I had an ep3 15 years ago and reluctantly sold it to get a family five door! I can’t tell you how much I missed it! I didn’t realise how special it was until it was gone! I soon realised I was literally in love with it! I went out and bought another one exactly the same and have driven it ever since! I’d never sell it! Ep3s are epic and in my view a future classic

My mistake, I meant best looking Civic, not Honda overall. However Preludes are ugly and the front of the S2000 is not on par with the rear. The NSX is leagues above though.
The S2000 initially used a longitudinally mounted F20C, which is a different architecture to the transversely mounted K20A3 in this Civic. The F engine and the K engine share some engineering, but is still a different architecture. The F20C also had a compression ratio of 11.5:1 and a much higher redline of 9200 rpm, and the K20A3 had a compression ratio of 9.8:1, and only revved to 6800 rpm. The S2000 then went to an F22C1, which was a reworked F20C, but the compression ratio went down to 11.1:1, the redline was moved down to 8200 rpm, and obviously there was larger displacement, hence the 22 in the name (2.2 liters). I'm sorry, but you're wrong, the two engines are not the same.

Like Autocar do, but with CTs creative edge and more focus on the car doing the work rather than just being told that it can do it. No offence CT. But I don't feel it was the meal I was expecting :)

Right now, the EP3 Type R is my attainable dream car, I fully intend to buy one as a second car when I can drive. Everything about it is what a hot hatch should be; - FWD - Manual only - High revving N/A i4 - Lightweight - Independent rear suspension - It's small, not a stupid saloon sized hatchback like the new one - The styling is almost perfect, it's simple and has a nice shape versus the stupidly overstyled new one with all it's fake vents and oversized rear wing It's truly a great car and a definite future collector's item, seeing as almost none of them are stock anymore.
He's right in that if you're a proper driver, it doesn't take long to fall in love with the EP3. It's so much fun pushing its limits and if you're good enough, like he said, the modern ones can't shake it. So rewarding!

EP3 with a few subtle engine mods to get it into the 240BHP region, some Michelin cups, LSD, sorted suspension and I think on the track it would be a lot closer than people think! All for less than 10 grand!

I wonder what kind of tires are on the ep3. That can account for a considerable amount of performance difference, especially if the owner has some crappy all-seasons on it.

I always said the type r died after the ep3. but maybe the 2015 type r has pulled it back.. Love the FK2 but being turbo'd will never be a true type r like the ep3, which has so much spirit and soul. The k20 is the greatest mass produced engine in the world, just sublime. K pro the ep3 with breather mods and I would take that all day! But I don't have to, because I own one!! Love a cosmic premier!

I really like the new car, I appreciate what its capable of and from an engineering standpoint its a marvel, but given the choice i'd have to take the ep3 as well, I'm not really sure why but it just screams fun, whilst the new one is a more serious racer, and being an EJ9 owner myself lightweight, not much power and a good chassis is unbeatable for fun in my opinion. Awesome video guys, keep at it.
man i wish i could get my hands on an EP3 here in the states. if i ever get out of the country or move ill have to try and get my hands on it, the new type R is finally coming here but its going to be expensive! a couple notches out of my budget
Not sure I agree. Its a great car, but is a little dated in many ways. I just wish they'd make a new Civic with everything which made the EP3 (and Civics previous to the EP3) so great. The latest Civic isn't much smaller than an old Accord now.
I love this, very well done! I drive a Civic EP2 myself, its a really really fun car, its fast (even if it has only got 110hp) and I can afford it as a 19 year old. I love these old Hondas.

Its called the s2000 2nd the engines arnt made by the popular electronic company "vtech" they use a vvt system called "vtec" that when at higher rpms, lifts the valves higher (and i think i little longer) to make more power making it have better fuel economy, also how the fuck is more power annoying? almost every single car nowadays uses vtec, they just call it something else, usually vvti

Upshifting a bit below 8k rpm on the ep3 means you fall out of vtec on the next gear , which is why you did 0 to 60 in over 7 seconds. You need to almost hit the limiter at 8250 rpm in this car if you want to do sub 7 seconds.
I really want a new Type R if they ever decide to import them to North America (they're supposed to but who knows) but I wouldn't want to drive it in the snow during winters and I don't know if I'm willing to replace my EP3 summer car with the new model.

That's a minter of an EP3. It's done less than 40,000 miles. Cosmic grey premier edition as well. Worth about £7-8k.

I love this, very well done! I drive a Civic EP2 myself, its a really really fun car, its fast (even if it has only got 110hp) and I can afford it as a 19 year old. I love these old Hondas.

why won't Honda make a rwd sports car it would sell probably out sell any entry-level sport coupe on the market would probably be a gem to drive, and Honda it's 2015 vtech isn't impressive anymore and you're just beating it to death

Its called the s2000 2nd the engines arnt made by the popular electronic company "vtech" they use a vvt system called "vtec" that when at higher rpms, lifts the valves higher (and i think i little longer) to make more power making it have better fuel economy, also how the fuck is more power annoying? almost every single car nowadays uses vtec, they just call it something else, usually vvti

Upshifting a bit below 8k rpm on the ep3 means you fall out of vtec on the next gear , which is why you did 0 to 60 in over 7 seconds. You need to almost hit the limiter at 8250 rpm in this car if you want to do sub 7 seconds.

I really want a new Type R if they ever decide to import them to North America (they're supposed to but who knows) but I wouldn't want to drive it in the snow during winters and I don't know if I'm willing to replace my EP3 summer car with the new model.
whoever idea it was to do the sound effect of like playing water glasses or if its part of the song for the intro, my speakers were playing it and my fucking god it is so cringy and high frequency making my ears bleed

This is what hatchbacks look like, just look at the Ford Focus or the Toyoa Auris. The 9th gen Civic (in this video) is an evolution of the 8th gen design, and it's very similar in most regards.
