Huh. Learnt a new trick. I never thought of shooting in HDR. You think that rolling shutter effect on the engine instruments is due to the over sampling of the HDR mode? What frame rate did you shoot in for this project?

Shot at 60fps. I reached out to GoPro engineering to figure out why the rolling shutter happens. I believe it has to do with the HDR sampling different zones and raising the ISO automatically as the ND16 filter creates the need for it.

I did 60fps. The rolling shutter has something to do with the extreme differences in exposure due to the overhead wing. In something like a Cirrus or an RV, maybe and Extra 300, the exposure values would be much closer. I reached out to GoPro engineering to learn more about their HDR algorithm.
