राजा बली पृथ्वी आगमन दिवस महाराष्ट्र मे कोंकण कर्नाटका में कानडा प्रांत में मध्ययुग में भी मनाया जाता था जीसका आगे "गणपती" का अपभ्रंश करके गणेशोत्सव मनाया जाता है।
गणो का राजा बली याने "गणराज" का ब्राह्मणीकरण करके राजा बली का वाहन हाथी के सर की मूर्तीया बनाकर "गणेश" भगवान का त्योहार बनाया गया ।
गणेशोत्सव भी १० दिन का होता है और ओणम भी १० दिन का ही होता है दोनो त्योहार भाद्रपद में होते है।
It was Raja Bali ( related to vamana story not sugriva's brother ) whose symbol was used by Jyotiba Phule because Raja bali is considered as just and ideal king in south west India. Phule also used to refer India as Balistan as an alternative to Hindustan.

" Bali " venerated by Phule here isn't Sugriva's brother from Ramayan. Phule refers to "King Bali" from Waman Awtara. That is the king from Kerala's Onam festival.

Poona sarvajanik sabha was founded by mainly Maval , gopal krishna gokhle , MG Ranade R G Bhandarkar 1875 in Pune , it was socioPolitical Sabha , Mainly to work within the British Governments rights ,but to work for common people , and send the messeges from lower class , uneducated people to the collectors and law makers , it had almost all the members working in courts in some or the other way , This is the base of Congress , all these members in this Sabha were the founding members of congress in 1885
