I will let him answer that, in my experience running them, the only times I had noise was when the leaves weren't square to each other in the pack, and when the saddle bracket touches a leaf..

No. I bought a Mine Spec Alternator 9 years ago as a spare, which is coated and sealed better. It is still in the box.
