Another of my favorites, a little surprised the PS1 version didn't come up. It's the US release, and had a ton of QOL improvements, better visuals, better translation, Better AI, and some unexpected musical changes. Honestly, even being a fan of the series, I was on the fence about OBBQ until trying the PS1 version. Also, fun note: Most of the LUCT Palace of the Dead statues are units from both versions of MOTBQ and OB64
I feel the level were you have to blow up the wall was a reference to the Berlin Wall falling, which happened at the end of '89 and was a massive event. The games are not PC inspired are in Window/DOS but Amiga inspired. The battle arena with the book is straight out of Populous and the Overworld and view movement system is straight out of Carthage.
I did not. I'm planning on doing another playthrough on the PS1 version to see the differences down the line and that will be more of a completionist type of run. I hope you like Tactics Ogre though because I'll be going real deep on that one next!
Awesome review man, i have had this since it was new on SNES i love this game

After making this video I found other interviews with Matsuno that I believe he listed by name Carthage as something he was influenced by.
PS you didnt talk about it did you get any of the Generals or Dragoons?
