Lorde said in an interview that she found the episode funny and even did the I am “Lorde ya ya ya” impression lmao
Watching people play video games is boring unless you just don't know what you're doing play you want to get as many tips tricks and pointers as possible
@@troymatthews9541 Ok
Not actually true. She was talking about the previous episode where they praised her up.
wrong episode, ur talking about "The Cissy"
@@troymatthews9541Cool story bro
“Watching someone play video games 🙄” while watching someone watch South Park 🤔
🥴🥴🥴🤡
I watch these two because it's unique, since Devan has seen them. Him constantly setting Hobbs up is funny af. Like when he just casually leads Hobbs in to saying he would "get the dildo bike, but only for pleasure" or whatever it was 😂.
But yeah, most streaming or reacting is pretty much the exact same.
Except the joke is on you because YOU'RE the one watching someone else watch it. They make the content; you just buy into it.
I came into comments for this comment. Lol. But getting the episodes I have already seen from someone elses eyes is pretty fun. I am not sure about something I haven't played or seen yet tho.
Rehashing shit lol
The first time I heard “Cartmanbrah” I was annoying my girlfriend for a week
CUZ SUBSCRIBING MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD!
The whole “Randy being Lorde” thing was due to an online reviewer misunderstanding the second episode of the season where Randy ended the episode frantically filling in for Lorde after pretending he knew her through a work friend. The reviewer thought South Park was saying Randy really was Lorde and Lorde’s music sucked.
Matt and Trey, who were beginning to experiment with serialization around this time, quickly realized that that would be *even funnier* ,and made it the season-long joke, while stipulating that the actual music that we get in real life from Lorde is “actually good” as Stan says in the Cissy episode.
Thank you Hobbs…

6:07 This episode is literally about you guys 😂😂. A guy in a little window in the corner of the screen giving commentary. Hmmm 🤔 sounds familiar 😆.
Cartmaaaaaan bruh!!! 😂
6:18 Watching people commenting on Kyle saying nowadays people comment on everything is so weird bro 💀
Well thank God we got you huh grandpa? Go ahead be the hero grandpa
A Cartman commentary channel would be the greatest thing on RUclips. But he would get banned so quickly.

I miss Let's Plays actually. One of the greatest times of RUclips.
They are still around
You don't miss them. You miss that time of your life.
The integrity and showmanship that people like PewDiePie had compared to streamers now is insane. On the other hand... the videos were about seven minutes long.
@areyouokayanniebecauseIam I don't know about that one. Most of the RUclipsrs I watched, just quit making it.
@@KrillixKai Fair enough lol
We're literally here watching someone else watch South Park and commenting on it. And now I'm commenting on that.
Haven't gotten through the vid yet. But love the discussion on the topic of doing it yourself/watching someone. As we all watch this together. I think the sentiment is the same. Not so much "watching others have fun" as it feels like youtubers are friends you're watching/playing with. (Especially when the youtubers call you bro lol)
ME PERSONALLY... yes I prefer watching. I suck at video games and don't wanna get stuck and never progress through the story. But I've ALWAYS been that way: watched my mom when I was a kid, watched my cousins, and watched my bf I lived with.... however, I know I'm not the majority, too. Lol.

Hobbes' commentary -marriage counseling- is wise and to-the-point.
5:20 his reaction on him not playing trough GTA V story line himself was like he just learned he has a cancer lmao
I like to watch people play games I've already played, seeing them react to plot twists, seeing the strategies/builds they use, etc. It's like playing the game all over again, like watching movie/tv reactions.
It's funny because this is a channel where we watch people who watch South Park instead of just watching South Park 🤣 Strangely relevant to this episode
Devin just isn't a gamer, hes an observer, lol.
9:51 blew my frickin mind! My little sister (9 years younger than me) would ask me to play video games so she could watch me play...omg. crazy. I'd be so annoyed, too, because I was a teenager, and I wanted to be on AOL and chat with my friends on AIM, but I had to babysit so, I had to keep her entertained. 😂😂😂 I'm so old. 😅
Me and my 3 siblings would watch my dad play Sonic on the Master System in the 90s. He would play at night and record them on VHS and we would watch the next day. Basically the early version of Twitch Vods lol.
That’s such a sweet thing for your dad to do
I do enjoy watching people play games if I’m not sure if i will enjoy the game. But if it’s something I will enjoy. I will play it first and watch people play for their reactions.
Exactly. I have gotten into a few games because I saw people playing them. Also I enjoy watching people play games I have played myself. Like dragonage which I will watch after I am done playing through it. Picked it up again and everything feels fresh after all these years lol.
Missed opportunity for them to randomly spoof Short Circuit when they’re tracking the hologram. Should’ve had a big lit up table map with a green laser indicating Michael’s location. (But maybe they went for a different reference, didn’t notice.)
"YEAH" - Devan McNaire 2024
The issue I have with watching people on RUclips playing video games is that it triggers my childhood PTSD of going to that one kids house in the neighborhood that always had all the latest and cool games, but he made everyone watch unless he was in the mood (rather growing bored) to share 😂
Lol i just noticed that when cartman is mocking kyle in the classroom it really sound alot like kyle's cousin from out of town lol

