      I have a great example of positive thinking that isn't New Thought. I had a physical therapy appt in a town 30 miles away. As I was leaving the VA facility, my car was pulling HARD to the right. I got out to check it and my right passenger tire was completely flat. I thought positively and thanked God that it didn't blow out 1/2 way between the VA and my house. The roads are very icy and there is nothing but mountains between here and there. The wrecker got to my location and the tire place was about 2 blocks from the VA. Now, if I had thought (pun intended) that somehow I had caused my tire to go flat because of my negative attitude about having to drive an hour on icy roads, that would be L.O.A. type conditioning. The only reason I thought about this example is because I had seen one of your podcasts and was trying to explain; to a friend of mine; the difference between generic positive thinking, and the Power of Positive Thinking. They were confused about the difference and I was trying to explain the difference, but my explanation wasn't working. Now, I have a better example to give them.

    I'm getting this book. I have heard this New Thought verbiage throught my entire Christian journey of over 50 years. I have recognized much of it as man's attempt to be their own God, the original deception suggested by the serpent to Eve and Adam. Thank you for this content. It is so important, because it is rampant in Evangelical churches. Bethel in Redding comes quickly to mind. I've heard all of this in church after church throughout the decades. The subtlety requires discernment, and a close study of the scriptures. God bless you for putting out this message and book.

      That's why it makes sense why Christ founded One True Church, so that one True church could defend against all these deceptions and protect the truth that was revealed to the apostles, until his secondcoming. If you go back in history, you would see that that church is the Catholic church. Yes , the Catholic church has a lot of corruption, but there's been corruption since the apostles, but the fullness of the Christian truth has been protected by the Catholic church.

      One of the tricky things is that there ARE measurable frequencies on thoughts as well as objects, substances, etc. But I think af Moses, disobediently wielding power.
      The other trap I see is that Christians are so (rightfully) concerned with going into new age stuff, that they embrace the unbiblical idea of cessation, that God no longer expects Chridt-followers to obey Him - they are to preach the gospel, but NOT to have faith that God wants them to be His conduit to heal others, which causes them to deny the power of the Holy Spirit.
      There are believers who are strictly biblical - healing in Jesus' name - who can SCRIPTURALLY SHOW how our thoughts affect our faith, thus Paul tells us we have to discipline our minds and bodies, presenting ourselves a living sacrifice. Our brains and thoughts DO matter because it affects what we trust God with, and Jesus made it clear that outcomes depend on our faith.
      The deceptions of the new age tap into the power of the prince of the air. But too many believers are failing to obey Jesus fully over fears about new age.
      But Melissa is spot on that there are people who say they are Christian while being miles off of what the word says. I was horrified to hear one such person say she no longer believes we need forgiveness of sin. Devout on the outside, until you scratch the surface. She now insists on "inclusive" churches. Before I figured out what that meant, I went to church with her...the sermon was so bad, I immediately saw that the speaker was making up feel-good lessons that had no bearing on the point of the passage.

      @@jdl2180Wait, what do you mean that unless God told you himself that the Bible is the word of God? Why isn’t it? Has God not spoken through His many prophets. And what did He say? By the way, we are all like sheep, just like Jesus said, we are all prone to wander, our heart can deceive us. Back in the garden, Eve told Satan that God had told them to not eat of the Tree which would lead to their death. Satan planted a seed of doubt into their minds about God’s motives; He didn’t want them to be like Him. We can’t ever be like God because we are His creation, and so we’re dependent for our very life on Him. Check it out for yourself, it’s in the first chapters of the first book of the Bible, Genesis. You can almost hear the lies drip from Satan’s mouth as he tells Eve, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” (Genesis 3:1). We must all be discerning to not let the subtle lies of Satan trick us into believing him instead of believing the truth of God.

    • @BillTony2
      @BillTony2 24 дня назад

      If a person claims to be a Christian, then you can respond with the following statement and question. That’s great that you’re a Christian. What was your understanding of the gospel when you first became a Christian? Listen to the response and trust the Holy Spirit to lead you with the proper response to their response.
      An alternate question that works for pretty much anybody in case you’re not sure if they’re Christian or not is the following. Do you mind if I ask you a spiritual question? In my experience, most people will say sure go ahead. Ask this: do you believe in God why or why not? I’ve used the approach and people tell me a lot. Then I can respond appropriately.
      People tend to be kind of fuzzy on the gospel. To keep it clear and simple. I suggest to passages in John to look at if you can show it to them great if not, just be aware of it for yourself and share the gospel from this background.
      Read John 16: 8-11 and John3:16-18 . John 16:8-9 really focuses on the fact that belief in Jesus is the key and it focuses on that sin. People often want to talk about sins in the plural, but I like this text because it focuses on the sin singular of unbelief as the key.

