“No one who hurts children should be allowed to walk the streets.” Sam for President ❤. I’m now caught up in this series having watched this episode yesterday. The Kingston group really is like a mafia organization. It’s wild. Matt from this show was also the security for Escaping Polygamy I’m pretty sure. I follow Jessica on social media and she posted about Hope After Polygamy at some point. I wish the baby story told in this episode shocked me but given all the stories of ex members I have no trouble believing that could happen.
I have watched Amandas videos. Her mom and siblings lived in poverty. Seriously sicking. I am so happy Amanda is speaking out. Glad you guys are showing light on this topic!
A number of years ago, the ABC tv show “What Would You Do?” did a segment to see what patrons would do if they overheard a conversation in a restaurant where a man and his three wives tried to force a young girl into a polygamous marriage. The actors were dressed as FLDS members. Would be interesting to hear your reaction to the setup provided, as well as your thoughts on the reactions of unsuspecting patrons. The segment is online. Jessica, from the Kingston group, who you recently mentioned, would be a great guest. As would Val, as mentioned in another post here, as he can give insight into what it is like being gay in one of these high demand religions. Would be great if more AUB members were interviewed. Rulon Allred’s granddaughter has been speaking out lately about her grandfather’s death by the LeBaron group. She’d give great insight on that whole episode.
The physical abuse thing is scary and can be hard to identify or take seriously. My mom was violent with us the whole time we were growing up, but she called it spanking. She was red in the face, screaming at the top of her lungs and could not stop "spanking" us until she gave herself a headache and hurt her hand. We did not realize until we were up in our 30's and 40's that she had been abusive with us.
What a great review! All of your content is amazing and viewed through such a compassionate lens. I will say that I spent the entire time trying to read the sign in the back lol. Your usual backdrop isn't distracting for us ADHDers lol. 😂
The first time I heard the term “Bleed the Beast” was in Carolyn Jessop’s book “Escape.” I remember that she mentioned it and explained it. She was married to Merril Jessop who was basically Warren’s right hand man. (I’m sure Sam knows who he was!) Perhaps it was a term used by people like him, who really knew the ins and outs of the FLDS “organization?” Also, I recall that one of the main reasons for the Kingston’s arranged marriages was the massive birth defects they encountered. They had a genealogist in their group, as I recall, that helped track lines to try to avoid marriages that would lead to deformed children.😢
"The Law of One Above Another" reminds me of my Evangelical upbringing. It was important in my religion to always be under the authority of someone (male obviously!) for your "spiritual protection". Leaving it risks taking the path to Hell! Thank you for your channel ❤
24:36 I am a never Momon but was raised in the United Methodist church from birth and was very active in mainstream Christianity until my early 30s. I’ve literally never heard the phrase “bleed the beast” until right now. 👀
I watch a lot of Amanda's videos, so this is what I've heard her say. Their consecration is basically signing a form where they list what they own every year and say it all belongs to the church. They have their own bank, which is sneaky about stealing their money. It just disappears into their "back account," going to their dad or maybe the church. They barely have access to any of the money they earn, and even then, they have to get permission to take any of it out of the bank. I'm pretty sure most of them have no idea this isn't how other banks work, it's just normal to them.
Have you ever watched the tv show that was on several years ago called “Escaping polygamy?” They were from the Kingston Clan 2 were sisters & a 3rd friend. They ran away from horrible situations!!!
The Kingston clan is awful! I'm a huge supporter of amanda, I found you through her😊. Just curious, have either of you heard of the Canadian group, in Bountiful? I live near them, and we never hear about the group except in local media when arrests occur.
I would be interested in hearing more about LDS....I know multiple younger people who left the church for various reasons....they don't speak of the details much...
Amandas dad told her that he would rather her be dead than to leave also. Her mom to me is the saddest part. I see so much sad and bitter but I know there are also happy people in these groups. I’m so glad that Sam got to grow up in a happy home. No it’s not right what many many do but I also feel like there are just as many super good people
@@GrowingUpinPolygamy please do! And will you be covering books on the topics? I would love to hear both yours and Sam’s takes on the various books out there and your views and commentary
@@autumn5852 She typically does, she just didn't want to spend hours editing a video about such a traumatic event, but no one else wanted to edit it, either.
This is kind of revolting but, my Granddad once told me that his Granddad on his mother's side told him " Old enough to bleed, Old enough to Breed" but we're talking about a time in the mid 1800's.
What I don’t understand about that group is how the fathers don’t seem to financially Support the wife or kids. The wives are worked to death and don’t even get to be with the children. They barely make enough to survive. Children are watching children for moms to be able to work. Not only do the wives not have a loving supportive husband they are truly like single mothers with a gazillion kids.
If all the marriages are arranged there is not as tight a bond between the married couple and if one thinks of leaving the other one is not likely to go with them and they are more likely to narc on each other. If the couple were in love they would be more of a unit.
I can't be a member, too much. Did I tell you; my sister is pregnant with her 3rd? No, they are not LDS, but actually Methodist. My mom said my brother-in-law wants 5 kids. I'm worried because my sister already had 2 C-section. I'm hoping for a girl. But I had a dream last night that they had a boy, is that a premonistion?
why do i have the suspicion that the "secret informant" is Jessica the heavy set sister from the other show on A&E that got canceled for being proven to be false and BS...ROFL the body shape and even the hair color that peeks out of the hood is the same color and style of Jessica's
No no Amanda's dad is obviously kyle Grant 👀 has anyone seen him 😅 much love sam and Melissa Amanda's family is so confusing i thins Amanda even gets confused explaining it lol
About the Law of One Above Another: Islam places husband over wife in family decisions, but as people and Believers they are equal. Can't take the ideas to the extreme in Islam or it doesn't work. Unfortunately, tribal societies tend to do exactly that. Afghanistan, Yemen, Saudi, East Africa...
What's FLDS again? might be good to say the whole name first and then use the abbreviation after that in each video, newcomers know what polygamy is usually but probably not FLDS, i already forgot.
All mormon is based of an origin of "have as many children as you can" to build church population and more money would come in turn. Its just worded differently in different groups. It just depends on motivation.

