KEXP, I love you. You've introduced me to countless now beloved bands/artists, Maribou State now instantly joining those ranks. I'm a Toronto-based musician and hope to someday be featured on your station if I ever work up the courage to perform outside my own home. Fingers crossed.
Funny - I'm also a Toronto musician but I'm hating KEXP because not a week goes by that I don't find at least 6 or 7 more bands whose albums I 'need'. They are killing me financially.

@@holdenmcmurphy6141 Sometimes but I'm old and closed minded. Not really - but I just like having all of my stuff on multiple hard drives scattered in 3 different places. And honestly, I don't mind spending the money - I work in music, have zero kids and it's nice now to know I'm not wasting money on utter crap, like I did through the 80s... and 90s. KEXP and Daptone have been great for music. And whenever I hear someone say 'There's just no good music these days' - I want to smack them silly.

I remember first listening to MS on a rainy last day of my university experience studying at the library before the world shut down. I remember sitting there reflecting on how amazing it was to have been able to study the great minds of the world and how my college experience would end with no graduation ceremony. Every time I listen I remember what I felt at that particular moment in that library.

"Feel good" is a genius Track ❤ I can't get enough of it
This is so good. I've watched it so many times, especially at times when I've been overloaded with music and can't actually think of what to listen to, there is so much music out there. For some reason I always come back to this live preformance. Every sound..... when I say sound I mean, field recordings, I mean synths, I mean the marrying of world sounds with traditional methods of recording and current technology. This is top notch, Holly's vocals are so good, the whole amalgamation is exceptional and epitomises the visceral qualities of music. We listen to music because of the emotional aspect. Such a great band.
Agreed! Also, "Love is the Message" (the live version) by Yussef Dayes is one worth repeating IMO.
this is just phenomenal. they sound so much better live - must get to see them
This album has a real personal importance to me, it was on loop around the time my baby boy was born in October last year, and Glasshouses takes me back to driving to the hospital at dusk. Just incredible music - I am so glad Maribou State exist and they make sch incredible music

soooo great!!, been following these guys since 2013 and they have remained one of my favorite musicians for all this time evolving their music so beautifully and still remain to be the very top of my list with favorite complex producers/musicians along with bonobo and tame impala, cant wait to see them live in Melbourne in July!!!
Holly Walker's voice is so big and amazing! Ghaah! I'm mesmerized. And she strongly resembles my very best friend's first daughter who is as much my niece as either of my own brother's daughters. So cool.

I saw them live the other day in Sydney. It was easily the best show I've ever seen. Everybody on stage was clearly having an amazing time and it was contagious to the entire theater. Holly Walker was bloody amazing at getting everybody in high spirits.

I discovered these guys last month (Jan '21), just as optimism around this pandemic was beginning to gain traction. Providing we're back to normal by summer, this record will forever be associated with amazing memories for me :)

Olivia EP 2012 - Been listening to these guys for a long time now. early ep's are pure gold...some of the best produced and a decent "i feel good" vibe music I'd heard at the time. The music they make nowadays feels a little softer so not to my taste but nice to see they are still going strong and evolving too!!
