    drummer here and always admire guitar players because of the ridiculous chord changes and movements that it takes to make a song. i prefer to hit things, not make my fingers move like this, but i wish i had the patience to do so. very well done as always.

      thanks, you get used to doing it, just takes practice the same as drums :)

    He doesn't show his head because he is actually Alex lifeson

    Absolutely superb. I like how you compensate the lack of whammy bar by "shaking" the guitar, it's really cool.

    Bass player here. Love the control, the tone, and the way you use the outside of your palm to tremolo the strings at the bridge is a nice touch!

    One of my all time favorite RUSH songs. It's a pleasure to watch you play the guitar part. Always loved hearing it, so seeing it really is cool. You really made that solo sound amazing.

    That chord progression that goes from 1:03-1:08 has always fascinated me for the last TWO DECADES! And it's not just merely having a "good ear." It's about getting inside Alex Lifeson's head and decoding the program running through his brain to produce such an incredible mapping system of great melodies!
    I applaud you that you can actually hack Alex's musical thought process like that.

      totally, the whole song has fascinated me for 4 decades since I bought it in '82..

    • @philbouchard9481
      @philbouchard9481 Месяц назад +1

      The thing about Alex's playing/chord progressions is that once you see what is really going on, it's the most basic chords with open strings ringing the entire time. Something so simple and straight-forward sounds so full and complex, the simplicity throws you off the entire time. It's frustrating, because you can never figure it out properly, then see what it really is and it's so "simple". His playing has always been that way. The genius of Alex Lifeson!!!!!

    • @lotusglobe2671
      @lotusglobe2671 Месяц назад +1

      @@philbouchard9481 I know what you mean. The first song I ever learned by Rush was (believe it or not) the title track from Hemisphere's. It still floors me that Alex uses mostly open chords. Yet he creates such a unique language that no other guitarist was coming up with at that time.
      And so the complexity lies not so much in whether he's playing a lot of suspended 13th chords but how he plays simple chords in the most unorthodox way. And with lots of texture and sculpting tone.

  • @markjones4508
