Beware! For all those innocent minds appreciating the cinematography, this drama very smartly encapsulates concepts like Homosexualism, Magic, Zina etc portraying it as something normal or not so normal yet digestible for Pakistani audience. Extremely dangerous content for the young generation who are stupidly going crazy after aesthetics.

    Another crazy theory about Scheherezade:
Scheherezade is Mahtab and Jafar’s daughter. They did the deed before Jafar left for the South, after which Mahtab became pregnant with Scheherezade. Jafar didn’t know this, and the villagers found out about them.
Since Jafar and Mahtab weren’t married and this was a sin, the villagers killed Mahtab and the unborn child. That’s why they call Mahtab names. As revenge, Mahtab lures the women of the village being abused to ensure what happened to her doesn’t happen to them.
The present Scheherezade is neither dead nor alive, similar to how she was when she was killed by the villagers (in her mother's womb). Mahtab is the woman in red. When the red cloth fell on Scheherezade, she sniffed it and felt relieved because that scent was her mother’s.
Hence, the soft spot for Mahtab and the belief in the reunion. Scheherezade’s time to pass over to the next world is coming soon, which is why she’s shedding. It’s also on the Equinox Night. So, why did she remain for so long?
They say a spirit remains on earth if it has unfinished business. Scheherezade didn’t pass over to the next world because her task was incomplete: to reunite her parents. So, Scheherezade is the glue holding everything and everyone together.

I understood one thing clearly after watching two episodes of Barzakh and reading comments which are praising and liking this drama, that "Jab deen se door ho jaoge to har bade se bada gunah b normal lgne lgta h." No doubt picturization, direction, acting and story telling is of another level. But till now, whatever they are emphasizing, can't be normalize. There should be certain limits to be modern as well, also in accepting modern values in your life. There is nothing wrong in changing according to new generation but with knowing what is acceptable and what's not AT ALL. Hope in further episodes this drama will not try to normalize the sins and adult talk the child is speaking.

I don't understand why people are measuring it in religious ideology, they are not portraying what's right or what's wrong, they are just telling a story, its the audience who decides what's evil and what's good. Watch it for the sake of a story. Its like the story our grandmother used to narrate to us at night. Stop judging everything with religious scope.

What I perceive from this episode is that jaffer wanted to be a really rich man to punish all the villagers (as they killed mehtab) and maybe thats they reason why he got married to the second lady (shehreyar’s mother). This seems from the conversation in the room (kya deri hai wo, kamyabi bulandi jo tmhary aam k darakht se bht uncha hai) and then he got some sort of permission to build that graveyard. It’s pretty clear that saifullah killed his mother so that she could get rid of that pain caused by jaffer. Or another possible reason could be his reality. Maybe his mother knows about his dark secret (of liking men) and thats why he killed the bird (the bird watched him enjoying) and similarly he killed his mother.
Sanam’s character is clearly someone who connects with both worlds.

Even if the series is not your cup of tea but each frame itself is so mesmerizing that you should watch it only to appreciate the beauty of the frames. Each frame is a painting. The white and gray mountains, trees with autumn leaves even the references of apricots and mangoes to show the autumn colour, each and everything is so thoughtful. The story being set in the season of fall to the souls having stones on their back, everything is so well thought out. Asim Abbasi should do more work tbh.❤❤
P.s. Did anybody notice the baby bump of Mahtab? The blood stain on it indicates that maybe her family killed her in the name of honour as she was pregnant.

Many Pakistani dramas perpetuate harmful stereotypes by portraying women as submissive, docile, and accepting of abuse.
Some viewers may criticize bold scenes involving women or men but remain silent when male characters exhibit violent behavior against women.
This gender bias reflects a societal problem specially in Pakistan where unequal treatment is often tolerated.

As a Pakistani drama watching audience I want to address something...
Unfortunately Pakistani society has deeply ingrained cultural taboos related to sexuality and intimacy.
Viewers may feel uncomfortable with bold scenes due to these taboos, yet they may not express the same level of discomfort when watching scenes of domestic violence aired at primetime slots on TV.
This inconsistency reveals a lack of critical reflection on cultural norms.

There's almost a 20-year difference between the couple. Similarly, there was an extremely uncomfortable scene in Jaan Nisaar, but that was fine. I'm not saying what they're showing in Barzakh is right, but at least the show admits it's not for children.

It seems like Shehrezad is the eldest child of Jafar he had with Mehtab without a wedlock as in the end scene they show pregnant Mehtab. Also Mehtab had Shehrezad when something supernatural was calling her towards it may be the land of Koh e Qaaf where fairies live according to a mythology that exist in the mountains of North that's why shehrezad has a very mysterious vibe. this series is very well crafted piece of fiction and people with imagination can enjoy it the fullest. This series target audience is fiction readers, people who used to read stories like Umro Ayyar and Harry Potter.

Just a different story doesn’t make anything a masterpiece. Its different from other local dramas. Yes it is. But is this a masterpiece. No way. One just cant call everything a master piece. Literally, hundreds of shows are better than this. Even so many pakistani dramas are better than this. And it is not necessary to throw lgbtq content and vulgarity to make it popular. There is no place of that in our religion and even in our culture. Thousands of dramas with such content are being made nowadays. At least be honest with your roots.
