Metal dice have one big problem: D4s. I still have a scar in my foot from those crisp metal dice that made a nightly trip to the toilet into a bloodbath. Also damage to tables and for no real upside. As an aside, d4's should just be replaced withtriplefours on d12's (which is objectively the prettiest die shape). D4s cause aforementioned bodily harm, but worse still, they just flop on the table.
The best dice is that one single d20 that you know is infused with pure luck, that you know must be brought out only during the most pivotal moments. Or at least carry around in your pocket as a lucky charm.
I still enjoy plastic click clacks, they don't have the same threatening aura as metal dice - plus can have super varied designs which you can theme around your characters
No STONE dice? But my real concern is that I was expecting a hierarchy showing your opinion of which was the more worthy dice. Is a d6 more loving than the d12? Is the d8 scarier than the d4? And can anything approach the majesty of the d20? But really, no STONE dice?
Once i gave my dm a rigged dice for his birthday, it had a fishing weight that made it land on 20' 9/10 times you rolled with it. The funny thing is, that dice was my undoing. He used the dice when in a combat encounter agaisnt a fire giant and my ass got slashed in half.
I'd like a rigged dice as a DM, but only for fails. Like, I need my players to NOT die, but I also need to roll for attack to make it seems legit (we play with attack and damage dice always revealed, even as the DM, some skill dice are hidden depending on the situation though), so a dice I throw only when I wanna have them survive, either by minimising damage or making the attack miss altogether. I don't play against them, I play with them to have fun together. Some die by bad luck, and that's the game, but if an encounter was going too badly and risking a TPK (either by terrible rolls or if I didn't balance it enough), or a dude gets three crit attacks in a row to the face, I wanna balance the odds in favour of the players.
I funded these cool LED dice on kickstarter called pixel dice. They have bluetooth and you can customize the colors and code it to flash different patterns based on what you role. Pretty cool
The last one reminded me of my friends d100. That thing is the size of a golf ball and weighs like 2 pounds. Needless to say, it’s nicknamed “the murder weapon”
Stone Dice - For when you want to go for that "Primitive and poor" vibe. Gives +5 strength to cavemen characters! Glass Dice - For when you are confused about what you roll, so you get these crystalline dice to clearly see the outcome. Gives +5 charisma when trying to spot a lie, as you are able to "See right through" the lie.
I actually like the idea blank dice being used for a game, where each time you roll you can pick what number is on the side you roll. The catch is that once you pick a number that number gets written down on that side, so you could use a 20 for a crit success or save it for later.
I personally like bone dice, not because I'm edgy but because I like the history of them, their weight, and the texture. My first knife was also a bone handled bowie as a little kid for tool use, I really like the material as a grip and in general for reasons beyond edge.
The custom dice reminds me of the weird shaped ones from dexter's laboratory A D&D themed episode, titled "D&DD"(yes its called that and yes im old) In that episode dexter was being the perfect example of a scrub who also btw resorts to cheating his rolls to spite his own players cuz DM privilages
Your rudimentary math rocks: Stinky, owned by you, put in jail. My ascended probability blocks: Not stinky, owned my me, put in a nice bag after rolling well.
What about Giant uniquely shaped metal die with fluffy candy coating that glows in the dark and uses bones as rigging? Please tell me if any of you figure out how to include the dice goblin or the online roller into this.
The dice Goblin will want it, and the online roller can always ask the dice goblin to roll on a video call because said dice goblin had the time to order it since the begining of the sentence
Broke: Using bone dice because you're an edgy loser Woke: Using bone dice because you're the DM and you need to signal to your players it's bossfight time
You missed gem, stone, glass dice. You won't want to roll them because they can chip, and you paid a hundred bucks for them, but obviously they are the best.
I have a few sets of metal dice, I honestly prefer my plastic ones. Even the most pretty of metal dice looks bland compared to what you can get with resin and acrylic.
The real level 1 is actually *tiny* metal dice. All of the benefits of normal metal dice with a drop in price and a bit more tantalizing based on how you have no idea how they put 20 sides on something no larger than a marble
my dice feel rigged by always rolling nat 20's when I control monsters as the dm ( I once got 3 nat 20s in a row) but when I play as a player or just roll dice for fun I get nat 1's (once got 4 nat 1's in a row)
metal dice can also be used as a self defense weapon, both throwing them really hard at someone or spreading d4 as caltrops
and then have the d4s do xd4 damage
Put them in a Sock and go apeshit against the poor soul.
I agree on this. You can actually buy extra heavy dice.
I have a set of metal dice and if I ever lose the d4 I'm moving.
@@grantbaugh2773 yeap, burn the house and tear it down, only solution possible
I personally love the Odd-Number Dice.
They always make everyone uncomfortable
a D3, a D5 and a D7 should really exist as there's so much possibilities to do with it.
But let's just forget that the D1 ever existed.
@@Sir-Pleiades I love my d3 and that's the reason I love that wild magic barbarian from Tashas.

Metal dice are also useful as reminders to your players to stop taking idiotic decisions.
If your players make a dumb move, just hold the D20 and wind up your arm!

Metal dice, when the D4 is actually just a caltrop

I bought 400 ex-casino dice for 3.99 - every time I get a 1, that dice goes in the bin. I have no luck, so I've only got 30 or so left.
