Another of my favorites, a little surprised the PS1 version didn't come up. It's the US release, and had a ton of QOL improvements, better visuals, better translation, Better AI, and some unexpected musical changes. Honestly, even being a fan of the series, I was on the fence about OBBQ until trying the PS1 version.
Also, fun note: Most of the LUCT Palace of the Dead statues are units from both versions of MOTBQ and OB64

I feel the level were you have to blow up the wall was a reference to the Berlin Wall falling, which happened at the end of '89 and was a massive event. The games are not PC inspired are in Window/DOS but Amiga inspired. The battle arena with the book is straight out of Populous and the Overworld and view movement system is straight out of Carthage.

After making this video I found other interviews with Matsuno that I believe he listed by name Carthage as something he was influenced by.

I did not. I'm planning on doing another playthrough on the PS1 version to see the differences down the line and that will be more of a completionist type of run. I hope you like Tactics Ogre though because I'll be going real deep on that one next!