It also sheds some light on how Butters interprets the people around him at school.
It also explores his social relationship with Kenny.

I like playing games more myself. But I like watching other play to get their perspective or be apart of a community. The playing GTA5 vs Watching Dune conversation you guys brought up really comes down to do you like to partake in active media or passive media. Your friend is right, it doesn't take any effort to watch a movie. And that is probably his favorite way to relax. Where I agree with you Hobbs I like being an active participant in my media consumption, even if it takes more energy and can sometimes even stress you out.
I personally love playing games I find interesting first, if Im sure Im not going to regret the purchase and its not too pricey. If I find a game interesting but am not sure if Id like to play it myself, I watch other people play it first to see if itd be something Id actually enjoy, or if itd be a waste of money for me. Like for example, as a kid, I watched Jacksepticeye play South Park's The Fractured But Whole, and I loved the look of the game so much that years later when I had the money I bought it, and Ive replayed it about 20 times now lol. Same with Stick of Truth.
They’re so right though that’s absolutely the draw of watching people play or react to stuff, it’s for all the youngest of the families who had older siblings and just kind of watched them play while listening to what they have to say.
IMO it's the same as watching y'all watch South Park - it's fun to watch someone checkout something I've already seen. If I hadn't already seen every episode multiple times, I wouldn't be here. I won't watch someone play a game I've never played, but it can be fun to watch them discover a game that I've experienced.
I think watching people play video games is a way to experience games in a more laid back way. You might not always want to concentrate on it but you still want to enjoy the game. Like right now I wouldn’t play a video game because I’m tired but watching someone play something might work out better right now for me since it takes less effort.
Another reason would be the entertainment value of someone playing video games. The commentaries, the reaction, the jokes, add to the experiences. You could technically share that experience with someone you know and play video games with them but this is complicated, takes time and availability and willingness from both people at the same time to find the time to play a game together. It’s just more simple to watch someone play a game and "share" the experience with them and at this point, with livestream, share this experience live with a lot of people who can all bring their funny parts to it by commenting in the chat.
To me, watching reaction videos such as this video is a way to experience it for the first time again through somebody’s else first time watching it. When I really like an episode, a movie, a video, seeing someone watching it for the first time reminds me of how I felt when I first watched it which I wouldn’t really get by rewatching it alone. That would work too by inviting someone over to watch something together, but for that you not only need to find the time for it, but that person would need to have enough interest in that thing you want to watch with them but not too much interest that she already would have watched it without you. Watching a reaction on youtube has less value than watching something with someone at your side, but watching a reaction is actually accessible which the other option is not or at least harder to have.
lmao he clip farming 🤣
Dead Celebrities is another episode of Michael Jackson
In Japan they got sold out concerts using holograms. Look up Hatsune Miku. She's a celebrity with games and albums and she's been 16 for like 20+ years. It's perfect from an agency pov. Your client will never get canceled for being offensive, or get addicted to drugs and OD, and you don't have to negotiate contracts lol.
As someone who became a screenwriter. I think gaming experiences really helped me with differentiating character. GTA5 was one of them. Story is worth the ride.
I grew up watching my brother play games. I'm remember watching him play final fantasy vii and zelda Ocarina of time. They're now some of my favorite games because I watched him Play them. I like to play games with multiple endings, and then sometimes watch other people play those same games to see what ending they get. It's now fun for me.
6:05 when i'm into a game I'll sit down and play for 4-6 hours, then i get hungry, so i close the game and watch someone else have their first experience with the game while i eat.
I don't have friends anymore so watching youtube people play is the closest thing i get.
Watching people react to this episode is meta as hell.
This episode was my introduction to PewDiePie. I've never seen his videos before or since. I have watched people play video games for years, though. It's usually story driven games, especially ones that are sequels to games I used to play. I used to watch a channel that only played roughly an hour of a game just to see if it was something I would buy. I don't have a modern console anymore.
Hes definitely tweakin not playing gta 5 story himself. crazy bruh
Well good thing we got you for that right grandpa? How else would we know about the most boring generic game ever 🥱🥱 yawnnn you're a hero grandpa thanks captain douchebag now if you'll excuse us were gonna go back to not playing it

