Marilyn, thank you for sharing your thoughts! We actually love how the rich walnut and white oak flooring bring a sense of natural warmth and character to the space. It’s amazing how design can evoke different feelings for everyone-some see modern elegance, while others may crave a cozier aesthetic. That’s the beauty of homeownership-making a space truly your own!

Beautiful home. Love everything about it, $7.5mill seems way overpriced though.

      Yes, very over priced.

Yeah, $1154 per square foot in Kansas? Nope. Manhattan (NYC)? Yep. L.A.? Yep. Miami? Yep. No way a 6500 sq ft. home in Kansas is going to sell for $7.5mill. Maybe $5mill. If it were $10,000 sq ft it might sell for $7.5mill. Homes along Lake Michigan in Chicago and the Northshore burbs don't even sell for $1154/sq ft and they are done to the 9s just as much if not more than this. This remodel was definitely overly ambitious for that area.

Vastly. For that amount of square footage, maybe $2 mil.

I wish they could have gotten rid of the 1960-70 front face and the main level ceiling is much too low. The basement is a waste. 7.5 is way too much.

Cheryl, thank you for sharing your thoughts. This home at 5930 Oakwood is actually one of the first built in Mission Hills, dating back to the early 1920s. Due to its historical prominence, the City required the original structure to be preserved. The builder and architects worked with the existing 'shell' of the home and completely rebuilt the interior, floor by floor while adding modern luxuries throughout.
The addition at the back is brand new, creating a beautiful blend of the historic and the modern. The space at garage level, with its mudroom, storage, and dumbwaiter, adds practicality, and the open staircase that goes up to the third floor is truly a sight to behold.
With the recent price improvement to $6,800,000, this home stands out as a truly unique offering in the Kansas City market. We appreciate different perspectives and are always here to answer any questions!
