    One of my favourite things to do each week whenever an Archean video comes out is to play the game while the video is playing, sometimes just building while you guys are building but also flying my plane around to see if I can spot the locations where you two have travelled to. It's a very strange sort of feeling of connection that comes from doing this, as well as a sort of discovery goal.
    Always look forward to these videos, thank you for getting me hooked on this game!

    Loving this series, can't wait to see what you guys do next. I think there was a mention that gas engineering aspects (like stationers) probably wouldn't be a thing since we are androids in the game. However, I don't think that is entirely true. Yes, the body is mechanical but if I remember right the brain is organic. So that leaves open the door to a need for producing O2, and most like an inert gas such as nitrogen to reduce the saturation - Niox I believe divers call it. I could see this requirement being added to the survival mode of the game. At least I hope that's where the devs are going with it. Keep up the great content !

      "Food" could remain a requirement, as Wasted mentioned, dust is a problem, so wear and tear could require the... Part organic android to require making parts for maintenance and repairs. Dived too deep? Pressure damaged something. Explosive decompression? Crashed? All that could cause your "health bar" to drop.

      or one of the Goals in the game could be the option of becoming Organic again, would be quite an interesting option but I can imagine also hard to do as you'd somehow make Organic more attractive than staying Android

    Splisie... Are you aware that you have set up the cockpit as the opposite direction of where it would intuitively be to face forward, based on the rotor heights and locations? The "rear" would be more aerodynamically sensical as the front.
    Edit: W4sted mentioned it about 3/4 through the stream

    A tiny bit that may help wasted with the code, if you start from a steady hover as your baseline, then take the input of what you want to do, i.e.: move forward, so you would then infer a bit of pitch forward into the mixer so that the rear props have a bit more speed, roll inparts more speed in left/right depending on roll directional, etc. You are wanting a form of CCPM to achieve what you are looking for.

    2:00:00ish: Aviation trivia time... every country, in planes the pilot sits on the left, and in helicopters the pilot sits on the right. Much like cars, both sides boil down to "because everyone is right-handed"... unlike cars, the reasons aren't _completely_ irrelevant today IRL, though they are in a game.
    Fortunately since what you're building is more helicopter than plane, it happens to agree with you. 😄

    • @StixFerryMan
      @StixFerryMan 24 дня назад +1

      Because “everyone is right-handed” is one of the reasons why we have the drivers side of cars on the right here. Your dominant hand always stays on the wheel even if you have manual transmission, if you change the radio station, or if you wanna text while driving. Like, what kind of crazy person thought that having your weaker hand control the steering of a multi ton, high speed vehicle was a good idea?

    • @Maeyanie
      @Maeyanie 24 дня назад +2

      Thing is, that's not actually the reason. Driving on the left (with the driver on the right) comes from boats, where before wheels, the pilot would have a "steer board" out the right (starboard) side, because everyone is right-handed.
      Driving on the right (with the driver on the left) comes from horse-drawn carriages, where the driver would want the reins in his right hand and his whip in his left hand, and that way around whips won't get tangled with oncoming traffic, because everyone is right-handed.
      Ultimately, neither side has anything to do with which hand you've got on the wheel of a multi-ton, high-speed vehicle. Both were decided long before anyone could have imagined the society we'd have today. But, by the time people realized it, switching would have caused utter havoc.
      So now we're just stuck with two systems, both of which are "because everyone is right-handed" filtered through things which barely still exist. 😄

    Speaking of community servers. Id like to see you put together a community space engineers server. The goal being to colonize the galaxy in a fight against space pirates. Each person being on there own trying to do so. basically meaning you and several other RUclipsrs can pick a planet each and each RUclipsr can let there own communities join a faction they created and play with there favorite

      Unfortunately that's extremely difficult to even attempt in space engineers. To even attempt running a server of that size you'd be looking at truly exorbitant server hosting fees (at least based on what I pay to host my scrapyard server). Space engineers just isn't suited to being an MMO

    As a side note, what do you guys think of the Stationers terrain changes discussions with devs ? removing the low poly procedurally generated terrain for 8X8KM authored maps? I think I prefer the new map idea for me would be more immersive. My one grip with stationers now is its too cartoony IMO.

    On the mechs side, based on my understanding, mechs are considered as being able to do more tasks than any current modern vehicle, their versatility is acknowledged as their main strength.
    The problem is that one, the collection of vehicles that can sufficiently achieve all those tasks or are able to carry the tools for them two the required maintainance of said vehicles is lower and hence the logistics and three the training time, contrasts heavily agains the extreme heavy downside of mechs called maintenance. Not even training time is as bad as it.
    Being a far more complex machine, it will need more spare parts, and more man hours to repair and maintain and is more prone to suffer from combat damage that would stop it from continuing whatever mission it should. As if that was not enough, a mech would be more expensive to make, which paints it as prime target for enemy fire. A thousand dollar anti-armor missile for a billion dollar armored vehicle and a elite pilot that needed years of training as bonus? Of course it'll be a target.
    Sadly I do not think mechs will become a military vehicle unless we first get assembly and repair technologies that even out the logistics and man-hours to that of other vehicles, imagine something that is aproximate to what space engineers does with the assembler and welder blocks.
    Maybe, just maybe, there could be some considerations for civilian applications I'd say mostly on disaster relief were if a human could keep his speed and presision and mostly flexibility but be able to dig or lift like heavy machinery would, well that could save lives. Enphasis on could.

    48:13 from my own experience with two servers from a private community, the number at minimum does lie near or even above 20 as minimum around the start, and I fully understand why W4sted puts that number even far higher as there are a lot of roles, a lot of parts and especially the Rate of star gain which is adjustable can raise and lower the amount of people needed,

    Look at my bois.. figuring stuff out. . So proud!
    Pardon, seeming facetiously pedantic. Just playing games.. right.
    I just love when intelligent people realize, they're actually intelligent.
    (sounds like I'm being mean again, doesn't it. Didn't mean to. Even when I try to compliment, I come across as offensive.).
    Here's the thing (grown up talk now - as in I still watch youtube gamer videos, as you two, too, do still produce them, lol, right..) - um I forget what the thing was (I'm old like that.. forgetting the end of my sentence.. and the point I was trying to make) . But you guys know, I presume.
    Old coder here.. don't be afraid of it. The code, I mean, It's just a machine.
    (we (I) like to play with words.. and stuff.. because code is words essentially, and logic.. (like the contents of thought) - language (arguably, the origins of human intelligence), and playing with words makes us feel clever. Playful cleverness .. we put that in the #// *comments* - otherwise the words don't compute..).
