  • A Voyage Into Stone Island_Episode 2
Following 'Carlo Rivetti's tour', the first video that Carlo Rivetti commissioned to reveal the top level skills that contribute to creating Stone Island garments and collections, the video camera focuses on the individual departments.
The second episode is dedicated to the experimental dyeing facility, a sophisticated colour workshop, where all the phases of the garment dyeing treatments are fine tuned. This know how is one of the company's greatest assets and, since the very beginning, has set Stone Island apart on the sportswear scene.
Claudia Bergamini, Head of the Dyeing Facility, demonstrates the processes for double dyeing technique on the finished garment, one of the many possible variables for obtaining different colours and shades in the same dye bath.

    Enjoy
    Viaggio all'Interno di Stone Island_Episodio 2
    Buon divertimento

how do they control shrinkage when 2 separate fabrics are being used in one dye bath? They are shrinking the same amount?

  • @DeeManSony

So I’m no chemist but the two fabrics had completely different colours from the same wash , is there a specific reason for this ?

The process of dyeing natural fibers is different to the process of dyeing synthetic fibers. The blue dye only dyes the cotton fabric, the red color only dyes the nylon fabric. The cotton parts of the jacket can't absorb the red dye and the nylon parts of the jacket can't absorb the blue dye.
