I'm not saying he's faking it, I am saying he thinks the mental illness issues are part of his clout and he embraces it rather than seeking help and he surrounds himself with people who encourage him.

That’s the problem. When you’re on social media and have lots of followers, they won’t say anything against you. They’ll keep praising everything you do, even if it’s clearly mental illness behavior. And unfortunately, many people with mental illness are unaware of their problems; if you call them out for wrongdoing, they get defensive as hell and deny everything.

Background on Fousey. He has been very open about his struggles with bipolar disorder over the years. For years and years, he put his disorder on the back burner before he got diagnosed. He was at the peak of his popularity. Then after having a fake beef with RiceGum and after promising Drake was gonna be at an event he was hosting (despite never even getting a DM, call, or text back from Drake), it was becoming obvious to his fans something was wrong and that he was suffering from delusions. He was forced to take a break from the internet, got back into shape, got put on bipolar meds, and seemed to patch his life up for a bit. But with most famous bipolar people (ie Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, Kanye West, MGK, Halsey etc), they hit such a massive manic episode that they become convinced that they don’t need their meds and they hit a downward spiral. The hardest part, when someone is in that state of mind, is actually convincing them that they have a problem. They get so paranoid and think that you pointing out the problems is just you wanting to hurt them. It’s a vicious cycle. Definitely dealt with this with some family members and it never gets easier.

@@linow7074People aren't just let go for committing a crime, if they blame it in their mental illness. In most cases people that are found not guilty by count of insanity aren't just let go, but instead sent to a poorly run mental health facility, where the conditions at times can be way worse than in any prison.
And at many of those poorly for-profit run facilities they get extremely over medicated, to the point that they aren't even human anymore, and will literally turn into mindless vegetable like zombies. On top of that they'll often also get abused, assaulted, starved and have all of their rights taken away, not being allowed to make any personal decisions at all.
People rarely talk about this, and act like everything has been fine after we outlawed lobotomies, but the sad reality is, that to a certain extent a lot of people think it's okay to treat mentally ill people like this, because they're "lesser" people.

There have already been studies proving that social media causes all kinds of mental illnesses, from anxiety, to ADD, to depression. In Fousey's case, it seems obvious that his mental health is linked to social media, seeing how there is a direct inverse relationship between his follower count and his mental health. Moist's gollum analogy was spot on.

there have always been people vulnerable to mental health. but the internet is still a fairly new phenomenon. but there does seem to be a connection between it an enabling out of control behavior. especially to those predisposed to it. but you can cause yourself mental illness just as you can cause physical illness by not taking care of yourself. if you feel like youre having issues, reach out to someone, a burden shared is a burden lightened. if its more serious, there are always outlets you can seek help. and it might take awhile to find a right fit for you.

Plenty of people who suffer with it. their carers, partners etc speak about that a lot. You cannot force people with serious mental health issues to take their meds unless they are sectioned and you cannot keep these people locked up forever.

And I remember during the years he was popular despite people liking him there were also a lot of moments with either concern or just acknowledging that he was acting like an asshole for attention and money and fame. If I remember correctly I think one of the last things that he did before he “quit” )and I use that word lightly because that was also for attention ) but he said he was doing this show and drake (I think it was him) was going to be a surprise guest and while people were at the venue fousey basically said he lied. Some may see his behaviour as a cry help and some see it’s as fousey just being fousey the issue is that nothing good comes from either viewpoint.
