Aurora's music is frequently inspired by nature. She told The Sun: "'Running With The Wolves' is about freedom and joining nature again, getting away from phones and radio and all the stuff we keep around us."
Aurora wrote the song during the blood moon in 2014. She told The 405: "I just imagined the moon turning all the people around the world into wild animals, running away from all the rules, all the materialism and technology. Just being a part of nature again, running free."

@@fiddibelow that's not how poetry works bro. It's not literal in nature, just like it's not actually about running next to actual wolves. Next someone will say it's about becoming a Christian because "Higher Grounds" and "The Flood", or someone else may say bc thousands from the Nordic countries died in the Kao Lac Tsunami that's what she's referencing, which would be just as literal an interpretation. She wrote this as an 11 yearold child btw.
But it has without a doubt grown with her and now it bears deeper meaning to her, and the arrangements and video are created by the adult artist.
I know lots of people (especially Americans) go deep into the rabbit hole of Viking lore these days fuelled by lots of popculture, tvshows etc. Almost religiously. It's hardly representative of modern Nordic writers, musicians and artistry in some literal way (save maybe a few metal bands) We aren't half as obsessed with our literal history as across the pond.
But we are very much bound by a love for the untamed, unowned nature in a way that's different from most Americans and has always been a serious part of the culture, so people over there who claim girls like Greta Thunberg have been brainwashed are also totally unaware of the actual Nordic culture. Which also is alot less overtly patriarchal than US culture in many ways. Children in Scandinavia are very concerned about what's happening to our natural resources, and our nations are very modernized now, to the extent every child has a modern personal cellphone, most often also a laptop, and society is almost entirely cash free, personal identification is digital, so is taking a local buss or travelling abroad, all banking, and even social life to a huge degree. Which is what she's clearly adressing according to her own words and the illustrative video.
Art is about personal expression and intuitive choices of arrangements, imagery etc and not always meant to be understood one way or at all in the most intimate sense ie what the personal story is for said artist which may not ever be shared. But Aurora is quite illustrative in this video I'd say, and often shares the article she read, or idea she had, that inspired her to write her songs. That however isn't meant to stop anyone who appreciates the work from having their own experience of meaning. So if you want it to be about Vikings, by all means feel free.
But don't comment like it's anything but your personal point of reference and choice.
To someone else the song might be about Kevin Costner from an old film with the same title, but eh...I think you get my point.

    Aurora is a "musical activist".
Thisvidis about breaking free from the web (of technology and gadgets) How many of us can really break free and "run with our wolfpack" these days? She's very into nature and taking care of "mother earth" for future gens. She also made a lot of music about our psyke. Most of her music have deep meaning and/or several layers to it.
    Thnx for ur marvellous react!
All the best from Arctic LoVe Islands, Norway 🤗

I really enjoyed that song, it is not something that I would have listened to myself as I had never heard of the singer before & this is why we need people like you Jamel to open our eyes & ears to different talents. I know you are just discovering a lot of these singers yourself & that's what makes it fun seeing your reaction at the same time as mine. Thank you. Xx🇬🇧❤️

I was amazed by her a couple of years ago, but I really didn't pick up on her until her last album dropped. After that I've been obsessed with her. Her three albums have been on repeat for months and I've seen pretty much all her live performances on RUclips. Last week I finally saw her live in Oslo and it was absolutely amazing. Do not hesitate one second if you have the chance to see her live. Watching her live is on a completely different level. Not to be missed! ❤️

Oh joy! Several Aurora reactions. Thank you, today you are my hero. Aurora's music videos are always stunning and very well thought thru, and as you will discover, her vocals are just as good live as in her studio recordings, if not better.
She almost never performer a song the same as in the studio version, instead giving her live performances something new and she will often sing the same song differently live, depending what her mood feels like. A good example of this is All Is Soft Inside where she sometimes will sing the clearest A5 and other times just totally rock out, she has done both versions live on KEXP.
The emotion she conveys is much more important to her then hitting the high notes, she reaches D6, but as far as I can think of has only used it at the end of the Running with The Wolfs studio recording and both live on the studio recording and live in Soft Universe.
Same song, same title but done two different times live on KEXP and no I will not tell you witch one is witch. 😊

I have defintly been under a rock,as it has passed me by that you reacted to Aurora. She is that special diamond of an artist. I know many does get caught up in her unique ways of express herself. I guess she said it best herself: "i have allways heard that i am strange since i was a kid, there was this one time at school where we did a IQ test, and i happened to score pretty high on it,the others started laughing at me,and i asked them why they were laughing?" "You are so strange" they said, and i asked them "why do you think so?". She didnt get no clear answers, but they gave her an idea of she was saying and doing strange things/words. Other then that, she describes her childhood as really good. Her parents choosed to embrace her unique ways, and when she came home with imaginary friends, they would put on plates for the imaginary friends as well. They never chased a diagnosis on her, that might have ended up making her feel even more "out of place".
She is a sharp, well spoken and absolutely humble, positive and caring sweetheart as a person. She even has some great humour. Still you can see in her live performances,in her videos that "she is truly unique from the other artists, there is something else there". But as long as it doesnt hurt her, slow her down from progressing as a human, things like that......it is A OKAY!
Dont know if you have heard Massive Attacks Teardrop? Its very funky but also "laidback". Aurora did a cover of that song live on a Australian radio show. Absolutely mindblowing!

Yes, Miss Auroras Lyrics are deep, so the videos are also a part of the message as a whole. She seems to have a unik ability to see and describe how everything is connected and also interacts in all levels. She is attached to wires, wires that leads to the big city, in the background. She is singing (and in other songs as well) about who our "connected" way of living our lives in big concrete cities has disconnect us with nature to the point that we no longer are able to "read" the signs ( running out of time) the nature are telling us, that we are destroying life on this earth. The guy in the car lead the thoughts to ..... the hunters moon in mythology leads the thoughts to....The wolves... the water.... These are some of my reflections about this song.Thank you for a very nice reaction Jamel_AKAJamal!

when "the Hunter's moon is shining" is the moments where I realized I'm surrounded by criminals and junkies and I gotta go with the flow of the wolf pack to make it to home and morning safely or eat them.✌🏻I feel like the chorus is kind of a rebel party driven feel for me. Maybe cuz that's how u have to be around meth heads. The car and woods seems to be a nod to the show Hanna I saw this song on.

If you're watching her stuff go in order. It may be better that way especially when u hit infections of a different kind and a different kind of human, (Step 1 and 2) which is interconnected. That and her first album and eps are kind of connected too. It may be a bit selfish of me but I'd appreciate as many song reactions as u can. If u react to murder song react to the extended version from her mini documentary. Her interviews are also a treat to watch, just a tip even if u don't record your reaction. Welcome to the queendom. :)
Stick to her live performances unless you're watching her ep stuff, winterbird or a different kind of human (give it a month or two more for watching the lives for these, or at least watch something recent, in my personal opinion she's just started to become used to the songs so she'll be more aware of how she wants execute them = eargasms. Even so watch the music video for the river and the seed. ) or I went too far which has great music videos and If u find a version of a song in Nidarosdomen. Watch it, that concert is a fan favourite. All of her songs guarantee goosebumps there... Sorry if I was a little overzealous...

I'm not perfect on this but it appears that she's escaping a controlling force. That has a wide range of possibilities.... Could be the literal man, could be a substance, could be a habit...or many other things. She's strugglign throughout the video to take control of her life and in the end she does it. She takes ownership of her fate. I dont want to go into specifics because I dont think specifics are important, it's meant to be empowering.
