With all the craziness in the world this channel is like a beautiful oasis.
Agree
Absolutely
And could be a life saver if the store”s close Down
9 months old and this still holds true
Totally agree. Feel good video for sure.
My girlfriend and I often fall asleep listening to your knowledge and wisdom. It's like a dad telling us a bed time story. We always wake up refreshed wanting to plant. 🤭
Does anybody else find these videos to be oddly calming? This guy has the best attitude I just want to be his friend lol
That little frog sitting peacefully on top of that lemon, what a sight
That frog on the lemon, at 1:22, is just the cutest thing ever! Here on Canada’s West Coast, there are a few lemon trees which survive, in sheltered spots, but container growing is the best way!
i haven't had the luck to find a tree frog yet in my yard but years ago i found a green, im guessing garden snake is what most call them, plain green, small, in my garden once, it was way back then when i was a kid so i did not have a camera lol old days. but i left em alone... any idea on how to attract them to the gardens more?
kevin esposito that’s a common grass snake if it’s green; like green as grass.
Frogs would be awesome to keep the pests away, I would love them to live in my garden lol
@@kevinesposito1693 make yourself like a 3‘ x 3 foot hole, line it and fill with water. I did that and I had tadpoles the next year and snakes swimming in it. It’s that simple to attract them.
It’s crazy to know that these lemon trees just grow in the wild!!! Really beautiful lemon trees!
When life gives you lemons
Grow them in a pot. 🍋
😆
did somebody say grow pot? :D
@@justinheads5751 that's ILLEGAL

@@bonazza4476 depends where you live but I wouldn't recommend it
I can confirm the Lemon blossoms are surprisingly fragrant. You'll get far more blossoms than fruit so pulling some off won't hurt your production. I haven't tried it but thinking about crushing a blossom and putting it in a cup of hot tea.
It makes me happy to see you have frogs out there. ❤ There aren't many around here anymore ☹
Just as I think about waiting for a lemon tree, this video shows up in my feed. I'm getting a Eureka.
A friend gave me a great tea recipe...I have been drinking for years...a few lemon leaves, cinnamon, ginger and mint...yum
I have too agree 100% with your 5 reasons to grow a Lemon tree. I am in SoCal and we have a Lisbon Lemon variety in our yard. This tree is at least 60 years old and is large and as healthy as any tree half its age. We can harvest a 5 gal bucket every 2 or 3 days just by giving the branches a good shake, if ripe, the lemons just fall right off. We have many neighbors who come by for a bag full on a weekly schedule. We squeeze a lemon, add some dill pickle juice with V-8 tomato juice as a refreshing tonic.

@@shawtop Can you stop promoting your channel on someone else's? It's just a dick move.
Vodka too right
Sounds like a magic lemon tree you have there! All the best :)
Mark, that tree is a true blessing that's for sure. And, I understand that the Lisbon Lemon Variety is originally from Australia ! ! ! Really love all your gardening videos and excellent tips, keep up the Great Work.
I just recently bought 5 half wine barrels (150 litre capacity) got 15 50 kg casters (swivel wheels) from Bunnings and fitted them to the base of the barrels. Now we have 5 movable plant pots containing dwarf fruit trees and Blueberries, each weighing about 130 kilos and they move easily about and the casters lock so they don't roll away. :)
I was not getting the vitamin C I needed, so, I have a big water bottle. I started squeezing 1 lemon into my water. I also got a new dog, so potty training walking, with my lemon water, I lost 30 pounds, in 1 year. No other exercise, just walking. I keep trying to grow from seed, cuz I have millions of em!! I will keep in a pot now, and see if indoor or outdoor is best. Hot, hot summers, cold winters, I will keep trying!! I have 2 cuttings of a lemon tree, put it in a aloe vera pocket, in a pot with dirt, will see if it roots, the rose cutting is working, that way!!
We in the Caribbean I brought some grafted trees to lant in containers bro
I appreciate you and your puns .
That frog was honestly the cutest thing I’ve ever seen omg
Yeah, we have Yuzu here in Japan. Very unique but great flavor.
Yuzu juice, honey, and a bit of hot water makes a great winter drink.
