    My favorite theory about hostile aliens is that we'll never get a chance to fight them. They'll park out in the Oort cloud, aim several large objects from the cloud at Earth and wait for them to wipe out civilization. The few humans that survive would not have the resources to even mount a feeble defense.

      We can accelerate objects at orbital speeds (7 km /s), while an advanced civilisation could accelerate objects at the Galactic speeds (200 km/s).
      Being hit by something at that speed has undescribable effects; a good example would be the shot fired by Moff Tarkin's battlestation at Aldeeran...

    • @rjgoniea
      @rjgoniea Год назад

      @@rayoflight62 Yes, they probably could fire something that fast. However if their goal is to capture the planet for its resources they're not going to fire something fast enough to obliterate the planet.* Several smaller, slower moving objects aimed at points around the globe would maximize fatalities without cataclysmic damage such as punching a hole through the earth's crust.
      *Imagine the commander of the mission reporting he destroyed the planet:
      Commander: Sir, we engaged operations at sector 8472 as ordered.
      Alien Leader: Excellent! How soon can we send our colony ships?
      C: Your excellency there might be a slight problem in that regard.
      AL: What kind of problem?
      C: Well sir, one of our junior technicians assigned to operate the mass drivers made a small mistake.
      AL: Define small 😡
      C: Instead of setting the driver speed to 20km/s, he accidently put in 200km/s
      AL: (angrily) So you're saying the target planet was..
      C: Obliterated, yes sir. There is now a second asteroid belt in that star system. Sir, It's not a total loss, there's lots of material recoverable from the debris!
      AL: Big deal! Our information on that planet said it had beautiful beaches on par with any in the galaxy! Now where am I going to hold the next intergalactic beauty pageant? I promised a new venue now I've got nothing!
      C: I don't know what to say sir other than I apologize for the actions of my team.
      AL: Consider this your resignation Commander. And I want that junior technician on the next ship to the garbage planet of sector 27.

    This may be a nice idea for a Hollywood movie, but reality will most likely be more mundane. If the aliens are peaceful, they'll make sure their presence is known, a long time -- years or even centuries -- before they attempt any connection, let alone a visit (assuming that is even possible).
    OTOH, if there is anything here which they want and we're in their way, we'd probably be gone before we even know what hit us.

If you see something incredible, acknowledge to yourself that you are seeing it, try to observe yourself having the experience while in the experience. Control your excitement, be calm. Prior attempts to eradicate the invasive species proved unsuccessful by the galactic confederation (ALL HAIL!). Perhaps they have no actual concept of making oneself known. Perhaps just going places is their thing. Perhaps they were sending strong mind signals all year long, and they wondered why nobody answered.
      Perhaps we are the first planet with life they have ever seen, and perhaps they thought they were all alone, just cruising around looking for a nice spot to chill.
      There could be countless reasons for flying around in a spaceship. Assuming a species to be warlike, just because we are, well. That's very human indeed.

You can watch videos right here on RUclips of humans placing mirrors in the jungle to observe how animals react, or the animatronic gorillas placed among groups of gorillas. Hmm.. you know... once you have the technology to do interplanetary travel, getting any resources you need from space instead of diving down a gravity well is just a lot easier. Once you mastered interstellar travel, a small rock like earth has little to contribute, and enslaving some biological species which needs a biosphere to survive is.... extremely impractical when you can also build robots to do the work.

    Interesting conjecture, but no. There would be more than minutes because they need to slow down as they approach and there's a limit to how much acceleration they can survive (if they are here in person and not just AI). It would take longer than minutes to do the tech work. If they are transmitting radio signals then they would instantly see our response, and us transmitting sequences of primes would instantly make the point and suggest a reply. If they're not transmitting radio signals then we would not see them approach. They would not come to conquer us - if they had the technology to come then there is literally nothing in the universe they would need to come here for - they could make it themselves. And if they want to wipe us out, they would not bother coming, they would just use missiles/lasers from their armchairs, in which case we would not know till it hit. But apart from that, spot on. I look forward to being kept as a pet by an alien - free food and tummy rubs.

      One thing for sure, is it aliens physically visit, they are most probably prepared to do exactly what they intend to do, and we can only go with the flow - if they want to communicate they already learned how to do so and will accommodate us. Besides, what Earthbound civilization didn't find something desirable among the possessions of a primitive society? It could be water, minerals, genetic material, some rare element not ubiquitous in the rest of the universe or they may just be incredibly curious. To a certain extent I agree that our history wouldn't be a great help in analyzing the actions, motivations or needs of an alien race or how we should react under those circumstances. However, their true needs, motivations and attitudes would probably be so inconceivable, so cryptic and so bizarre that figuring out what they want, why they're here or how to communicate with them would be a possibly insurmountable problem. They could have a history, physiology and motivation that would be so far outside our experience that even communication would be impossible. From a genetic/evolutionary standpoint, humans aren't that different from chimps. Now, imagine there are aliens, and their intellect gap with us, the disparity could be equal to the human/chimp gap, or, hundreds of times greater. Imagine the technology available to them, I wonder if we could ever grasp how it works, even if they took the time to explain it to us.

  • @ShirudoSystems
    @ShirudoSystems Год назад +85

    I think the only way that we would stand any chance against aliens in a fight would be two scenarios. One being that they have evolved beyond the point of physical violence in their culture, so much so that they don't even consider threats of violence anymore since they have been so far removed from it themselves. The other possibility would be kind of the opposite, where their weaponry is so advanced that all of their defenses are designed to defend against super high tech weapons, but may be susceptible to our 'primitive weapons'. Something like their defenses are all based on defending from electromagnetic or plasma weaponry etc. but despite doing that well, it ends up actually being susceptible to our dumb weapons that primitively just shoot pieces of metal at each other. Kind of like in the Dune universe where the shields evolved so much that guns were rendered basically useless, but the shielding ended up being susceptible to a simple knife.

      I don't think the second scenario is practical. Let's say our weapons are somewhat effective against their defenses. But that doesn't make their weapons any less stronger. We would shoot one missible and by the time it hits one of their fighter jets, five of ours would be knocked down. So 15 of their fighter jets can take out the entire Royal Air Force. And since they are so much advanced they might even be able to repair their damaged vehicles within few hours if not minutes. So we are doomed anyways. And remember if we can build biochemical weapons, they can build way more deadlier thing than that which may end all life forms within few days.

    • @teedteed9130
      @teedteed9130 Год назад

      Any species that gets that far ahead in technology will of course have written history. They would know what ballistic weapons are and can probably see what kinda weapons we're packing to counter it. Your assumption is that a highly advanced species is somehow stupider than our modern military command. I just don't see how a species would travel countless light-years just to show up and go whoops we have no defense against a missile.

There's been footage even A Navy Destroyer came in contact with one. They didn't attack or anything they know better. But this ufo went straight under water then shot out at the speed of light into space. Also if you search you will see UFOs would hover over Nuclear sites and control everything. They can launch and stop the launch of Missiles. The guy working said he could not stop the launch. But miraculously the ufo stopped it. If it is Aliens , they know everything about us . And the reality is they have full control and power over us already. I doubt even a nuclear missile would destroy a spaceship !! The technology they must have is unimaginable!! I believe most of these weapons created are from Alien weapons. Ill never forget a contractor who worked at Area 51 . Said he came in contact with 3 still alive and shot at them. One he said Zapped him and the laser cut him in half. Somehow he survived, even Doctors said that whatever did it is not from this planet or anything they ever seen.
