  • This video touches on various aspects of suborbital rocket trajectories such as flight path angle, body elevation angle, launch angle, and more. Two simple demonstrations are provided to reinforce some of the concepts. This video is geared towards high school students with an interest in rocket flight and space. More information on this topic can be found at www.labratscientific.com.

I enjoyed your explanation. Your real life experiments complement the more theoretical parts nicely.

Now KSP makes even more sense. Thanks

I was hopping to learn how to calculate trajectories but it was still a good video. Good explanation

If you go to labratscientific.com you can find information on how to create spreadsheets that can be used to simulate free falling bodies and projectile motion. The projectile motion simulation can be found under the "Statics & Dynamics" page. There is a lesson that provides details on how to write the simulations. There are lessons provided on the "Rockets & Space" page where you can learn about thrust and drag, which can then be applied to the Projectile Motion simulation to create a rocket simulation. In a nut shell, you can convert the projectile motion simulation into a rocket simulation by expanding the "applied force" (i.e. Thrust and Drag) to calculate the acceleration of the rocket and then the velocity and then the vertical and horizontal displacement... Part of the fun of doing science is taking bits and pieces of information and putting them together to solve a problem...
