For years i've been told to watch this anime and for some reason i didn't think i'd enjoy it. Now, finally i was convinced thanks to my friends and i got to say, BOY WAS I WRONG! I've decided to make it my first anime reaction series on this channel. This is the first time I am watching Naruto so please no huge spoilers, however some foreshadowing might be forgiven! Grab some popcorn and enjoy!

It's wild watching lucky get so hyped, you finally saw the how and when Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orchimaru was proclaimed the leaf legendary sanin. It was a title bestowed upon them for just surviving against a much more powerful ninja.. Hanzo of the Salamander..believe me, he was very very powerful in his time and it says allot that the 3 of them were still alive at the end of that fight.As far as your theories about the little girl...Oh Lucky my man, you are growing up right before our eyes.

I think it's implied that Tsunade always liked Jiraiya, but she never told him or accepted him because he needed to find his destiny and was constantly traveling across the world. That moment when Tsunade asks him "why don't you settle down in the village?" is probably her saying that if he were to stay in the village with her she probably would accept him as a lover. She never felt anything romantic for Orochimaru she just found him cooler than Jiraiya when they were kids.

i just spent all day binge watching your videos. i regret nothing. i love the way you analyze things. i grew up with naruto, watching everyday episodes as a 5 year old kid and weekly episodes later when shippuden episodes were coming out. this show literally shaped me as a person so it always makes me happy to see people truly appreciating it for the writing and the emotional side of it, not just cool fighting scenes (even tho those are cool af).

I grew up watching Dragon ball, and the feeling of nostalgia is so good when i watch this new show, cuz it has that similar vibe, but the story is even better, and it makes me think, it has such harizma, and knowledge and it's just a masterpiece so far! yes Hanzo gave them their titles :) they were also pretty young here :P ye this is Amegakure, The Hidden Rain village :) Orochimaru is just so casual about shit like this xD these kids seem nice though, they are determined to do something good which is cool :) Jiraiya was trying here to fulfill his destiny thats cool to see he finally made some breakthrough you could say :) so we got Sharingan - Mirror/Copy Wheel Eye, Byakugan - White Eye (All Seeing White Eye), and now Rinnegan :) THOSE EYES! THESE EYES! woahh! Sage of the Six Paths that sounds like a dope concept :D yes Yahiko, Nagato and Konan :) its tough being a kid in that era, its tough trying to determine what is right or wrong, Jiraiya is really a great mentor and a great sensei :) it must be really sad for them but obviously Jiraiya cant stay forever, at least he led them to become stronger and self sufficient, he gave them the tools to survive :) ye Orochimaru was being more pessimistic while Jiraiya was still trying to be positive :) poor Jiraiya his ideals got crushed after the news that the kids died :/ ye and here Orochimaru made up his mind :) so the stuff with Hanzo that time was the 2nd Great Ninja War, they didnt have their summonings at the time, then when Minato came around that was the 3rd Great Ninja War :) now we know why Jiraiya switched to pervy novels xD Jiraiya was kind of the godfather of Naruto :D and as he mentioned he came up with the name while eating Ramen, you know that Naruto is that swirly white and pink topping, it all makes sense :D it all came around full circle :) amazing reaction to amazing stuff :)

Man this is such a great episode , who'd have thought Jiraiya had so much going on in his past huh ? and like you said it really does take a really good look into the way people's outlooks and experiences can shape the paths they walk in life. The ones who give up or stop caring because they think there's no hope left for people walk down the darker path, and are swayed more toward becoming immoral and greedy and selfish like Orochimaru, and the ones who are more empathetic, and try to understand people and their pain become the world shakers, the ones who bring light to the dark.

Jiraya was a true dedicated hero. He wrote the Tales of a Gutsy Ninja as an autobiography no doubt, but he felt at the time that Nagato was the revolutionary. The character's name was Naruto, which is literally two-letters (one kanji) off from Nagato

Hmmm what scene to analyze today...........Welp I dont have a particular scene so I am just going to talk about different scenes since there are some excellent choices the writers of this show made when scripting this episode and the previous one. If you havent noticed it yet but I really love this show
For the froggy world, the architecture and the way how the environment was constructed reminds me of Polynesian/Indonesian influences. The statues of the frogs had a slight resemblance to Buddhism statues which are supposed to symbolize Enlightenment where an individual has finally reached the perfect balance of harmony. According to some websites I searched on talking about the meaning of frogs, it is supposedly meant to represent transformation or change. I think this is a nice fit for Jiraya's character since it kind of plays an important role in his life. For example, Jiraya's life before he entered this world was composed with him being focused on earning Lady Tsunade's approval through sheer will and effort of getting stronger. His motives for becoming stronger changed the more time he spent training in this froggy world and instead of being infatuated with winning Lady Tsunade over he started questioning what was this need of attaining this amount of strength if all he was doing just ended with earning somebody's approval. This slight change of thought showed his maturity and his mind seeking out for something even greater than what he thought of before. In the previous episode, where Jiraya was talking to Lady Tsunade, he mentions that the only thing to look forward to when getting old is wisdom. Through these previous scenes of seeing little Jiraya mature and grow older we could also see him mature in his mindset, looking for a more abstract answer rather than one that has already been discovered. This is a good base for Jiraya to go off on since it mentally prepares him for this journey he will undertake to fulfill the prophecy. On top of this, the prophecy foretold by that old geezer frog, led him to find this one pupil who would bring a great change to the Ninja World would push him to become more wise in the process. If it weren't for that prophecy Jiraya more than likely would have not concerned himself with finding that one shinobi who would be able to bring peace and stability to the ninja world. This whole destiny that Jiraya has concerned himself with has brought a huge change not only to his character but to the overall plot as well. Thanks to all of his journeys he was able to gain different perspectives of what is the best way to achieve peace in a time like this, seeing the alternative beliefs people have about this shinobi world helps us as the audience realize the answer isn't as easy as we think. And every time Jiraya is trying to search for this answer we get pulled in because we also want to know the answer to this broad question. Right now this question becomes one that drives the plot forward and sets the tone for the rest of the arc. However all of this would not have even happened if it weren't for Jiraya ending up in that froggy world in the first place. So I found that the acronym for a frog here is smart on the writers part because it helped tie things all together. Also the fact that the prophecy focused on that one person who was going to bring a great change to the shinobi world whether it be good or bad, ties back into the meaning of a frog, Change. And change is necessary in order for the world to continue moving and life to continue thriving.

Hmmmm well I think he would. Even if he didn’t have the prophecy maybe during the War era, this question would come into fruition and he might decide to search for the answer himself since he seems like the type of shinobi who would be against war and look for other ways to end this problem. I’m not saying that Jiraya would disregard the fact of finding peace if there was no prophecy given to him rather he wouldn’t know where to begin. If he were to start looking for the answer to this question, I think he would have a tougher time finding the answer on his own. This prophecy acted as his blueprint showing him how he was going to be able to tackle this quest in order to find the correct way to train his pupil in a way that they will make the right decision. Between creation or destruction. It is because of that Jiraya himself embarked on this mission of locating the best way to achieve peace.
