  • In this video I share four (4) things I wish I knew before starting Nursing School. Better still four things you should know before starting Nursing School. I talk about the pro and cons of having a generic first year, share pointers on how to switch your field of practice, and talk about what may happen if you fail Nursing School.
This video is suitable for people who would like to join a Nursing education programme at a higher level institution. So includes Student Nurses (degree level), Nursing Apprentices and Nursing associates.

Thank you so much for this info! I didn’t managed to finished my studies due to family commitments. I had fully completed my 1st yr, but was hoping to go into something else probably health and social care bsc! My biggest fear of Nursing was drugs calculations🙈so am scared to go back!

I'm glad to hear that you'll be transitioning back. When you left the nursing degree after 1st year, did you leave with any qualification?
Drug calculations are easier than you think!

Hi. All your videos are enlightening and really helpful. I am an international student looking at studying Nursing(Adult) next year. I am happy I saw this video. May I know the university you studied at. I will take my time to watch all the videos on your channel. Thanks.

Hi, MH student nurse here in first year. I’m not entirely sure if I want to stay in MH because I quite like the physical aspects, but I also don’t want to stay exclusively in adult nursing purely for the physical conditions as I do have an interest in mental health if that makes sense 😅. I know there’s quite a few jobs within MH nursing where there is quite a lot of general nursing (ECT for example) and I was thinking of going into those kind of areas once I qualify. I can also get a second registration in adult nursing if I wanted to. Basically , I’m torn between the two fields. Do you think I should stay within MH or switch after the first year to adult? Thank you so much, I love your videos, they’ve helped so much in my assignments.

Based on what you have said I would remain in the mental health branch. Chances are, If you switch into the adult branch you will have the same dilemma (just the other way round). Like you said, you can always get a second registration if you want to. Thanks for watching my videos

As soon as I got my NMC pin, so a matter of weeks.
As soon as you finish your nursing degree, you will need to apply for your NMC pin. As soon as your pin comes through you are fully registered and able to work as a registered nurse.