    • @tamaraelsberry6630
      @tamaraelsberry6630 6 дней назад

      How about following what Jesus taught while interacting with these other Christians. It's the second great commandment.
      "Love your neighbor as yourself". It's what God requires of you. He doesn't ask you to be the "thought police" of your neighbor. Live by example, as Jesus did. Then when they see the good fruits of your life, they will desire it for themselves..

    • @BillTony2
      @BillTony2 6 дней назад

      @@celinemartinez7831 I would ask something like this. Do you mind if I ask you a question? As a Christian, what do you think it takes to get to heaven?
      From this question, you can determine if they are relying on Grace alone by faith alone in Christ alone. Since they’re into new thought, but claim to be Christians, they probably won’t have the right answer. So in a positive way with a smile, ask them if you can show them in the Bible how they can be 100% sure of going to heaven.
      The two scriptures that I use from the book of John because that is really about getting people to become believer in Jesus are the following: John 16:8-11 and John three:16-18 . The first one deals with the Holy Spirit’s role in working on the unbeliever. I like it because in every translation that I’ve looked at sin is singular in verse eight and immediately Jesus describes sin as unbelief. I like this because it keeps me from having to get into debates about particular sins whether it be LGBTQ or something else. Ultimately I can use John 3:18 as the crescendo of not being condemned because of faith alone in Christ alone for his grace.
      For a person who does that, then they will be born again, and the Holy Spirit can work on him from the inside out. For me, I let people know that God does not encourage sin, but none of us will go to heaven because of our actions. Everyone in heaven will be there because of their belief in Christ and regardless of actions unbelief in Christ will send a person to hell.
      That’s my approach .

    I the 70s, I got drawn into a Spiritualist Church in London called the White Eagle Lodge, which was very New Thought and superficially it appeared to be Christian. It was linked to Theosophy too, yet there were a lot of people who came through the doors thinking it was a 'normal' Church. However, initiates experienced other things, such as seances to discover your spirit guide, for example, as well as astrology and Yoga. When I saw Jesus during a seance, it was like mentioning a dirty word, the figure I described was too clearly the biblical Jesus rather than some supernatural being expressing their inner Christ. Apparently JC operates on a lower spiritual plane than the other elevated spiritual beings. Thankfully Jesus continued to reveal himself to me, until I finally recognised my utter need for him. For Jesus Christ, God's only Son and my Saviour and Lord for the last 45 years.

    A South African here.
    Certainly in our church world here at the southern tip of Africa the nomenclature you discuss here aren't prevalent.
    Much of it, though, did start to ring bells with me.
    Melissa, I've come across the very same worldview when studying CW Leadbeater and the "Liberal Catholic Church" for my research on the Kundalini spirit (15 years ago) and its prevalence in the worldwide institutional church. CW Leadbeater was the understudy of Annie Besant and, to some degree, Madame Blavatsky. Leadbeater acted as co-founder of the Theosophical Society.
    To them, the "Christ principle" was basically what is known as Kundalini and its interaction with (for lack of a better term!) "the force" (Star Wars term). "The force", in my Christian understanding, is the created energy which cannot be measured with scientific instruments.
    The millennia-old pagan way of tapping into this vast "vat" of created, potential energy is to activate the Kundalini serpent in the spine - a practice which you would be very familiar with from your New Age days.
    So what am I saying? I'm saying that what you are dealing with in New Thought is most probably not a mere mindset or worldview. It's basically just one more version of the pagan philosophy (there are MANY!) of tapping into "the force" by means of Kundalini. What makes it so dangerous, as you've well stated, is that it's clothed in Christian jargon.

    Always believed in God and Jesus. My friend prayed for me since I didn't understand the Holy Spirit. I also had 4 years of sadness, angry, jealously over 2 people who broke my heart. My other friend said she didn't want to talk about my ex. She wasn't being mean but rather pretty much not talk about him so much or rather I think need to focus on my own life. So many months it continued to stay on my mind and then I thought it's time to forgive. I at that point, asked God to forgive me, asked everyone to forgive me even though I didn't ask them. Then I was told by God to open my Bible. It was then I realized I understood the Holy Spirit. ❤ I was reborn.

At the time I was a relatively new Christian and thought that this arm of the 'Christian' Church was legitimate, though I found it strange/esoteric in its teachings. The congregation comprised older affluent people. I wasn't drawn into it but can see how people of a particularly intellectual bent could find it mysteriously attractive. An older friend became very immersed and delivered lectures on Swedenborg's teachings. His life did not end well. Thank you for raising awareness.

There are so many testimonies of people who transformed their lives ( from prison, drugs, alcohol, gangs…) who have given their life to Jesus and are changed people.
    He says that people know what they have done wrong. Through the Word of God the people get transformed. People pick on him but he has brought more people to Jesus than many out there.

