Peanut is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Have run into Peanut multiple times on my photography outings! Love running into him and I am a Canon shooter!
@@PeanutChuAdventures Thank you..I am a digiscoper living in the Netherlands. I shoot video through my birdingscope with a Sony a 6300 body attached to the scope using manual focus only. I am on the look for a real photographic set.. I need reach.. do you think I cannot go wrong with the z9/800mmPF? I saw in some of your videos you use a raincoat.. you do not use the buttons or rings on the lens when you have the raincoat on the lens? Thanks for subscribing 😀👍
Hi Ron, Yes, the z9/800pf is a great combo. I find that the z9 renders super video quality along with very good AF. There is a little learning curve with the AF. I did a video on how I use the AF. I am very pleased with the 800PF sharpness is extremely good and the AF is very fast and sticky. I just got the 600mmf4 TC, I only been using it for a month, so I have not tested it fully yet. But my finding is that the 600 may be slightly sharper with the fine feathering. But, I find the AF to be equal with the 800pf and 600. The 600mm can give you a little more light at f4, but you will be at 600 rather than 800. Final thoughts, the 800pf is pro level glass and I don't think you can go wrong with that combo. Yes, I dont use the manual focus or the focus distance preset buttons. Hope this helps., Let me know how everything turns out.
Hey Peanut, beautiful... especially when she was flying in areas with the same colors of her in the background! It looks like a lot of people were there, so it must be a very popular spot to photograph. Looks like you had an exciting day! Greg
Hi Greg, Thanks so much. Yes, people come here for the short eared owls, but many days they are not around, so this red tail was great entertainment for us. This was about 12 days of excitement. You coming with a video soon?
Hi Steve, also, if you are in half speed, then hit the right arrow, it will go to 1/4 speed. Did not want to get too confusing in the video. Thanks for watching.
Another AMAZING video!!! Thank you for sharing this. It looks like you have some great places to set up the cameras there. I LOVE red tail hawks. We have many here but it is not often that we get that close. Awesome stuff!!! 🙏🤗❤ PS - I forgot to say - I never look at images (when shooting wildlife) in the view finder. It is often deceiving.
Hey Johnny Pink, great hearing from you. Thank you. When I think I got something and I am waiting around, I cant wait(impatient), I have to look😎. And sometimes, I want to check exposure or background look. But you are right, its deceiving. I am have been out of pocket for the last 3 weeks. I have to binge watch your latest.
@@PeanutChuAdventures I do check exposure now and again when I dont have it set to auto ISO, but for the most part, watching the setting is so ingrained. Here, at least near me, we set up where ever we can. 🙏🤗❤
Hi S Foley, thank you, appreciate the kind words. . Some people at the location don't like the I put comments, so please send me an email at peanutchu@yahoo.com, thanks.

Hi Gustavo, always appreciate your comments. I am glad I could help with the tutorials. If you have any questions on video, send me an email at peanutchu@yahoo.com.
Cool footage and music Peanut! Its been a long time since I've seen a RTH. Flappy is beautiful!!! I started using the 800mm PF in March, but with the Z6 II. Focusing in video mode can be very slow but maybe this might be because of the Z6 II and maybe not the lens. Otherwise my experience with it has been great as well.
Hi Mike, first, thank you! I think you are asking about the thumbnail. No, for me taking pictures from video with action or birds in flight usually does not come out good because my shutter is set low for video, usually 250 - 400, so usually it gets a blurred wing. For stationary subjects, I film in 4k, so I think you can extract a 37mb still from it and that would work. I have not done it yet, I would rather switch to picture mode and take pictures so I have the settings that I want for the picture. Thanks for watching.
Thank you, maiksd. I have not used the 5.6 for a few months, but I have had some great memories with the 5.6. I think I am going to keep it, I do like the sharpness and background rendering of the 5.6. But, I feel the AF on the PF is slightly better. 🤔 Not sure what to do.
Hi Ramachandra, Thank you. I put this in the other comment also. The z800mm 6.3 is excellent. 1) AF is great. When large birds fly directly at you, it seems to stick better than the 800 5.6, otherwise the AF would be equal. I like capturing when they at fly at me, so I am enjoying he 800PF a little more with the AF 2) The sharpness is also excellent, but to me, the 800 5.6 sharpness goes to the next level. With video, its very hard to tell the difference. 3) The 800 5.6 renders a slightly smoother background. 4) The lightness is a huge plus. Ok, to save 10k usd, the 800 6.3 is great choice.
Awesome videos, and thank you for sharing them 🤗 I want to ask you if, strictly from a photography standpoint, (disregarding weight, size, cost, and videography), but considering AF, sharpness and background rendering, which one of the two lenses would be your go to lens for your Z9? Thank you 🙏 very much for your reply and your time! Florin
@@fabienrosat74 , with the z9, autofocus is smooth. I have used it with the 500PF and it works well, but I really enjoy the AF with the 800PF. When birds are flying directly at you, I find the 800PF hold focus, while I have had trouble with my 800 5.6 and 600 f4. I think the new S lens motors are faster. The z8 is supposed to be the same as the z9 for video, but I have not used it, so I cant comment on it. If you do get the z8, make sure you get a CF express that has high sustained read write, I use delkin black. Talk soon.
