My mom never had the patience to teach me how to make these traditional dishes :( thank you for being so informative I feel like you’re an older sister teaching me 😭❤️
Mexican food has always been my hands down, favorite food. But I have been too timid to try making an authentic mole', but you have encouraged me to give it a go with this video. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful gift with us here. Every dish you make that I have tried has turned out sooooo good.
I love Mexican food grew up in Chicago Illinois ( I am 59 ) and there was a neighbor that Made The best mole I ever had her cooking was out of this world I think your recipes are close to her Thank you for putting out these videos
Omg who doesn’t like mole I’m from Hawaii and Mexican peoples didn’t make it here since 1995 but Puerto Ricans have been here since plantation days before Hawaii even became a part of America.but when I tried it I was blown away it’s like something slapped my mouth with crazy flavor I was like I gotta have this in my life
I tried this recipe today and it was really tasty! Really rich, creamy and easy to make!! No need for sugar if you use semisweet chocolate instead of bitterswee
I love mole! My sister-in-law would make a huge batch of the sauce and put 3 or 4 cut up chickens in it and would cook the chicken until it was done. The mole flavor permeated the chicken and was soo good. I don't make my own sauce, but I do cook chicken pieces in the mole for that intense taste. This looks wonderful, but at my age and cooking for only one, I will not go to the trouble. I love watching your videos. They bring back memories of spending time at my in-laws homes and the wonderful aromas and food generated in their kitchens.
I tried this recipe yesterday and my hubby LOVED it! He's Mexican and gave it 2 thumbs up! I also love mole and it was so yummy! I used Abuelita chocolate tablets. I didn't have ground clove and only had whole cloves so I used my "pilon" to grind it up. Also used raisins since I didn't have prunes. Your recipe states 6-7 cups of chicken broth but I wasn't sure if this was including the broth you used for ur rice so I ended up using 7 cups of broth for the mole only. After about a 40 min simmer, I notice it was still a bit watery so I added bit of flour with water to thicken it up which it did perfectly and it did not change the flavor.
One of your San Antonio followers here-thanks for the Mi Tierra shoutout. I’ve never made mole sauce before; I always just use Doña Maria base in the jar. You’ve convinced me to make the effort though!
Susan Buentello i live in the RGV Rio Grande Valley,Mission.its waaaay south of SanAntonio njt when im going to S. A. Mi Tierra is a Definete Stop for us to eat! Love it there& yes your rignti also have used Dona Maria but now im So excited to do a From Scratch Mole Sauce too
I’m from Austin. I do like Mi Tierra but the wait can be too long. When in a rush, I go to Pico de Gallo across the freeway from Mi Tierra by the UTSA campus. Same food and menu.
My husband made mole for the family using your recipe. He used peanut butter and Mexican chocolate because that is what his mother used to use. I have never like mole but this was delicious! My brother in-law who is very picky said that it was the best mole he has ever tasted. Thank you for posting the recipe, this will be a family favorite for years to come.
I just want to give you a huge hug right now! I LOVE molé, but I've been unable to eat it in many years because most everyone makes it with peanut butter! Since i hit my 40's I developed a high intolerance to peanuts. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU , for this peanut free recipe! I'm literally crying with excitement to try making this! Because of you, I make the most delicious tortillas too!
You could be my new best friend. Mole sauce is my favorite Mexican sauce of all time. You just showed me how to make it in my own kitchen. Girl, I love you for this!
This gringo appreciates this amazing recipe. I love to cook Mexican food but I’ve always been intimidated by Molé. Even my Mexican mother in law who makes the worlds beat Posole won’t do it. Well, I did this one today step for step. Except I used peanut butter and Abuelita’s chocolate. Simmered it at the end with diced grilled chicken breast. Turned out AMAZING! Now my wife is bragging on social media. THANK YOU!
I made this recipe today and I was IMPRESSED at how easy it actually is to make by scratch. I never had mole before (I’m Mexican but I was a picky eater as a kid) and I’m so mad I’ve been missing out on this. 😂 This was so good, my sister enjoyed this recipe so much so this will be my go-to recipe. Thank u! ☺️💕✨
this has given me the confidence to try making my own mole - i always thought it would be long and complicated, but this is absolutely doable. mole is one of my absolute favorite things in the world, so this is very very exciting! also watching this made me so hungry, that looks so good 🤤
I can do this!! I thought making mole from scratch would be a difficult task. You make it look easy, and I think I have most ingredients on hand. I definitely will make mole. Thank you so much.
As an older white male who lived in SA after the Military for several decades and did not cook Mexican foods but now that I am in Harlingen your recipes have become a staple. Thank You!
Holy cow. This looks like my Grandma's recipe! She didn't use the Chipotle tho... She would fry the tortillas and bolios in lard. And roast things on the comal. Your way seems alot easier. Thank you so much! I'm now going to try my hand at mole!!!! I'm so excited! 😁 Woot!!!! SA native in the house!!! 🤠🤠🤠
Thank you for posting this since I have missed this so much. My son has food allergies, Celiac, IBs-D, well you get the idea. I have to watch out. This recipe is perfect and something I would like to share with him. ❤️❤️thank you for posting!
Oh my gosh! A few years ago, I worked in San Antonio for about 2 weeks. & my boys and I literally ate at MI Tierra 10 times. My first time having authentic Mexican and I've been obsessed ever since! 10/10 would recommend
I saw this video last night, knew I had all of the ingredients and made it today!!! I don’t like mole (I’m Colombian), I made it for my husband (He’s Mexican) and he said it was absolutely delicious! Yay! I did a few things different. I roasted the chiles on my comal/griddle, as well as the onions, garlic, green tomatoes and roma tomatoes. I don’t have ground clove or cinnamon. I only have them whole. So I toasted the whole gloves and pieces of whole cinnamon on the comal very quickly and then just ground them up along with the oregano with my mortar and pestle. I made my usual Mexican rice and I baked the chicken breasts just like you did. The only things hubby said was that he would like it a little spicier next time and that he rather have the chicken boiled than baked because he says the breasts have more flavor when boiled. So that’s the only thing I’ll do different next time. Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS RECIPE!!! I’ve tried other mole recipes and yours is by far the easiest to make and according to my husband, the most delicious.
