Boy this episode was pure comedy, your way out of blighttown, falling out of the birds nest, the confusion after the easy golem kill, i laughed my ass off 😂
I cant believe u miss the short cut from Blighttown to Firelink, It was interesting that u climbed the way back to the depths.

As someone who always gets the key and takes the shortcut on the way there and back, it’s actually impressive and makes me want to try it myself in my current run
thats why darks souls is awesome lol. you can miss a bonefire or a turn and it becomes the longest runback, it rewards you for exploring more.
Having played the unpatched PS3 version, I "had to" run from Ash Lake up the Great Hollow and through the Blighttown and the Depths to get to the Undead Parish to remove the curse. (The unpatched curse stacked, so my max hp was 1:8th of the original.) I would have loved to know that shortcut back then.😅

Getting the boss stuck in a loop only for it to free itself when there’s one hit left to kill it… yup checks out on the Dark Souls Bingo card
Rusted iron ring is great in swamp or in any shallow water. If u wear it, u can run and walk normally. Otherwise, u move slow in those places as u seen in Blighttown. U can use it to explore more of Blighttown as there are a lot more there. Wearing it makes traversing very easy. U will also need it later in certain places with water to move freely.

Same! While it was something else that made me have to take a break for a few weeks, Sen's Fortress really annoyed me
NPC summon: the man, the myth, the legend, Iron Tarkus for the Iron Golem Fight. Absolute madlad, can straight up solo the boss
Walking a straight line however, could prove his undoing.
That moment, when you return to Firelink and the Keeper is missing... 😅
Does the game actually explain why the keeper is missing?
@7thsygn theres a black eye orb thats seeking revenge that u pick up. Once in the right area it quivers which lets u invade her killer
@@7thsygnYeah That guy in golden armor namely Lautrec kills here since he is a dissident. He kills her and takes her soul with him. He can be invaded in the room right before Orenstein and Smough boss fight.
Lautrec seemed fishy and I didn't like that he sat across from the Keeper. So I accidentaly tripped with my weapon and stumbled into him. Oops... 🙃
In case you didnt know:
1. Boss weapons from boss souls are kinda tricky here. You need a lvl +10 specific item and ascend it by using boss souls at blacksmith in Anor-Londo. For instance Quelaag soul is for katana and curved sword.
2. Weapons have a lot of types of attacks, try them all, may be some will be useful: attacks after rolling, after backstepping, strong attack often have fallow-up attack, while running, etc. Its different for 1-2-handling.
3. Inventory have a lot of useful items, also read description for unique items, cause some items have special effects, that not showed on usual stats.
4. Armor can be upgraded too.
5. You missed interesting npc at Asylum, its near crow nest.
Second try Capra Demon and yet that many attempts on Stray Demon. Is crazy how different peoples playthroughs of this game are.

Iron Tarkus is the one summon everyone would have been cool with.
Iron Golem is a joke and watching Tarkus get him is way cooler.
Exactly what I was thinking. Summoning him and for me personally Solaire for every boss fight whenever I am doing a playthrough. I can manage to do these bosses on my own now but summoning the help of NPC especially on your first playthrough resonates with the spirit of Dark Souls in a different way. On top of that the best enjoyment I had with Dark Souls after I learnt it somewhat was to help out people who need help with a boss.
Don't worry dude, Sen's Fortress is a nightmare for everybody lol! Excited to watch you fight the iconic duo, they were my first real roadblock in the game and they solidified my love for the series when I finally beat them.

I'm really liking this, probably my favorite first playthrough I've seen so far, because it's obvious you have played plenty of other soulsborne games and are not completely averse to getting a little help in terms of basic stuff like menu and controls, plus the videos are very well-edited, so what we get is exploration and learning the bosses (the best aspects of the game IMO) rather than struggling with the game's often confusing mechanics, haha.
I'll definitely be watching your Super Metroid playthrough at some point, because that is perhaps my favorite game full stop.

A rule of thumb I like for detecting mimics That I found on Reddit goes something like this:
"If the chain is curled to the back, it's ok to sack,
If the chain is curled to the front, the chest is a c_nt"
The fact that the only bonfire in the level is literally hidden from you is just unreasonably cruel

53:07 You would not believe how rarely that happens. I've been through this game almost twenty times, and I've never had a fight with the Iron Golem where he either jumps or falls off, because yes, he can jump off on his own accord.
Never happened to me once. I think he was about to fall once but I finished him off before he could fall.

The chaddest of all followers! He pretty much solos the boss if you let him.
You can get some really strong pyromancy spells from the chaos covenant you joined. Offer 30 humanity points for all rewards (rats sometimes drop em)

Folks wowwing over DB's good luck at the Iron Golem kill but I'm still wowwing over his finding of the great hollow and NOT going down it. Given that he won't be back until he has...a game-changing feature...that was probably the most whimsical luck of the whole run.

Great playthrough man! Dark Souls is such a classic...
Also, you can go back to Blighttown to farm the slimes for large titanite... Now that you have the rusted iron ring, you can walk around normally in water/sludge.
Dunno if anyone has said it yet but with many large size bosses it actually helps tremendously to not lock on, since it makes it more difficult to avoid certain attacks. Lock on is usually best for enemies around your size.

Man, that Iron Golem fall near the end kinda made up for the Stray Demon earlier in the video.

The contrast between this and SA2 is insane to me but I love it
On the topic of missing shortcuts you also seemingly missed one which goes between the start and the end of Sens. (not quite as important as the Blighttown one, but hey still kinda useful)
Watching Dee play made me want to replay DS. So i booted up my OG copy of DS for the Xbox360 in hopes that maybe just maybe i had a cloud save. Of course that wasn't a thing back then, so i started the new file for nostalgia's sake. Played for about 2h give or take, then stopped and bought DS Remaster. The graphical difference is pretty outstanding.

Someone probably already told you this but if you choose the ring as your gift at the beginning of the game you can speak to the spider lady in the wall.
Yeah the old witch ring. He can still technically do it if he can trade the sunlight maggot with Snuggly but it is absolutely must to do it after doing Tomb of the giants and Nito should be the first boss soul he needs to go for. After that Sunlight maggot is of little use. One can also use Skull Lantern but sunlight maggot let's you have both hands free to dual weild or sword or shield equipped.
Don't worry, Sen's Fortress actually did make me quit, for about 6 months actually

Dark Souls Remastered was the first RPG I ever played! Besides WoW but that can't count^^ First time I was touching a controller in 15 years I'd say, since Play Station 2 and I didnt play any RPGs on there.

If you want some more souls like you might want to try nioh 1 and 2 (medieval japan + Yokai), code vein (post apo with pseudo vampires named revenants) and lies of P (dark souled Pinocchio).
Other than that, and even if it's not a souls like, I definitely recommend scarlet Nexus. À nice discovery I tried last year

It’s interesting how you won’t upgrade the minute you get a bosses souls and find a bonfire. That was the first thing I always did.
Also, I noticed after going through Quelagg’s domain, you didn’t continue on to the demon ruins?
Btw the reason you had to kill Oscar there is because all the undead (you included) are cursed by the dark soul power in humanity. Humans turn into zombies after a while basically, it’s more repaint if you get to DS3 DLC