Thank you for those of us that live in apartments ❣️
I love how those frog shots are like humble brags. Like, "look at my beautiful lemon trees - even these cute frogs flock to them".
😄😉
LOVE the little frog ❤️
I built a cubic yard box of pine lumber home made compost and added an in ground small vermi compost bin as a 24 7 fertilizer lemons going crazy
Love my citrus trees, my husband not so much. He hates moving them in and out of the greenhouse, especially the spikey ones😂
Funny that you talk about fruit trees, I have an orange tree in a large pot, it’s as old as me at 50 years old and is a good size, but it has never fruited, it was probably grown from seed , I’ve often thought about grafting onto it with pieces of a known fruiting orange tree, but as yet I haven’t. Now it’s on my list . Oh by the way my wife hates the tree lol, I’ve owned it since 1995 so 25 years, half my life...
I live in southern Ontario Canada, so it lives outside during the summer months and inside during the winter months
cheers
Rob
My mom grew 2 from seed, last time it took 5 years, this time it's 3 years in so far, but we live in tropics.....
Great video mate, thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
Lemon tree should be a standard for every backyard
Ohhh I have 2 yuzu, 1 Meyer, 1 Calamondin & 1 kumquat in pots. Love them all. I enjoyed your video. I do have a big yard now but prefer to keep in pots bc of freezes.

I've got a mandarin, lemonade, and lemon tree all in terracotta pots (I've got my eyes on a pink lemon tree as well lol). We rent in Sydney so its pretty cool we can just pick it up and go. Love to cook with lemons, lemons, parsley, garlic, salt pepper and chicken, delish & simple
I'm in sydney too! How big are you pots for these plants? 40-50cm like he said?
Thats what I love about mine too,I rent in Adelaide and if I ever shift or am lucky enough to buy a home I can just take them with me as well.
We’re out near Picton and the lemon in the pot does better than the one in the ground! Some Yates food twice a year. The pots we have are 50cm wide and 50cm deep squares.
@Loyal and Faithful yep a lemonade tree, it's a cross between lemon & mandarin
@@ellorawilson1240 I actually got the largest pots I could afford at Bunnings 😂 I'm not really sure of the size sorry!
LOL, I missed the tiny frog the first time I watched the video, soooo cute, what a great shot! Thanks for a fantastic channel full of easy to digest & very useful information 👏🏻🥰
Live in the Northeast US...just got my Meyer Lemon tree and Clementine tree two weeks ago that I have in pots. Very excited about it.
I live in PA and want a lemon tree. Hope it makes it through the winter when I do get it.
@@caroldhenrich9021 I potted mine so I can prune it and bring into my living room by the window for the coldest months of the year.
Recently learned that Avacados fruit well in pots!
Awesome video! I just got myself an improved Meyer Lemon tree. Its only 20 inches tall. But I love it. I potted it into a 10 inch pot. I enjoyed the video, thank you!
I live in central Poland and my tangerine is growing pretty well in a container in my house, grew it from a single seed I brought from Italy. It sometimes has some problems during winter, but you can easily grow it without any land! All you need is some space near a window
Funny you came out with this video today i just got a lemon tree in the mail yesterday that my wife got me for a father's day present been wanting one for years now. Always great and informational videos keep up the great work brother and stay minty 👌
Thanks David and all the best with your lemon tree what a top gift! Cheers :)
I am crazy about you, you are serious about your topic and yet you make it fun to listen to you. Keep on doing what u r doing. Just looking at your face I can see you are a kind person. Cheers from SOUTH AFRICA,. ANNA
Thanks for getting into it Mike.
He's not kidding about the perfume when a lemon tree flowers. Mine flowered in spring and you could smell it any time you stepped out. It still has lemons from that fruiting and it's flowering again, though not at prodigiously as in the spring. The little green new fruit can be seen growing up next to some of the old and withered (but still edible) old fruit.
That smell is the best. Have mine indoors and they are pretty small plants. But if the first flowers start appearing, you can smell it all over the house.
Also, if you harvested too much at some point, you can squeeze the lemons and freeze the juice as little cubes. Makes for an easy way of measuring how much lemon you want for cooking, so there is some use to it. Certainly not nearly as good as fresh juice though.
