meant a few months:) Great to see your videos popping up so soon!
Scott you need a domino for cabinets and for a table, unless you are going to do a floating tenon by hand
it is very strange that we starting our summer up north and you are very winterish-looking
nice !!!
Wanted to see what type of screws you used to hold the boxes together. Love your work
Yo Scott 🤙
Greetings From East Texas! I want one of those hoodies!
Cold 😂😂😂😂😂 10°c
Man do I miss fall (an American in a sweltering summer)
That “can they hang a door?” Hoodie is the best. Do you sell that?
“This cabinet is nice and square” said no commercial kitchen fitter ever
You just need seven more chairs to go around your diningroom table. Get to it!
The CNC doesn't really cut sheet goods any faster. It's the loading and unloading of materials that eats up the time. Using your track saw and table saw would be just as fast once you have the cutting diagrams for the sheet goods.
I disagree entirely . As a cabinetmaker for almost 40 years, i have seen the gradual transition to machining of just about all board components with a CNC. Not only is it significantly quicker, yield per sheet is improved with optimisation automatically taken care of and waste is reduced as a result.
This.
Can you get Jess to sing "Pocketful of Sunshine
- Natasha Bedingfield". Reminded me of Emma Stone in Easy A
Sending good vibes from Queensland!
