You aren't supposed. Blizzard develops expansions for their target audience since Legion which is hardcore sweatlords. WoW became like Souls games, if you're too bad for it - find another game.
I agree that PvP is very clustered atm but ofc when you take a break from something you get rusty. I myself quit wow after BFA and came back recently. Playing a relatively easy class and getting used to ur UI takes like 2-3 days.

Arena really got too much going on the screen now, felt like S1-15 was much better how it slowly built more stuff going on. As a old time arena player this is way too much going on for my casual ass to understand.

heres the problem with wow pvp, its all aoe and hardly any setups anymore. It's a AOE FEST. hitting 50 buttons to do 10% of someones health. retail wow pvp is garbage.
There's a good chance you'll be vsing glads and other very high rated players when the only arena pvp available currently is skirmish. In a few weeks it calms down alot.
Playing melee gives me a headache with all the fast movement and camera spinning.. Playing a caster gives me a headache trying to get one cast off and trying to fake kicks while being trained all game.. But hey I keep going back cause I’m addicted!

I found solution which works for me I created all hero’s and I got 1700 arena of each class expect tank to understand what spell and how to play against this hero:) I spent almost all expansion to achieve this aim …🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

One spec for everyone and you auto lose depending on the matchup. and that's why cata pvp isn't that popular. played to 2200 in cata and that's all i saw. I think retail pvp is more fun cause classes are more independent and it's about causing more pressure than the enemy. Not playing rock paper scissors and giving up when the gates open. it's faster paced yes, but there's simply more PVP to do than any other version of the game. Retail requires no brainplay at all compared to cata and mop. You literally zugzug and cleave everything down. There is no difference between pvp and pve now.

But none of them are the UI which they've improved a lot over the years. Default UI from classic would be unplayable in modern WoW.