This episode and it's sequel are something special.

"I would leave you my number, but im just a hologram n shit." so good
Whoa I am shocked that Devon prefers watching to playing. Not that the entire concept shocks me, it's just that Devon seems really engaged with the media he watches. I just figure he'd prefer to engage with the game over watching it
For the question at the beginning, It depends on the game. if it’s a cool story but has gameplay i otherwise wouldn’t care much for, i’ll watch it. If it looks super fun to play, i’ll play it. But i still like commentary videos cause i’ve discovered some of my favorite games through them, and then i can go back and see what other people thought/how they played.
I'm glad the irony wasn't lost on you guys.
Can we get this guy to watch the episode where he learns about Tolkien's name?!? Let's go chat! Hobbs NEEDS that one!
Kyle’s reaction to Ike hogging on the computer every time gets me 🤣
The “Super Fun Time” episode is 10/10. Toss it on the next poll 🙏
In the mornings I watch these two guys on RUclips watch South Park while I get ready to go stare at excel spreadsheets all day.
I agree with the iggy take. You are not alone Hobbs😂
This is the first time I heard someone say he'd rather watch someone play a game than figure it out for himself. I'm out.
I'd rather play it myself, but with a few asterisks next to that:
1) If it's a "choose your own path" type of game with differing dialogue options, differing quests, differing gameplay, differing endings, etc., AFTER I'VE COMPLETED THE GAME MYSELF, I will definitely watch others play to see how different choices impact the game.
2) If it's a REALLY scary or REALLY long/grindy game that I will never play myself, I will watch others play in order to experience something that I otherwise never would. And I love scary/grindy games. I would play Bioshock 1&2, Until Dawn, Dead by Daylight, the Resident Evil series, etc., all damn day long, but things like Dead Space, Amnesia: Dark Descent, Outlast, etc., are hard nos for me. I love being scared and love a bit of anxiety, but I hate being both scared and constantly super anxious/paranoid. But I love watching others be both scared and constantly super anxious/paranoid haha
3) If it's a game with a competitive scene, like Smash, Mortal Kombat, CoD, Pokemon, Dota2, LoL, etc., I like to watch pros and see how skilled the elite players of the game are, and also use it to learn new skills, tactics, and strategies. Like, I had never even considered the "Perish Trap" strategy in Pokemon until I saw a video Wolfey did on it, and now it's my go-to strategy.
So basically, I only watch others play games if I can use it as a learning experience to enhance or supplement my experience playing the game or use it to experience something I normally wouldn't be able to (or willing to). It's not entirely about entertainment the way many kids mindlessly watch Pewdiepie, who is far from a pro at anything.
EDIT: Side note, just in case you guys were offended by this episode, just remember that reacts to tv shows/movies are VERY different from reacts to video games. Most of the fun of video games is actually playing. All of the fun of tv shows (besides the tv show itself) is watching it/experiencing it with others, and reacts to your favorite shows are a fine stand-in for watching them with other people.
okay as someone who both enjoys and recently started making their own "reaction content" i feel like I am in a very unique position here. I am also in the camp of streaming games but not being a big fan of watching others play games very often but I will make exceptions from time to time
So with reaction content: I am obsessed with the arrt of entertainment. As someone who is autistic it is my biggest special intrest and seing others interact and enjoy media I myself enjoy but have diffrent takes to it is something I never tire of- hence why I love reaction channels so much! I myself recently started to dabble into making reaction/commentary content and I honestly can't believe I waited so long because it feels like the natural thing for me to be doing given my creative passions. Most of my stuff is on Patreon and I still need to make the edited compilations for youtube but recording the content itself is the most fun I've had wtiht the actual recording process in my 16+ years of content creation!
