How does Universal have the budget to recreate an entire set and costumes down to the last detail... and this actress pulls out a ripped up notepad when she is supposed to be reading from a published book of puns?
That's not a budget decision but a creative and practical decision. Creative because it helps sell the aesthethic of a world destroyed. Practical because it prevents having to deal with laywers to settle a royalty agreement.