Bless you. I made homemade mole a few years ago and loved it. Lost the recipe, and the couple of others I tried were not as good. Had mole out of the jar a couple of days ago and dreamed of the real thing. This looks like it. Thanks and love your channel.
I've never made mole...it always looked difficult! I'm going to try my hand at this instead of buying the store stuff. And Guittard is some of the best chocolate you can get!
Always wanted to learn how to make it from scratch. Thanks to your video I was able to make it and it came out so delicious. No more store bought Mole. This was better.
I love your approach to this without the abuelita chocolate. Growing up my mom used Abuelita for her mole but honestly I have always wanted to try to make it without soo much sugar. Thank you! Do you know how to make green mole?? I have been bingeing on your recipes lately lol but I haven’t found one for the green one. I tried to follow another recipe on YT for it but it was sooo complicated and it tasted off of what I’m used to. They added parsley and I trusted them 😂😖
Have you ever thought about getting a hand crank food mill? It makes sieving so much faster and easier. Only about 25 bucks. I'm going to have to try my hand at this. This is one of the few Mexican dishes I've never tried, but it always looks and smells fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
I tried making mole sauce years ago and it seemed too complicated. So either I'm getting older and my patience is growing or your recipe looks less complicated, either way I'm trying yours! I have everything except tomatillo's (which I'm not fond of) but will add anyway. I'm sure it's going to be great. Thank you mam!
I love the prunes! I really don't like raisins all that much. You know, I don't even need chicken. I pour mole into a bowl and eat it by dipping white bread into it! Love your recipe!
Yay from SA! I can relate so much with your cooking because bullion is everything lol I absolutely always look for your channel first when looking up any recipe
😋😍😊🙂😇🙋 This brings back memories my lovely grandma made yummy mole for holidays and birthday's. Your mole looks just like how my grandma made it 😊😋😎. Thanks for the video ❤️ you made my day 🙏 😇
Ooh let share that since I didn’t find that dark chocolate one in the store by me I ended up using Navitas organic cacao powder & it worked pretty good
Ohhhh my gawd! I love mole! I think you are heaven sent. 😆😍 I'm so excited to make this sometime hopefully soon. Thank you for all your time and work, it doesn't go unnoticed. 😁
Mmm I Love mole. If I never made a recipe before I usually use everything whatever the cook makes. I also Love both raisins and prunes. I look forward to making your mole sauce. The mole looks both perfect and tasty. Enjoy your evening.
As a black dude who never grew up with a mexican mother or grandmother cooking I'm trying to imagine how difficult this dish mustve been especially in the old old days with no food processor, blender, siv, stove top, oven ext. Food really brings the family together and when I first tried Mole sauce few years ago, 28 years old now, I was immediately obsessed.
Just subscribed to your channel. I watch your videos and I get so hungry OMG. My tummy is rumbling lol. I think you're an amazing cook. I'm going to try and make your mole sauce, I hope my family enjoys it. 🤗
Wow your mole looked so beautiful and I bet it tastes fantastic..love love love mole only I like dark meat..I'm going to try your recipe because it looked simple and on point..I just love your videos and recipes my friend.
Shout-out to SA and Mi Tierra! Our city is a great place for a springtime and wintertime honeymoon! If you have to stay local and you love Mexican food and culture, this is the place. I'm also a mole fanatic. 😉 Come back to SA soon and eat at a restaurant owned by the Barrios family. Order anything with the Mexicanas sauce. It will change your life.
I've been wanting to make this for years but have never been able to get fresh tomatillos in the UK. But now I have discovered we have a small fruit from the same species called Physalis that taste just the same! and I can find them everywhere! Like a little crunchy tart tomato. So if your from Europe or other countries look for physalis people! 💜😊
This is such a pretty sauce-and it looks delicious! We’re moving to Kingman, Arizona for our retirement at the end of the year, and I can’t wait to have better access to ingredients like chilies, spices, etc. I live in Pennsylvania, and it’s not always easy to find good ingredients without driving a ways.
I would eat your food too🤷♀️ everything you cook looks so delicious😄... I have cooked some of your recipes already and turned out lovely thanks to you! Making your water recipe this weekend for a party!❤️
I love chicken mole! Unfortunately no one else in my house does so I don’t ever make it! I live in San Antonio and love Mi Tierra and they are about to open a new location fifteen minutes from where I live in NW San Antonio.
Hey, in a pinch Doña Maria can give you a decent mole for dinner. I still dress it up...but it definitely doesn't compare to from scratch. Especially with molé negro or any other dark molé, there is such depth of flavor you can't achieve without going from scratch and taking the time.
I love, love your recipes! I’m from San Antonio and your recipes are just like the ones I grew up with. I just purchased your cookbook. Making your mole recipe today for a family dinner. Hope it turns out like yours. I’ve never made before, but absolutely love it - my mom used to make it. Unfortunately, she’s passed away & I never obtained her recipe. Thanks again!❤️
Thank you so much for showing us how to make this increadible Mole Sauce! I will certainly give it a try. Also wondering how long this sauce will last in the fridge?

Okay okay I’m totally making this. Yum yum yum.
I've never had mole but I know I will love it!
New and different way of making mole. Look devine . I would of been a devil's advocate and put it in the sauce let it simmer. I love the rice.
Yum going to try. Does this freeze good
