The Revival: When Bayern Helped Dortmund Avoid Bankruptcy, And BOTH Teams Won Because of It
Der Klassiker is easily the biggest matchup in the Bundesliga at this moment (Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund), but when Borussia Dortmund almost went bankrupt in 2003 and again in 2005, Bayern Munich loaned them €2 million to pay their wages, the rivalry was forgotten a bit. But, in a roundabout way, Borussia Dortmund paid Bayern Munich back even more so by becoming the German footballing power that they are today, thanks to the work of Jurgen Klopp and his Gegenpressing, trust in young players and their youth academy, and more. After Borussia Dortmund Embarrassed Bayern Munich in the 2011-2012 season, Bayern came back with a vengeance.

Schalke and Dortmund are soooo inconsistent! Dortmund reached a UCL final! Schalke was close to taking out real Madrid in UCL some years ago. The potential is there but poor management. Schalke has produced some great players but they can never keep them

That's basically Dortmund's only problem. They got a great staff, wo work well and love the club. But imagine a XI with Lewandowski, Aubameyang, Gündogan, Götze (when he would'nt have left), Dembélé and so many more. Not even putting in those who stayed, like Reus and co.

If you name Jürgen Klopp you have to mention Hans Joachim Watzke and Michael Zorc too. They came 2005 to the club, Watzke as managing director and Zorc as part of the management and they turned the finances around. They signed Klopp, they signed the players. Debt free in 9 years is not that easy :)
Good coverage of the situation and thank you for mentioning, that the loan wasn't that big. Every time Dortmund wins against Bayern there are Bayern Fans calling themselves the saviors of Dortmund because of the 2 million. It was a nice gesture that helped, not gonna lie, but if the creditors haven't had faith it wouldn't have mattered at all.

Bayern Munich had a golden era in the late 90´s/ early 2000´s (With players like Kahn Elber Matthäus Scholl Effenberg and many more)
Bayern Munich had an average team with some exceptions from 2003 to 2007 (Lahm, Schweinsteiger establishing themselves, some great strikers like Makaay or Luca Toni)
Bayern Munich was revamping the team from 2007 to 2010 (Robbery incoming Klopp doing Klopp things with Dortmund, Bayern got "angry")
Bayern Munich adding a few key players to their Team from 2013 to 2017 (lewandowski, Thiago, Hummels, Alonso, Vidal, Kimmich, Coman)
Bayern Munich at the end of an era from 2017 to 2018 (Robbery way past their 30´s/ Lahm, Alonso, Schweinsteiger gone or retired)
Bayern Munich in transition from 2018 to 2019 (Robberys last seasons/ Hummels Vidal leaving the club)
Bayern Munich is the best team in the world from 2020 to XXXX (Davies, Gnabry, Sane, Süle, Pavard, Goretzka established in the team)
    Championsleague History:
late 90´s/early 2000´s: Two finals, one Trophy
Mid/late 2000´s: Arsenal Level ("I want that French guy on the left and that Dutch guy on the right and we call it "Robbery" ... perfect")
2010 to 2013: Three finals, one Trophy
    2014-2019: Four Semi-Finals, one 1/8, one 1/16
    2020: XXXXX
More or less accurate history of the club from the late 90´s, u´re welcome! A Special thanks goes to Jürgen Klopp, he more or less single handedly pushed the Bayern board to build up a monster of a team.

My opinion as a BVB-Fan from Germany since my childhood: The only mentionable rivalry which contains Borussia Dortmund is the rivalry with the once befriended FC Schalke 04 which turned into pure hatred. Schalke is called for example FC Meineid (in english: FC perjury) for a reason. Calling Schalke as Schalke is a "Lord Voldemort"-thing, because most BVB-Fans don't call Schalke Schalke and in most cases you will be seen as an honourless BVB-Fan. Even the 04 is avoided with 03+1. "Der Klassiker" is just a pure marketing-attempt to copy "El Clasico" (the name got popular in 2013, because of the CL-Final) and in some way a made up thing besides FC Bayern-Fans because there is no real "by-heart-rival" in Bundesliga since 1860 Munich got relegated in 2004.

Just a minor heads up - the "c" in Rosicky's name is pronounced like "ts" (in general that's how they pronounce this letter in Slavic languages unless there's a symbol above it or in case of Polish when it's together with "z", "cz", then it's "ch"). Either way it's definitely not "k", pretty much ever. Not gonna lie though, your pronunciation of player & club names is excellent in most cases. Must be that multi-lingual background!

