    Beautiful firearm but NO, I’m not interested in anything that has ammunition availability issues. Thanks for sharing Dan. Lets see that EDC.

  • @Quality_Guru

    The round is still affordable and considering that you get a 9mm barrel it makes it a good option. What makes it a a big “No” for me is the lack of an optics cut. It’s a great pistol for the last decade.

  • @rbm6184
    @rbm6184 26 дней назад +13

    You answered you own question. Ammo lack of availability. Some calibers I am just not a fan of and this is one of them. 5.7 is another. .357SIG is another. Odd ball necked pistol rounds just don't interest me. Always consider them novelties. Thanks for sharing.

      @@TheFireArmGuy Its like most folks would pick an MP5 over a P90 simply due to 9mm being more common and available than 5.7. That does not mean that the necked pistol calibers are bad, just that they are not common and available. Personally to me they are novelty calibers and why they don't interest me.

    As an oddball type of person, I think it's kind of interesting. 2,000 fps out of a pistol is moving! 50 Jacketed HP for about $25 isn't that bad and it's center fired. I still use iron sites very well, so not having an optic is fine with me. I know the majority vote is gonna be a no, but I wouldn't mind giving it a try!

    Ammo that is hard to get is one thing that I want to stay away from. So, the .22 TCM ammo is something that I wouldn't even consider. But if I saw this at a good price, I'd consider it because of the 9mm capability and I'd just ignore the .22 TCM capability.

    Hey Dan, I got the X Fire and I actually like it. In terms of ergonomics, it is very similar to the CZP07. Of course, the internals are more like a Glock with only the barrel and the magazine being interchangeable. I too had trigger pinch issues due to the trigger safety protruding out, had to polish and smooth it out. The trigger is very heavy coming in at 7.7 lb, but it does have a very nice and clear break. As I have slightly larger hands, it fits in my hand a lot better than other compacts. I hope you are enjoying yours!

    @Range-Report 24 дня назад

    I'd grab one if the price was right, not so much for the TCM but to have a nice 1911 in 9mm...the tcm barrel would just be a bonus that I'd use once in a while just for the fun of it. You're right about availability though. If the prices of these guns were better from the beginning, there would have been enough demand to have more than one supplier manufacture the round.

    I enjoy the 1911 platform. As long as the Rock Island is not a jam-o-matic, I think it is a very nice handgun. It would make a great range and home defense handgun.if you can find the 22 ammo, that is a bonus. My 22lr conversion kit for my shadow 2 was so expensive. I should have just bought a Taurus TX-22 (awesome range gun).

    You can buy a decent 12g shotgun for $250 (Mossberg Maverick 88 Security pump action) and a decent handgun for $250 (Armscor/Rock Island Armory M200 revolver). Best to steer clear of self-loading firearms at this price point IMO.

    Dan, I have ONE RIA remaining. I am simply not happy with the quality of this brand. The one I still have is the Rock Ultra double-stack 10mm. It is SO unreliable, it no longer goes to the range. However, I have found it to be 100% reliable with a high speed Underwood (15--fps) cartridge. For that reason I keep it purely as a home def. firearm. No, I would never buy another RIA product.

  • @DanielEastwood25
    @DanielEastwood25 25 дней назад +1

    22TCM is an interesting round, but its downfalls are avaiability and reliability. Sometimes they are reliable and often they aren't. Mostly because of the bottlenecks cartridge in a 1911 platform. 9mm, 45acp, and 10mm are much more reliable simply by being straight walled cartridges. I'm sure yours has been very reliable, but there's plenty that have not been. I'd only trust it as a range toy.
    Also needing 2 different brushes for the bore/chamber are a little inconvenient.
    RIA 1911s are AWESOME but the 22tcm is not relevant in my opinion and experience. Thanks Dan!

    I remember when Classic Firearms released this Ermox line. This Glock clone and the Benelli M4 clone. But to talk of the 9mm.. They're cool. Not exactly a Glock clone when you get specific.. Parts wise.. But the think ppl didn't like was the trigger. But it's a duty trigger.. 6lbs? But the trigger group is Gen3 Glock, correct? Easy fix. And for a 22 1911?? Let me say... The 22 1911 in the gun world is like pink polos.. Everyone likes them, has one or wants one, but no one will admit it..

