Shout-out to McDonalds for ruining a woman's reputation because she had the audacity to tell her story.
You mean the hot coffee one?
Im so frustrated for that lady that everyone thinks she was the problem
@@aqua-bery She initially just wanted McDonalds to pay for her medical bills since their coffee spilling on her lap left her with horrific genital burns but when they refused and the jury found out that the franchise had been repeatedly warned to reduce the temperature due to previous serious injuries that resulted from how hot their coffee was, they added a few zeroes to the compensation awarded just to stick it to McDonalds.
Fr
@@korayven9255Not even that. She wanted McDonald to stop making coffee unreasonably hot. She wanted to protect others.
Before her a young women splited her coffee from McDonald's and got 3rd degree burns.
That lady was actually really horribly burned by the coffee, like the doctor said it was the worst burns he’d ever seen. Not every “frivolous” lawsuit is actually frivolous
That poor woman was the butt of jokes for decades because of how successful the McDonald's smear campaign was against her. People fell for and are still falling for McDonald's propaganda about her.
Her name was Stella Liebeck, folks. Her injuries were so extensive, horrific is not a strong enough word to describe them. 3rd degree burns to her legs, groin and genitals. That damned coffee was so hot, it literally melted the skin and fat of her legs/groin together. She needed multiple skin grafts and wasn't able to walk properly for years.
I am just wondering how in the hells they even GOT the coffee that hot.
For those kinds of injuries, it should have flashed into a cloud of steam the second it hit the air.
I honestly think that they put lye, or something like it, in the coffee, thats the only way I can see her getting those injuries from it.
If she'd have drunk it when it cooled down, she'd have been dead.
@@mokko759 I have a dark joke for this and I am not going to say it out of respect for the woman. I also heard about her story and how McD's refuses to pay for her medical bills, yet gives housing to people that traveled across their state for their child to get treatment and still gets the charity tax write off tax.
The joke is groin-icide because I now your going to ask.
Yeah, Robin teetered right on the edge of promoting the myth about that story, and it honestly makes me so angry that it's _still, TO THIS DAY_ a commonly held belief that the woman was responsible for her own injuries out of sheer stupidity and McD is just the hewpwess wittle victim of some mega-Karen.
@@The_Keeper Basically to save money McDonald's stored(/stores?) coffee at a higher temperature than normal to preserve it.
The story is really bad though because they only wanted McDonald's to give them enough money for the treatment they didn't even want any compensation or anything
God that McDonalds case makes me so [insert swear word here]ing mad. A 79 year old woman gets 85 degree or more coffee (185 farenheit), spills it, gets third degree burns in her thighs and genitalia and spends eight days in a hospital to get her skin grafted, sues McDonald’s for gross negligence, wins (thankfully) and then gets branded an idiot and a karen for putting coffee between her legs (which is a fairly normal thing to do), and it will forever on be known as a frivolous lawsuit because a lady got mad that she got coffee on herself, without people ever actually knowing what the true story is.
The coffee was over boiling point, actually. At the time, the McDonalds was using a coffee system that kept the coffee at over boiling temperatures, and under enough pressure to prevent it from actually boiling. They did this as a way to get around health codes regarding how long they could keep the same batch of coffee.
They also deliberately kept using coffee cups that had been repeatedly reported for spontaneous collapses once liquid with added, with the collapses happening more quickly with hot liquids.
The franchise owner for the store forced employees to keep using them until all of then were gone and told them 'just' to double layer them. Even after they were told that didn't work.
No it is NOT normal to keep a cup of HOT liquid between your legs. If she was driving, that is what cup holders are for. If she was in the McDonald's, that is what the table is for. Normal people do NOT hold coffee with their knees, you simpleton! Coffee is supposed to be served hot. It is best served between 140 degrees and 160 degrees. So, while they served it a bit hotter than normal, no one would ever drink coffee at 85 degrees as that is considered cold. You think it's good that McDonald's lost the FRIVOLOUS lawsuit to a woman who was responsible for HER OWN BURNS? You are dumber than she was!
@@alchemysaga3745 Water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit. In other words, the coffee was nowhere near boiling. McDonald's was clearly NOT keeping the coffee over boiling point. Further coffee is ALWAYS made at over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, specifically 140-160 degrees. Also, pressure DECREASES the boiling point of a liquid. That's whole point of a pressure cooker, you simpleton. Another thing, the time a "batch" of coffee can be used is ONE DAY, not a period of hours, stupid. The reason coffee is replaced is because it tends to lose flavor after a couple of hours. BTW, coffee breaks down at boiling point.
No they didn't. No company would ever make a cup that can't have liquid in it as that is the entire point of a cup. It would rather stupid to make a product you can't actually use.
McDonald's has certain standards that must be followed by franchisees. That is why it is called a franchise, stupid.
It was even worse then that since she didn't spill it, it was hot enough the cup melted.
Luckily I’ve been seeing more people who know the truth about that story, it seems people are slowly learning what was actually going on.