In terms of streaming games and Lets plays- not everyone wants to play a game and not everyone has the skill or wants to sink in the hours to get the skill needed to beat a game. Let's Plays and watching people stream games are a way for the non-gamers to experiance these games without the need to ever play games themselves. They make gaming acessable for non-gamers and people who never want to be gamers because being a gamer is a massive undertaking. I'd say I'm above-average and I've been a gamer for 30 years (I'm 35 and I first played Game Gear Lion King and Sonic at age 5- beating Game Gear sonic at age 5) so imagine how intimidating the gaming landscape is nowadays with Dark Souls and Eldin Rings being shown off as "the game of true gamers" for people who are intrested but are instead being intimidated and then scared off. People sh*t on Nintendo for being "family friendly" but they are also the company that provides the best gateway to gamers as their games are always beginer friendly while completionist nightmares- the best of both worlds. Again being a gamer isn't for everyone and streamers and Let's Players provide non-gamers a way to enjoy this medium of entertainment without the hours of grinding for skill that gamers have to. In that way while it is seen as lazy we do provide a service of making somethign we are passionate about acessable to others
This whole generational divide and fight is really never gonna go away, huh? This episode is like 10 years old and this shits still going on everywhere lmao
Hobbs look like "My brother here is in a bad way man... didn't play the GTA V storyline yet... damn!..."
Devan your sidekick Hobbs is holding you back you should start your own channel
6:18 It depends on the game and how they're playing; mad people would look up videos on how to do zombie Easter Egg steps for example and in those cases watching someone play can be helpful
That’s called a tutorial lmao it’s completely different to a Let’s Play… tutorials are literally designed for people who ARE going to play the game.
Keep up the amazing work, guys.
6:45, I'm watching a screen within a screen within a screen on my computer screen.
I feel like reactioins are different from watching people play games. I've done that too, but it can be hard to watch if they are bad or really slow. Like you see things they should pick up but they don't and just end up yelling at the screen. I prefer to play games. I rarely watch playthroughs now unless it's something I know I'll never play myself. But I do like seeing how people might react to something the first time after I've already played/seen it myself. It's like showing a friend something new just to see them get hype on it or whatever.
I used to watch Pewdiepie when I was in middle school. But I grew out of it quickly.
Simply because games are a whole different experience when YOU’RE the one making the decisions. Never watched a gaming RUclipsr after realizing that.
watching RUclipsrs play games is the new "watching your big brother play games".
Before RUclips that's all we could do when we were too young to own or play games.
I feel like playing a game yourself and watching someone play both have benefits over eachother
Watching someone play you don't have to buy the game, you get your favorite creators opinions, and some games are just made to be watched like Bendy 1 or something
Playing a game yourself you relate to the game itself a lot more, hell even dying in the game feels more personal than watching someone play it
That's how I see it at least. You aren't really there for the game when you're watching someone play it. But both are good ways of experiencing a game
I remember going to a Britney Spears concert in the late 90s/early 2000s and she sang to a track the whole concert. I was like wtaf?!? Lol

asking why people watch someone play video games is just like asking why people watch nba if they can play basketball themselves
Lol what? That's a terrible analogy unless you're specifically referring to watching the best video game players in the world where people would watch them for their skill. The overwhelming majority of Let's Plays are people just playing through a game without worrying about 'how good' they are at it. People don't usually watch Let's Plays to see how good the player is at the game.
@@xonaclan7317 Actually a lot of people are interested in that. They just don't care about them being good or not. You just want to see how they do. As for sports there are plenty of sport watchers who don't care about the players being high level or whatever. The ones who watch it the most have always seemed to be OK with whatever.
I don't think most sport watchers care that much about being the best. Otherwise everyone would just follow the best teams, not the random ones.
