You are right. But when resistors are also connected with inductor, the scenario changes. Look at the circuit at time 4:45, the source current will now flow through two paths. If the right hand resistor was not there, then the complete current would have flown through the right branch or inductor branch.
May I suggest that you watch my linear circuit videos of chapter 1,2,3 to build a stronger foundation. Good luck