I'm just growing a bunch of lemon trees from seeds i got from a lemon haha. Well it might not turn out the best, but its free and i just enjoy the process 😊 although perhaps there is somebody in my community who has a tree that i can take a cutting from.
I've been growing a container dwarf Meyer Lemon for about 10 years now. It's absolutely wonderful. I've added a dwarf Mexican lime this year which has just dropped it's petals and is full of tiny limelettes, as I call them, getting bigger every day. Citrus is a real joy to grow! I was told that citrus liked pine needles, so every year after we take down the Christmas tree, we sweep up the needles and put them in the soil. Seems to work well!
If you keep it inside would it still fruit without insets to pollinate the flowers?
I have a Meyer in a large pot, how many years does it take before it bears flowers and fruit? Tnku
I love this channel- just bought my first dwarf lemon tree
i am planning to grow lemon in container .. thank you for sharing this video this is very helpful well explained thank you muahh
I love when I open my mail and see a video from you. No matter what the videos about you always make me smile!
Cheers to you and your family!
Thank you Pamela for your support and all the best to you and yours! Cheers :)
Being in a rental and the cost of buying them in the shops, I'm going to do this. Love lemons from cleaning your hands with to using for cooking. Thank you for the advice.
Soooo so informative, thank you Marc!
Notes: use 40-50cm pot, bigger the container, the better for more root system = more ability to hold fruit = more value
Line base with thick mulch
Use premium potting mix
Add compost twice a year, rich manure
Eg decomposed cow manure to fertilse
Add citrus fertilser with trace elements regularly for a healthy plant, gives energy to produce fruit.
Water regularly because pots dry out faster than in ground. Dehydrated plant=stressed plant.
Thanks Mike for those great tips! Happy gardening!!
Mark, you have an infectious attitude!!!
You forgot to give the flower smell a "point" all its own!

THE WAY THE FLOWERS SMELL!!!
Which is AMAAAAAZING!!!
When my lemon, or orange tree is flowering, I place a chair under it so I can just sit there breathing in that heavenly scent!!!🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋
Love your channel. I wish I had neighbors who loved gardening as much as you do. Happy Growing!
If you're looking for a big, cheap container, use a plastic barrel. Car dealerships usually have some. They have them when they order windshield washer fluid. It doesn't take much to cut them in half and clean them. Even a new barrel isn't that much. My whole garden is in containers. I have 40 total. 6 are large, plastic feed buckets, 6 are 500 gallon IBC tote halves and the rest are empty chemical barrel halves. They were all in my price range, which is free. It didn't take me long to cut and clean them either
Last night i dreamed my basil, pepper and kiwi finally germinated. And that my pomegranate seedlings came back to life.
And actually my peppers and kiwi are now germinating. Same with the apple
One thing to remember, if you're growing citrus in a more temperate climate: Check for root rot regularly, plant them in half sand, half potting mix, and keep more to the dry side. Don't regularly water just because your other trees also require water at the time.
Another trouble for temperate citrus growers: Citrus do not like to be either the entire year inside the house. They are not tropicals, they do need a rest season (cooler weather), but preferably get some light. This sadly means that both inside of the house (too warm for a resting season, temperatures too constant) as well as most garages (cooler, but generally very low light) aren't really great.
Some options that can work overwintering citrus in colder climates: un-/low- heated sunroom or garage and supplemented with grow lights on sometimes.
I don’t have a garage or sun room.will using sand and lights be enough?
How much cold do they need?
@@piapia5723 Im in regional SE Vic Aust - Hot summer/cold winter & temps go down to frost at times and my containers have been fine. They're situated from the worst cold winds and facing sunny NE on back veranda including winter sun. (Dwarf Eureka, Orange, Cumquat)
Here in Brazil, we have a sixth reason to plant lemon trees. We have a traditional drink called "caipirinha". It is made with cachaça (it is possible to substitute vodka, but it is not the same thing), sugar, lemon and ice. Congratulations from Brazil.
I love and support farmers gardener Grower planters! More power energy to plant more because the world need it now more🤝♥️🙏🇵🇭🌍
I live in Maine. We have about a dozen lemon tree's of different age. I love the look and smell, our daughter like to rub the leaf's to get that lemon smell.