  • @MrRawnch
    @MrRawnch 25 дней назад

    Yes, it's still relevant if you're willing to train with it and procure the ammo. I feel like every gun pundit is trying to phase out any caliber that isn't 9mm, and frankly, it's lazy and tiring. I could see this being a great caliber for competition and self defense since it's a fast moving and hard hitting round. At 10 yards, this caliber makes will do what it needs to do and 10 rounds in a 1911 is plenty.
    After seeing 9mm prices jump in 2020, I see that people have fallen back into complacency. Ammo makers won't expand offerings if people don't try new things.

    If we are imagining that it comes soley as .22 TCM, here in Iowa...just like Michigan it is irrelevant to me. Ammo for it is WAY too hard to find. Same with the .30 Super Carry. Got no use for either if I'm going to A). pay an arm and a leg for the ammo or B). have to order it on-line and pay an arm and leg for the ammo plus shipping.
    If the price is right, the gun is pretty cool and would be worth it for the 9mm. barrel alone, and the .22 TCM barrel can stay in the case for eternity.

  • @joshandmanuela

    5.7x28 is more expensive but it's a NATO cartridge and there is more than one manufacturer for the guns and ammo. 22 TCM is restricted to what Rock Island and Armscor puts out so it might be good for the moment but 10 years from who knows.

    I wish it was relevant, that's a fun cartridge to shoot. Powerful with very little recoil and a built in flash bang (everyone on the range gets a free ear pro test). I built a P80 with the 22TCM9r conversion. Great range toy but ammo availability keeps me from practicing with it enough to make it my carry.
    It's a better size cartridge than 5.7x28 and way cheaper than 7.5 fk but unfortunately not as relevant than either....
    Now if S&W would just make their folding carbine in 30SC.....

    That last pistol is interesting but primarily I'm only interested in 2 calibers with automatics that's the 45 and the 9 mill I still have an old Smith and Wesson 44 magnum but it's not the long barrel. Its the 4 inch barrel that's a hoot to shoot. I have mostly shot only 44 specials in it. Carried the thing when I was on the police department back in the late 60s. We could carry anything back then and I often also would carry a 1911. I know what that pistol can do . l carried 2 in the jungle in the 60s and I can definitely say my life was saved at least twice using one of those when I ran out of ammo for my M14.

    .22tcm would have worked better in a tokarev length magazine. Sticking with that 45acp length mag really limits projectile length and weight. The 22tcm 9r is practically shooting a pellet. Of course it might not matter. We all know why you don't see any handgun calibers with velocities much over 2000fps.

  • @billparks7368
    @billparks7368 25 дней назад

    I don't see a need for it to begin with. There's already 22 mag, now the 5.7 with similar ballistics. There are already 22lr 1911 conversions. The only pro I see is you can use the 9mm mags. The cons are price and availability.
    And the 22 mag and 5.7 have multiple platforms. The TCM doesn't.
    The 357 SIG is another "why bother" round. 🤷🤦

  • @stinger8634
    @stinger8634 25 дней назад

    Cool yes. But ammo is the issue. The gun industry and shooting culture has pretty much focused on 9mm primarily for semi auto production pistols. Followed by 10mm, 380 and 45acp. 40, 357sig, 45gap, 9x18, 32 and 25auto have all fallen off in popularity because the “push” of 9mm being the “standard” round for self defence in semi autos. It’s cost effective for companies to make a single gun in 9mm compared to a gun with multiple caliber options. Along with guntubbers pushing 9mm down our throats. 22, 22mag and 5.7 have had moments in the last few years but most people unfortunately are on the 9mm train. Especially new shooters who believe it’s the only round. Yes it’s cheap, available and a NATO round. But people are unwilling to try other rounds and guns because of the culture following 9mm that it is the all you need round and of course the push of “you need the most capacity” in a gun.

    Hmmmm…… haven’t heard much of the ermox since its debut. Not a Glock guy either.

    I've looked at this gun previously and thought hmmm, bet that round just won't catch on. When they offered the 9mm conversion I though "Hah! I was right!" I still think I'm right. I'm a 1911/2011 junkie. I have a good supply of .45, a much bigger supply of 9mm and about the same supply of 5.56. I'm a bit worried by all the crime and civil unrest, and our failing position in the world. I'm too old to go to war, but I sure as hell willing to protect my own. No way do I ever want to count of finding an obscure cartridge to do that. So after all that ranting, I think you'll believe me when I say that the .22 TCM round and all weapons firing that round were never relevant to begin with. And no - I not a white supremacist, proud boy or right wing nutcase nazi. I'll do what I can for as long as I can to protect people that I care about. Thanks Dan - Pat

    I'm not a RIA fan or a 22tcm fan. So I don't have an educated opinion on this. For me personally no I don't think this is relevant at all