Yeah, that McDonalds hot coffee lady...she literally had her LEGS MELTED TOGETHER FROM THE BURNS!!!!
And, to think, we all joked about it when it first happened, like it was some sort of silly prank gone wrong in an even sillier way.
People joked about it *because McDonald's LITERALLY RAN A PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN.*
They literally PAID lawyers and people to spread bullshit about that poor lady specifically to not just attempt to poison people against the ruling, but to try to invalidate her claims.
They literally invested so much time and effort into undermining her- *instead of on fixing the FUCKING PROBLEM-* that the first judge with the case actually tried to make them pay her exponentially more money than she asked for.
She just wanted her medical costs and emotional damage covered. The first judge told McDonald's to pay her *one day* of their coffee profits. Which was, iirc, *literally hundreds of millions of dollars.*
Of course, McDonald's appealed it and found a judge they could buy off, who dropped the mount to the original. 🙄

So, fun fact about the 'fasces' one. Whilst his etymology isn't completely wrong, fascism as a political term is named after bundles containing wooden rods and an axe, which where carried by the people who were meant to enforce order in the roman senate.
Fascism quite literally is named after a government tool used to enforce control over parlament.
So if you wanna give a purely etymological definition, fascism is a system in which the government executive branch can use violent means to restrain or control the legislative branch.
I will never get tired of Robin's Ben Sharpiro impressions, lmao
Owning a castle sounds good on paper, but once you look inside, they either have little to no insulation, so it's drafty as hell, echoy because the sound bounces off the stone walls, and you'd need a rumba or shark in every room just to keep the dust off the floors.

My boyfriend's dad used to be a truck driver. He hardly got to see his kids when they were growing up and his wife left him because she didn't like being left alone with the kids all alone and only seeing her husband once a month. Yes she's a piece of shit, but the dad continued to do his job until 2 years ago when the bar in his spine from an injury in the army started damaging the nerves in his neck and finding out he had a cancerous tumor on his liver. His doctors said it wasn't worth the risk removing it. He's such a hard worker that even after retirement he is still doing odd jobs to keep busy and not feel useless. My boyfriend is the one with a full time job and the time that he does get off he is spending making sure his dad doesn't work himself to death. We've been together for 13 years and still don't live together because he has to live with his dad and and drive him everywhere, do things his dad can't, and trying to keep his psychopathic leech of a brother from killing him because their dad refuses to put his foot down and kick him out. The piece of shit mom kicked 'her baby' out in 2015 because her new husband got sick of dealing with him abusing his mom and being a useless waste of space. At the exact time i was moving my belongings from my parent's house. I was given permission by the dad to live there as long as I took care of the house while he was away and my boyfriend was working. The mom just dropped her son off and said 'he's your problem now'. It's been 8 years and any money me and my boyfriend have saved to get a place to live nearby his dad has either gone to repairing what his brother destroyed in the house during one of his tantrums and his brother stealing it for drugs or whatever crap he wants. The dad and police dont do shit about him and ive basically given up on ever getting a place to live with my boyfriend or even getting married.
If hes over 18 you guys could file it as hes squatting, file for theft, destruction of property, maybe a restraining order with his dad could work. I’m not sure where you live. Hopefully you can get him out and you and your boyfriend can live happily

10:20 the response is already great, but I get so mad whenever people complain that the "current generation" can't fix their own cars anymore. Because it's the freaking cars that changed. I drive a 10 year old car and can exchange some easy parts like light bulbs, tires, windshield wipers no problem, despite having no training and not a particularly good understanding of mechanics. The new electric cars my workplace has don't let you refill the tires at a glass station. You have to go into settings on the computer and do some bs there first. And don't get me started on those LED lights. My car has two LEDs (the turn signals on the sides), one of them broke recently and my repair shop couldn't replace it in time. Also they warned me if they did, it would increase the total price by at least 150€. Modern cars have all LED lights. Everything is computer controlled.
It's not the generation, this shit just used to be easier