Thank you to my son, he bought me my first lemon tree and a pot to put it in for mothers day. Hope I can keep it alive in sunny Florida. 🍋
What a coincidence!!! just bought a lemon tree and was thinking of growing it in a pot as I want to take it with me when I move on!!! you must have read my mind!!!!
I plan on buying plenty of already established fruit trees especially citris to grow in pots until I eventually am able to buy my own house but in the meantime i'm grown some lemon trees from seeds just 'cause it's fun. maybe in a few years I'll get some decent lemons and if not hey I've got free trees no worries
we grow taiwanese flat lemons and big fat yellow lemons in pots on our porch. great for drinks and garnishes, lots given to the neighbours !
I have a meyer lemon tree and we had lemons on it for almost a year!
I wondered if they fruit for being small in pot for my balcony, thank you 🙏
Very much impressed and inspired after watching lemon and lemon grass video
I have been drinking hot lemon water every morning for years and I used to have nasty heartburn and indignation , doesn’t matter what I eat or drink now I never get heartburn or any issues anymore easy fix
@Grace Asher try ginger in your food it helps a lot
@Grace Asher I'm telling you this is all because of your diet, you need to start trying other diets. Try eating just fruit and vegetables for a day. I bet even cooked foods like lentils and quinoa would be okay but do not eat any meat or dairy or any weird processed food (even bread or pasta) I bet you will have no acid reflux. It may take you a few days though because it sounds like you have a pretty intense case. Acid reflux is a detox system your body is attempting to detox whatever you ate. and It might take you like 3 days on a new diet to fully detox and stop having acid reflux. The medication you're taking was designed to make profit they don't want you to know you can just change your diet, ditch the meds, and start trying out a new plant-based diet. It might be daunting for you to begin with so just dabble with it here and there you will simply just start to feel better and better and when you stray from the diet will likely be hit with acid reflux and feel all-around worse this will incentivize you to commit to the diet.
Big Wrath, we do this juice routine in the morning as well. The reason it works is that the acidity of the lemon juice triggers your body to adjust the digestive balance in your stomach to more alkalinity.
@Grace Asher , at our house... we usually use capsules of betaine hcl: one or two before eating - it helps normalize stomach acid. Before I learned about this from my daughter, I would put about a quarter teaspoon (pretty much a speck or two) in a small glass of water and sip it until my reflux settled. That's what I learned from my Grandmother.
Loved squeezing out all the information. I’ve been growing a Meyer lemon from a seed and have the gardeners patience to wait. It’s only 3 inches higher about 4 mo old. Wish me luck. Thank you love your Chanel
I absolutely love your garden. I grew yp eating figs, apricots, plums, all the Veges, lemonades... with all the flowers. Mum is the green thumb. Good for you! You make me want to go back to living on the land.
How timely this video was! I recently bought lemon, lime and orange trees in the pot from a local home improvement store. Thank you for the tips on growing in the container. I cannot wait to enjoy those citrus fruits!!!
Watching the cutest little frog ( 5:35 ) going into camo mode, was just amazing.
I want the frogs too now....lol I am motivated to grow a lemon and a pomegranate in large pots on my concrete patio. Thanks for the inspiration on the lemon trees. Robbie and Gary Gardening Easy ... just showed how easy pomegranates are to grow.
Just planted a Meyer lemon this spring in a pot.
Thanks For This Informative Video.
Thanks!
G'day Pia Pia, thank you very much for the Super Thanks! All the best :)
I'm having a battle with scale on my indoor Meyers lemon right now.
What a coincidence! I just bought myself a lemon tree to grow in a pot and it arrived today!
Lemons are so versatile and wonderful
That tiny frog has been the best part of my week! Also, thanks for the video. I planted a few lemon seeds last summer and I’m currently obsessing over citrus trees
I love your vids your like the Bob Ross of plants
You do such a great job with using your hands to help tell the story. Appreciate the videos!
‘Lots of lemons” is the Meyeri variety. We in South Africa call in the Meyer. Smooth skinned and happy in a big container. 😉
Greetings from Houston, Texas! We absolutely adore this channel and enjoy your gardening tips!