Exciting topic and a good way to show the new upcoming (approx. last 10-12 years) rivalry between these two clubs in Germany.
The big emotions developed during the period of Jürgen Klopp, before teams like Gladbach, Kaiserslautern or Werder Bremen had at least the same reivalry level to Bayern as well. There was no extra special relationship between Dortmund and Bayern Munich. The special emotions developed the last 10 years because Media also tried to hype that game. The german media also became proud to have one very special game like other countries. So they started to call it "German Classico" related to the spanish/argentinian Classico.
97's Champions League team was already very expensive and Borussia Dortmund spent already too much money to get some players like Reuter, Riedle, Sammer, Möller, Kohler back to Germany. They all played abroad (most of them in Italy) the years before. During that time the italian league was like the Premier League today. That cost a lot of money already and Ottmar Hitzfeld explained in a video once: "In the final 97 i felt already that the club spent more than they really had. There was so much internal pressure to win that game". At least they did :D
So financial challenges started already during that time and in 2004 (after they spent again a lot of money for the league title in 2002, [Rosicky, Amoroso, Evanilson, Ewerthon, Koller etc.) german public recognized that the club has a dept of approx. 125 Mio. Euros. During that time, that was a crazy amount of money.
Uli Hoeness nowadays talks about that loan of 2Mio. Euros and Watzke agreed that there were money transactions between Bayern and Dortmund within 2-3 months during that time. If it's 2 Mio. or less he never confirmed. During that time Dortmund wasn't able to pay the players salaries, so the teams also organized a friendly game between Bayern and Dortmund to create some extra money for the club. All the earnings they made during that game, Bayern Munich left for Borussia Dortmund.
Directly after a big Borussia Dortmund press-conference in german television in 2004, the club had huge challenges to survive in german professional football. But before Klopp started his dream period and reinvented the club, the dutch coach Bert van Marwijk helped Borussia Dortmund surviving in Bundesliga for 2-3 years by doing a great job with almost no good player :D Most of them were out of the youth academy but not because they liked to do it, there was no alternative. Afterwards Bernd Krauss and Thomas Doll had a very bad performance so that the club decided to start new with Jürgen Klopp in summer 2008.
Jürgen Klopp reinvented the whole attitutde and academy system of the club and together with new ambitious people and thoughts Borussia Dortmund went back to the top of the League. But the whole years between the bought and the believed success were very long.
Today there is a bigger rivalry but still Bayern Munich is much bigger than Borussia Dortmund. Bayern has twice the revenue of Borussia Dortmund and the city Munich offers much more financial support opportunities than the region of Northrhein-Westfalia and Dortmund. The only detail Bayern benefits from if Dortmund has a strong team, is that through the rivalry Bayern normally also gets a stronger team, is pushed by the enemy and in that way Bayern is also more successful in Europe. The next upcoming enemy for Bayern Munich in Germany will be RB Leipzig.
Nice video and the same style about the idealistic of Johann Cruyff, connected with his academy ideas of Ajax Amsterdam and La Masia in Barcelona would be amazing. How much Cruyff had an impact on these ideas. Or Alex Ferguson and his success in Aberdeen and Manchester :-) Go on and good luck :-)

As a Bayern Fan I agree Dortmund has done a lot for us and even if I find their suppporters rather annoying I always want them to get better (obviosuly not as good as Bayern) and toute for them in Europe. German Football needs them if BVB is weak than Bayern automatically becomes weaker and League Triumphs become even more meaningless

The reason bvb fans hate munich is because munich fans and management are extremely arrogant.
The reason munich fans hate bvb fans and management is because some (in the bvb case not all) are hypocrites who always have a big mouth and say they're better and will win the bundesliga title.
Either way. Munich is one of the most hated clubs in germany, while bvb is one of the most loved ones(together with mönchengladbach and freiburg). I never meet a single munich fan who wasn't bragging and arrogant about munich and general football.

Quality video! I thought I remembered Bayern’s loan being public at the time, but I was like 7, so could totally have misremembered! I also don’t think Merkel is a Bayern fan, I think she’s just a smart politician who understands that the southern Bavaria region is here political base and the people there are pretty much universally Bayern fans. I also remember her proclaiming she was a Bayern fan after they hired Jürgen Klinsmann bc of what he did during the 06 World Cup, but obviously that only lasted 8 months

Rabona TV Centre-right doesn't equate to conservative, the CDU is a liberal democratic party, much like the Democrats from the US, ie: Obama and Hillary, a good example of high profile conservative would be Donald Trump, someone Merkel didn't support both in beliefs and in political manners.

Hey kudos to Rabona for building a great channel but in this video you are completely not in your topic. There are so many things at the beginning where you explain the history of the rivalry that just weird. Why do you mention Evanilson instead of Amoruso who was by then by far the most expensive transfer in Bundesliga history. Dortmund is not really a social democratic club. Many of their Ultra fans are known to be flat out Neo Nazis and Dortmund can not be seen as the representative of the state NRW. There are simply too many Bundesliga clubs from that state that it doesn’t matter anymore that they are in that state. A Leverkusen Or Gladbach Fans doesn’t give a damn that they are in the same state. But anyway you are doing a great job