"driving a truck" means spending 4-5 days on the road, sleeping in said truck and if you mess up you lose millions of dollars worth of time and items... while also being told you have X among of time to deliver something while also regulate how "fast" you can go in any given road. Regarding Chik-fil-a, my ex-friends said the same thing constantly that they’d never go. Everyone I’ve met recently loves the place.
I finally looked up the history about 2 years ago out of shame for eating there (considering the lack of nearby choices) and the current case is that the chain has since fired/distanced themselves from the problematic leadership that was openly bigoted. As a gay man, I personally don’t have an issue eating from them knowing this and one other detail: the restaurant is still running and does in fact have good food. The service at the one I go to is very good and hopefully they are paying their employees well. They’ve made changes and are still getting scrutinized for a history that they have already stated they do not support. Boycott them all you want, but make the boycott make sense for the here and now, not for what has already been resolved.
The one thing I'd say about this is... lasting boycotts send a message.
"Don't try this, because it WILL ruin you."
Horrible business decisions and people with insane ideologies starting up companies to fund their insane desires happen because they think it'll work.
The more people openly say "no, it doesn't matter if you change away from that, you still did it once", the more that sort of sends a message that even trying something similar will likely lead to extremely long-lasting damage to your customer base.
From everything I've heard about them, if it hadn't been for their completely insane religious beliefs, they would've likely surpassed KFC entirely a LONG time ago.
But the simple fact that their business was just solidly connected to "extremist religious ideology" made a LOT of people (and not just the LGBTQ+ community) steer away from them.
And.. yeah. I can definitely say even if I was interested in the type of food they sell, I wouldn't see myself ever stepping foot inside one simply because of the fact they were that heavily connected to one of the biggest things I'm heavily against recently enough that it was after RUclips existed.
@@AtomicArtumas, that sounds well thought out, but it's also not as progressive a method as it seems. With that same vein of thought, while an extreme example, places like Germany should get no visitors because of Hitler and Nazi control from WW2; Amazon shouldn't still be getting so much business because of Bezos and his employee practices that are still ongoing. So many businesses have started under bad intentions, but with time, leadership and policy changes, and general efforts to improve, they have done better for the community and their customers as a whole, even forced to rebrand just to get away from their history that they don't want to be associated with.
Good businesses can screw up and bad businesses can improve, with the entire spectrum in between. When people say they want change, but then go back and say that change isn't possible, it ruins the point all together and actually has a more negative impact on the community as a whole. What business wants to run knowing that no matter what they accomplish will never be good enough?
How much time do you need before you're willing to let go of ultimately illogical, and possibly inconsistent, standards? Would you be satisfied if places like Chick-fil-A just went out of business instead, no matter how much they try to improve? It needs to make sense for the here and now. Don't forget or ignore the history, but take into account the current efforts along with it.

So, out of 30 days, we have 4 family members here 24/30 days and 5 family members 6/30 days, with 4 days being just the 2 of us. Before the 3rd and 4th were homeschooled, our grocery bill was approximately $800-ish a month. After the decision to homeschool was made, our grocery bill went up by $250-ish. That's over $1,000/month just in food. You can't make growing children stop eating. 2 are very hyperactive, so sugar is limited. No caffeinated sodas, and juice has to be free of Red 40 as it causes hyperactivity. (I've also done my own study on this by giving them juice w/ Red 40 in it and they were completely different children, so it DOES affect them. I did it to see how their bodies would react to it, to make sure there was some actual basis behind it, before I stopped purchasing juice with Red 40 in it, or high up in the ingredient list.) We're also on 1 income because I am disabled and currently in the process of getting my disability. My husband makes decent money, but it's a struggle a lot of times, and we have to prioritize where our money goes. I will not judge someone's situation or position in life because it is not my place to do so. However, people LOVE to try and tell me what we should be doing differently. Thing is, we are all just trying to survive the crazy chaos of every day life. People who like to post things on Twitter, or other social media sites, that bash those who work 50+ hours/week, and also those who genuinely struggle because of a health condition that they didn't ask for, have absolutely no concept of real life. They live in a fantasy world made up in the deep recesses of their minds to combat the loneliness that they feel from not having true and genuine connections with people. It's not hard to be kind, considerate, and have compassion and understanding for others. Even if you don't understand something, you should still have some compassion for them.

9:46 Ok, seriously though, I think raising minimum wages damages the economy, but can someone who does please explain the thought behind it? I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just trying to understand the other side here

Alright...to start with we have different classes for our driver licenses.
Class 1: Private motor vehicle
Class 2: Medium rigid vehicle licence (Bus, small trucks)
Class 3: Medium combination vehicle licence (truck and trailer, bendy bus)
Class 4: Heavy rigid vehicle licence (Double axle bus, double decker bus, coach, large non-trailer trucks)
Class 5: Heavy combination vehicle licence (truck and trailer)
I have classes 1, 2 and 4. I am nowhere near getting a class 3 let alone a class 5. I've seen what people have to go through to earn those classes and I have the utmost respect for the class 3 and 5 drivers. Not just anyone can become one.
Thank you to the worlds class 3s and 5s. Without you, we wouldn't have anything.