Amanda's dad is not the prophet, but her grandfather was Orteil the previous prophet. Otherwise great video! 😊
Was just abt to say the same there !!
Yes, her father is a Kingston brother, but not the current prophet.
Culty crew here
Her half uncle is the current prophet :)
Thank you!
The podcast "what love is this" was started by a wonderful woman who ran for her life from the Kingston group. I have listened to her show for years.

It’s only in LDS feed off groups.

Wonder if 'Bleeding the Beast' came from a statement from Brigham Young. Id have to do a search in the Journal of Discourses on my laptop.😊

Sam's mic is lower in volume, not by much, but just thought to tell you because your videos are so good, it could be perfect 😅
50+ years in LDS Church -- never heard the term Bleed the Beast.
If you lived a sheltered life I guess it’s possible you never heard that term

Nope your right, Paul is her uncle and prophet
Is there a patreon for these guys that I am overlooking?
Mmh, good question. Patreon has been mentioned by Melissa&Sam but I am unaware if it is still going.. 😅
Hi! We do not currently have a patreon but have talked about starting one.

I have been in the LDS church for over 60 years and I have never heard the phrase Bleed the beast. I do not live in Utah so maybe that’s why.
Amanda Rae did a video about baby Rhoda, the 17 month old who was killed, and she couldnt get anyone to edit it because the subject matter was so sad.
Why doesn’t she edit her own videos?
@@autumn5852 She typically does, she just didn't want to spend hours editing a video about such a traumatic event, but no one else wanted to edit it, either.
@@jcg03002 👍🏽 I can understand that. It would be very hard emotionally and those emotions don’t just go away 😢

Yes. Here I am for first comment
Yay! 😊

That wasn’t normal then either. Average age of women getting married for the first time in the 19th century was early twenties

Amanda's mom was made to leave the home that her father (her mom's father) bought. I guess it was consecrated to The Order.

Paul is not Amanda's dad
serious question for sam, you seem to think fondly of your childhood; what made you want to leave?
Brigham Young, bleeding the beast

Are they going to talk abt baby rhoda ?
You guys should rank the Polygamous groups by abusiveness. So FLDS is probably #1 and maybe a top 10? And are any groups relatively mild?

Amanda's sperm donor is Paul's brother
So crazy that they think they are descendants of Jesus who was Jewish...🤔
Hey guys. I just sent you an email. Hope to hear back from you soon. -Hayden
Bleeding the Beast is true for the Kingstons anyway!
They have a billion dollars and their kids eat out of dumpsters.
Priscillas mom wenr down for that but shr would be able to tell you more about it. See if you can reach out to her and ask her to tell that story.
Something wrong with the video.

Melissa looks very yellow in this video.

Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints
Led by Warren Jeffs who married a huge amount of women/children, and is currently in jail because of the child brides.