I was growing a lemon tree in the kitchen window and I was training it in a circle. I LOVED that tree, it sat next to my deceased Dad's spider plant. My Mom had to go to the ICU and while I was tending to her at the hospital someone walked into my home and STOLE IT and my Dad's plant and all my tomato starters. The dog didn't stop them, she was a push over Lab.
Aaaw these tiny froglets sitting on the lemons 😍
I’ve always wanted to try to grow one from a store bought lemon but haven’t tried yet. Thank you for the info!
In this video I noticed that you have carrots planted around the edge of a bed, and something else in the middle. Is that celery or cilantro in the middle? Whatever it is, it looks like they're growing nicely together.
Loving this. Planted a cutting a while back in a container, can't wait to see how it turns out
i'm 100 km south of Sydney near Bargo, we grow: oranges, grapefruit, mandarine, lime , cumquat, lemon, this year i'm trying pomello. my friend in Bundanoon is growing Tahitial lime and Kaffir lime very well in 70cm clay pots on a concrete patio next to a brick house protected from wind in full sun.
I usually avoid fruit and stick to growing veg, but this week I purchased a couple of blueberry bushes, I usually purchase a pack a week and have them with my porridge, but I'm so glad I decided to buy them, they already look brilliant and producing fruit for me.
A lemon tree for our unheated greenhouse is at the top of my garden wishlist. 😍🍋
I have a Meyer lemon in a pot in a corner of my kitchen. In Canada. Bloom in progress right now. Looks like about and easy dozen coming this year. A fun hobby
What perfect timing...I bought a Meyer lemon tree today! 🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋 I'll have to bring it inside for winter. Great video as always....
In Japan, a full yuzu is tossed in the nightly soak bath to freshen things up. Yet another use for them!
lots a lemons is the Trade Name for a Meyer lemon grafted onto Dwarfing ( less than 2 metres) rootstock, usually Flying Dragon rootstock. whereas most citrus are grafted onto Poncirus Trifoliata, ( it will have Rootstock: Trifoliata written on the plant label. which produces a fair size tree ( slightly dwarfed- up to 4 or 5 metres if not pruned back ) which is root rot resistant, because it it a close citrus relative but not tecnically a citrus, althou some people do call it a citrus
Hello from Northern Vermont USA, glad to discover and subscribed to your excellent channel.
I love this guys creativity to talk about plants
They are so useful and hardy. I use lemons all the time from drinks to cooking, citrus like lemon and limes really elevate food too. My lemon tree isn't in a pot and is well established but it thrives through winter with frost's often and temps sometimes down to -5C with no frost cloth around it.
This video is great timing. I already have a Tahitian lime in the backyard and was tossing up to plant another citrus. Anyway, based on some of your videos chose a Valencia orange tree. Cleared the area today. We use oranges and limes more than lemons. But now a lemon in a pot would be a good option where space in the backyard is a bit tight. 🤙🏻
What No Way Love Learning So Much ❤️
THANK YOU SIR. I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS. LOTS OF INFORMATION AND MOTIVATION 🤗🤗🤗.I AM FROM SOUTH AFRICA. GAUTENG REGION. JOHANNESBURG 👏👏👏
Lol, I bought both the Meyer and bushie, my plan is potted but I purchased some air pots, rocket pots.... Thanks mate, another awesome vid!!
I'm outside of Portland OR in the PNW and I've got 4 yuzu's in ground, and 1 in a pot. I'm also growing mexican lime, meyer lemon, pink lemonade lemons, and mandarins (in pots). If you are in a cooler environment (like me), we get down as cool as -10 c in the winter, but our summers are 30-35 c, dry and have very long shoulders, which means with some strategic planning, you can do citrus here outdoors all year. I used some concrete block to build up some garden beds that will retain heat for my in-ground citrus, and I've got my container citrus on wheels so I can move them closer to the house (which has a south facing wall, to reflect heat), in the winter. I also string the older, incandescent christmas lights over them in the dead of winter, and have them on a temperature sensor if the temperature really is going to drop to the extremes. I'm very excited because this summer I'm getting a great fruit set on all my citrus and expect to have a TON of citrus in the next couple months. I would however say that my #1 potted citrus would be a mexican lime. I think they are even more versatile then lemons and we put them in all kinds of dishes. You can also use the leaves in cooking.
