Larry Tatum is a great teacher in his own right. Firms are a way for the students to learn movement of various types. Kenpo has produced many great fighters. Lets try to respect each other ! Kenpo is an AWESOME art!
@talon115 Because it's repetition of your basics. You can't workout 8 hours a day banging on your partnters and not get injured in the longrun. Forms also force you to pay attention to precision moves. Most of your 'bangers' can't do forms, because they don't have the mental organization or memory faculties to do so. When a Martial Artist can both fight and do forms incredibly well, you know you're looking at the real deal.
excelent work. great form, good trnasition, very good way to show that you dont need to rush through the forms in order for em to look good, he took his time, and it was gorgeouse to watch this form good work master tatum.
Is it just me, or does anyone else recognize and SEE how precise and as near to Perfect this man’s every move motion execution is?? As a Kenpo practitioner of decades and teacher, I assert that No One Including Grandmaster Parker executes pure Kenpo technique then or now like Tatum. This cat is precision in motion at the arts highest form. And I’m a Tracy Kenpo dude, btw. Tatum is beauty in motion because he inputs emotion. If that makes sense. Talk about technically sound.
Why do you have the need to say that?Come on man why should you see this in a competitive way between arts or masters? You cannot compare a Kenpo 7th Degree (Now 10th)Master with a Japanese Master because there's one big difference between them They are different persons in different arts with different graduation criteria. Why would we judge people by a 2.09 long video onyoutube? Trust me I've been in Seminars with Master Tatum more than once and in person you can see how powerfull this man is.
, I love this form, and especially the way master tatum does it, one question though whats the best way to do this form, do you need to do it very fast or can u do it slow whats the best way.
I don't care what these no it all critics say , I like this system , I like this form , I like this instructor and I believe in Kenpo and it's people , and I know it works and if you punks don't like it then that's just too bad .
Jaguar Strikes Again As little as you think of critics, you give them too much credit. Mr. Parker said something to the effect of, when pure knuckles meets pure flesh, that's pure karate. I took that to mean, beat the crap out of your opponent then back-fill the principles and concepts used after. Either way you get to go home and say good night to your family again. Let them critique that.
ok these bangers got the resistance to fight ill give u that, because all they do is fight. but a kenpo master or any martialartes is also trained to fight, we sparr almsot every day at least at my gym we do spar every day at the end of each class or sometimes at the begining. but we also do forms becasue its the artistic side of the martial arts. kenpo is divided in 3 secrtions if u will: 1) basics- we see them in forms. 2) self defense techniques - we also see them in forms . 3) sparring.
It’s unfortunate to see such division. At 39 with extra time im seriously looking into training in the Kenpo Art. I’ve seen the Perfect weapon and was captivated
Amazing! Definitely time to go practice my forms! I'd like to know when this was filmed, and where. It's a beautiful setting. Was this Mr. Tatum's school? Or Mr. Parkers?
you should first be able to do it slow. do everything in the form, dont shortcut anything. then work your way up to doing it fast. testing situation or tournament setting you should do it fast. and because you have done everything slow and perfect if will look good. there is no best way. just depends on situation.
i have trained in the japanese system for many years and i have never heard a student say, hey iseen sensi asano kicking someones face in. down at the local bar... who are u training with.............
No offense taken. Your English is alot better than my Portuguese! As long as you know that forms have no practical self defense use then I have no arguement with you.
paul brennan there's no need to argue both arts are good neither is better than the other. and please don't insult Mr. Tatum he's amazing and a legend in Kenpo.
@@jenna24689 Sorry to contradict you but yes, paul brennan needs to argue. You see, he has an inferiority complex that compels him to try to make up for it by being a tough guy from the keyboard. He's not even a martial artist. No student, not even a poor one, would be so disrespectful to himself, his teachers and his art to behave in that way.

Larry Tatum had his school in Pasadena. My brother and I went to his dojo back in 94.
hi buddy, uhh would you be so kind to tell me what happend between master Tatum and mr parker, cuz i really dont know much about it.
Why don't you show up on a seminar one day? Maybe (probably) you need to learn something more about it. ;)

Like Kenpo, met the guy once. Pretty much an arrogant jerk. Maybe he had tired after a long day.
Osu !!
i have trained in the japanese system for many years and i have never heard a student say, hey iseen sensi asano kicking someones face in. down at the local bar... who are u training with.............
lol//
How can doing this possibly help someone defend themselves?
No offense taken. Your English is alot better than my Portuguese! As long as you know that forms have no practical self defense use then I have no arguement with you.
a japanese master of the same grade would destroy him,
