Not a very truthful movie, too author's vision, some moments do not correspond to reality. For example, the KGB officer could not say words about letting the guys earn money. In terms of subordination, there are a lot of things invented by a civilian director who has not served and has no idea how and what is organized in the military.

You know you can have compelling stories from the villain's perspective, right? Take for example, Downfall, about the last days of WW2 from Hitler's bunker. It's a really good movie, and you can feel quite sad about what comes next for some of the people in that bunker. Hell, one of the generals goes back home to blow his family up before the Soviets get to them.
