What cam was in that engine? Great power curve on that engine, I have the same sauce with my car with a .82 housing and small cam, power comes on hard and then drops off in the higher rpm, power curve is a bit wobbly so I think I’m getting some valve float too. (16psi)
Pretty sure with the trigger kit, Wind all the way in then 1 full turn back is 1mm and that’s what was recommended by Ross.. cheers for the shirt, make one about rbs and I’ll buy another !
Metallic particles in the oil filter? What's the worst that can happen? I mean, if the intro music was out of tune, I might worry a bit, but I think it'll be just fine. :D Seeing a lot of +/- 400hp to the wheels, lately... is that the magic number or something, or just a happy coincidence?
Fucking awesome. Where are you guys? I got a GTX3076 on a stock comp with a type 1 Nistune and a front mount intercooler on a 30E will push 21psi for only 210rwhp breaks my heart. ARP studs and cometic head gasket.
hey mate im just searching around for info I'm in the middle of pulling parts together to +t my 31 ive got 1000cc injectors and fuel pump will be sourcing a nistune il likely stay 98 octanes for the time being. Un opened block std cam on a Chinese top mount with 3" pipe what size turbo what would your recommend? pretty much an ebay build im in the goldcoast so ill be looking for a tuner ;)
Nice build I have a very similar set up. Nearly at the tuning stage. What’s your thoughts on flex as apposed to straight e85? I noticed you stuck with pump 98 on the 31. Love the vids mate keep em coming.
Honestly brutal VLT I love flex because of the availability (or lack of) of e85. Ultimately depends of your intentions though. E85 + boost yields incredible gains in power and reliability, if it were more available i would run everything on it.
Leprechaun Laboratory Yea man your too right. I don’t intend on using 98ulp at all, cars mostly for roll racing. Tuner seems to think I should run flex to keep my lines lubricated as e85 contains water & corrosion occurs if not uses frequently? Your opinion is much appreciated mate. Cheers
Honestly brutal VLT yeh mate your tuner is on the money! If the car isnt going to be used frequently e85 can be a pain maintenance wise. This is why we dont run e85 in the drift cars, because we only drive them every few months its easier to just be able to drag it out of the shed and hit the key and go. Where e85 if left to sit can do some horrible things to fuel systems and engine oil. If you run flex and put some 98 in on your drive home from roll racing your fuel system will be a lot happier if left to sit for a few months.
I have the 1997 r33 GTS with the rb20E any suggestions on how to get it to have a little more power. Is a turbo kit possible on these engines or should I just consider a swap to the rb20DET?
I have a 95 gts with 20e too, yes you can turbo them rb30e has the same head as the 20e so any manifolds for thoes fit on the rb20e, look for VL Commodore turbo manifolds, and you can run a rb30e cam from kelford. And you can use a rb20det and de head on the rb20e the rb20e block is the exact same as the rb20de and det. Also the fuel rails are the same as de and det so you can rb drop in injectors from a gtst or aftermarket ones for rb20dets. And if your looking for an exhaust for your skyline you can use any gtst catback exhaust on the gts.
With the Ross performance RB30 trigger kit what is the difference between 12 tooth and 32 tooth crank trigger profile is one more fine to tuning? Looking at getting this for my RB30 VL commodore
SomePleb we never found out for certain, but pretty sure it was a .8 Its just an ebay job. I believe it may be one of maxspeeding rods new bb turbos, but cant confirm. Performed well for the cost though. Pretty sure it cost well under $1000
@@BoostGumps yeah wow okay gotta be happy with that performance and even response for a sub 1k turbo considering it wanted to keep pulling. if you end up putting it in another vid would love to hear the idle and cam note now that youve got it dialed in! impressive numbers! cheers for the reply
@@BoostGumps 350rwkw from pump fuel? That’s a lot. I’ve essentially got the same set up. Forgies, hi flow heads, 274 kelford cam. Didn’t make as much as this thing did
Nice arvo vid for a few beers after work....keep up the good work boys !!
Nice video guys. Clear, concise, and well presented.

don't ignore the diff. the bearings WILL be fucked. I just swapped my noisy diff with a berlina diff and saw the bearings in the old one.

It's either 400hp/300kw or 18psi is where you stop for reliable power with these engines.
Just coincidence really. Combination of similarly sized combos and limitations of fuel 👍

I thought the 3076 would be good for a lot more hp! Stock vlt turbo makes that kind of hp
@@fullnoyz7670 Tunes a dud for sure. Sure it will do more hp but I wont add more that 21 psi to find out!

Forgot to mention e85 is at my local servo. Very accessible. I’m in Adelaide. ✌️

A guy on youtube called sammit turbod one of these motors in his r32 sedan, check out the build he spent around 7k in all the parts for turboing it

Leplabs? Do u think 11k will be enough to put an rb30 into a vr commodore?
Also after doing a headgasket have u guys ever occurd gasket shavings and small shaving filing in filter only not oil ?
did you end up finding out if it was a .6 or .8 rear housing? and what brand turbo it was?

Haha r31 diffs are like 50/50 chance of noisy diff, just like the useless hand brakes and lifter tick.
Any head work? I’m running the same cam, over sized valves and port and polish but NA and made 118kw at the wheels
conna cometic gasket & a nice boosted kit will turn that in to a 300rwkw beast.
Is that figure in rwhp or rwkw
What cam did you use?
Hey guys know of any good ECU to suit the old rb30 have a vlt with relay done , really need to get mine tuned
Have a look at Autronic sm4.
I have one in my VL man, awesome piece of Australian made gear 👌
Damn I wish an ecu/tuning didn’t cost your soul in NZ But you pay for what you get I guess haha