The enemy tries to destroy the real believe too... It's all about Jesus, and Jesus did mirracles too, and yes we should believe in mirracles too and obey the LORD if he speaks to us to belive in this. SPIRITUAL FIGHT: “For our fight is not against flesh and blood but against..spiritual wickedness in high places.”
    So..please explain how these two theological ideas are NOT “new thought”?
    She criticizes the “New Age” spirituality but she talks about the devil.
    Both Christianity and New Age have a promote “spiritual” part..and she is here to use the logical fallacy of “special pleading” by trying to say Christianity spirituality is different and correct.
    All the questions she asks at 22:00 about New Age can be equally asked about Christianity..so maybe the actually problem IS Christianity?

However, if you look into ancient Jewish thought you will know that numbers and letters are ultimately connected. Modern day science has confirmed God within advanced mathematics. In this case, we can produce the things that we want and know by understanding reality, it is spiritual manner that is connected to scientific revelations. I agree with some points as I'm not into new age/new thought, BUT, if you do not believe that Jesus said that we will do what He did, and even greater, what do you believe? Your coming against bible verses that are still valid for today! I believe that every word in the bible is valid and true for today. If you don't, what's the point of calling yourself a Christian? If the cross is still valid, so is what Jesus accomplished at the whipping post. Yes, these things are for us today. I've seen the healing of other people come from my hand being placed on them, without speaking a word (Mark 16:17-18), and even commanding something to go in Jesus name (Luke 9:1 & 10:19). What we today call prayer cloths still work! (Acts 19:11-12). Healing and deliverance take place because of the authority that Jesus gave us, and by the power of the Holy Spirit residing inside of us, which flows out to other people. If your a cessationist and say that healing and deliverance aren't for us to walk in today, your too late! I've done it and have seen others do it! Just remember, if we don't believe the testimony that we have in Jesus, we're calling God a liar (1John 5:10). I had shared this video on FB before I watched the entire thing, but then I removed it because even though you may be opening peoples eyes to some things, your lying about the validity of God's word for today, and I think that that would be confusing for people who are not grounded in God's word, especially when your coming from a dead christianity cessationist point of view...

      I haven't been to a church that teaches like that (but have heard televangelists like that - and I always tuned them out). But I've also spent a lot of time in Scripture and missionary biographies, and saw that God provides, and that Brother Andrew, for example, list supporters when someone gave him a new Volkswagon to transport Bibles into iron curtain countries.
      I never forgot that. And I have missionaries in my family with their own stories.

    So this is where my confusion is. "New thought" I was told explains how faith and the spiritual realm works essentially like a science because it explains order for how God operates and created people to operate. I was told the reason for this self-help/new age way of thinking was a way to essentially hijack what God created for servicing yourself without being subject to divine authority. "New thought" really originates from Christianity and the language was formulated by new agers that caused Christians to disregard the science of "new thought". But now since Christians operate by the principles of faith without having the same "language", ex-newagers are saying that Christians are operating in new age way of thinking but it was principles of God's design to begin with, when Christians are being accused of using new age tactics it's really new agers that have used the fundamental spiritual principles to serve their own desires in the first place. The problem with using "new thought" in christianity is when Christians use spiritual principles to serve themselves vs serving God and eachother. The spiritual principles are not evil, the self-serving intent in how you practice faith is. You're blaming the "gun" for being satanic, it's a tool that's used to serve an agenda, either yours or God's kingdom purposes. Those "angels" were revealing truth but in a perverted way to stroke the self-serving desires of that author, to live independently without God.

    • @drrightlife
      @drrightlife 26 дней назад +1

      There are only two ways of perceiving or thinking about reality: One is that all reality is basically a Oneness Unity SAMENESS, often called Quantum, Love, Energy, Vibrations, "Source", etc. The correct view is Discontinuity of reality between the Absolute Living Personal Infinite Creator Ontological Trinity. Read Peter Jones' books One or Two and The Other World View, and Rousas John Rushdoony's By What Standard, The Word of Flux, The One and The Many, by Francis Schaeffer his 3 book Trilogy, Nancy Pearcey Finding Truth, Steven Bancarz' book Second Coming of The New Age... If all reality is a basic Oneness SAMENES, then it is non personal with no abstract concepts or meaning or purpose, a deterministic closed machine... If the Personal Creator is Reality, then differentiations are possible and human created persons have cognizance and rationality and ability to make limited decisions between recognized alternatives, and we are accountable to the Ultimate Reality of the Personal Creator. The only alternative to the Personal Creator Who determines, owns, controls all reality is the Autonomous Independent SELF trying to control all reality by from for SELF by exempting SELF from the machine, a contradiction of Oness SAMENESS.
