Don't worry about 'not knowing' something or whatever. People who get mad about stuff like that are weird, the effort you guys put in to understand the game is amazing
I fully agree! Complaining that they don't have information we all had to learn at some point will just make the experience of learning about football less enjoyable.
The rules of the WC are quite simple: 32 participants in 8 groups with 4 teams each. Within the group each of the four teams plays the three others (so there are 6 games in evvery group). Win gives you 3 pointa, draw 1 point, defeat nothing. Best 2 teams from each group advance to the knockout stage. So knockout stage starts with 16 teams (16 others are already out). And after ronund of 16 there come quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. So you need seven games to win. Great job you both do, I like your videos and comments very much!
The 32 countries are selected with a tournament in the previews years. Depending on their geographical area, a certain number of countries qualifies for the World Cup. Qualified teams are then divided in 4 ranks (from best to worst), based on their global ranking (that is based on historical results). Word Cup groups are created randomly with a team of each rank. The only exception is the Host of the WC that is considered of best rank whataver its ranking is, so they will not face a rank A team in their first matches.
Very well explained. In 2026, the tournament will expand to 48 teams which will split into into 12 groups of 4 teams, with the top 2 of each group and the 8 best third-placed teams progressing to a new round of 32 knockout stage until we get a champion
1:33 hope you noticed where it all began and spread from 🏴!! Hahaha… this video was more about social and health problems. The World Cup begins with a group stage first. So 32 teams are divided into 8 groups of 4, they all play each other once. After that the top two teams of each of the 8 groups proceed into the knockout stages, one game each round (the last 16, quarter finals, semi finals and then the final. The knockout stage games have extra time and penalties incase it’s a draw after 90mins.
I've often said that soccer does for the rest of the world what basketball does for the US. There's a place to play on every corner, all you need to play is a ball (so it's cheap), and *everybody* in the neighborhood knows the basic rules. I was watching the NCAAs coverage, and Clark Kellogg said, "Soccer is basketball for the feet." And I don't think he's wrong! Spread out the defense, find the passing lanes and try to get behind them. Close up and don't let the offense through. And constantly be ready to switch. You don't know when they're going to turnover the ball. You don't know when *you're* going to turnover the ball! :D The differences are caused by the size of the field (in pro/international games) and the rules about time. The biggest "sin" in soccer is stopping the game (that's why the rule states the whole ball has to cross the whole line, even on the sidelines - fewer turnovers means less stoppage, so do everything to keep the ball in play). That's why the clock counts up, and the official time is kept by the ref. "Oh, you gonna lie there for three minutes? Guess what? We're playing for 48min now, not 45!" The US has actually been kind of 'backwards' with the game. It's considered a "rich kid's" sport. Older fans of the sport here hate that, since it shouldn't be that way. I mean, the video's right that it helps to be a rich country to win big tournaments..but the game shouldn't be expensive to *play*.
You guys are doing a great job. Remember, you're learning this as adults. We absorb it from birth so there's a hell of a lot for you to take in all at once. Population and wealth USA has, imagine how good you could be at football
I applaud your dedication to learn about and understand the game. Your reactions and choice of vids are the best out there, by country mile. keep them coming, I have no doubt that you'll reach the 100,000k subscribers in less than a year.
Paolo Maldini: The Most Feared Defender In History. Video By Raymar Football. Y'all reacted to him the 🐐 of Lockdown so would love to see y'all know more about him as he had a very big share in football's great history. ✊🏻✊🏻
If people get "angry" at u for not knowing, thats a minority, don't mind them. I'm sure most of us who come to your channel are happy watching people willing to learn and be interested in the sport and all it offers. Ps. Since they mentioned the "size matters" in terms of football, the countries with small population dont produce many great players. There is a dude from a little country in center america: El Salvador. His name is Jorge "El Mágico" González. He played for small team in spaniard 1st division and thats where he got famous. Maradona himself said he was the best player he ever saw and played with. You'd love to see his skills, it was crazy.
3:30 it was british fans and players that spread the game around the world, but the english suits and old boys were against it becoming properly international. It was the french and southamericans afterwards that decided to create the modern international by spreading competition.
18:12 the teams get to be put in groups 4 teams in a group and then they play and the top 2 teams with the most point goes to the round of 16 that’s where the knockout starts and they go to quarter finals and then semifinals and then the final
React to Weston McKinney . He was my teammate for a while in the Fc Dallas Academy and now he plays with the USA national team . You guys should def root for your country when it comes down to the World Cup . It’s about being proud of your country and supporting it in a very high level tournament . Of course we are all fans of other countries but the World Cup means a lot . It’s a WHOLE country .
Come on guys, even if international football isnt great (some like it ,most hate it) you have to cheer your nation till you are eliminated ,enjoy the banter between fans ,imagine USA vs Canada/Mexico think how fun that could end up ,the banter(trash talk) would be amazing and for the one who wins its even better.
support your national team and your favorite team aswell. many people does that. i'm supporting tunisia my national team and portugal aswell because it has my favorite player cristiano. italy my favorite national team but they didn't make it to the world cup unfortunately
Lol this guy was pretty hard on South Africa, our football has fallen off since our golden age in the 90's, but on the other end we've dominated these countries on the rugby field
A total of six matches are played within a group. The last round of matches of each group is scheduled at the same time to preserve fairness among all four teams. The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage (quarter-final then semi-final then the final.)
Put it like this world cup is every four years. Afterwards it takes almost 4 years to quality for the actual world cup. You play qualifying games for a few years til the event starts within a few months.
As a South African it was really hard for our sportmen of colour in general to get anywhere, my dad was a footballer and an athlete, never had the opportunity to go pro, same with my grandfather and his brother in law when it came to playing Rugby, as our players were restricted to coloured leagues or black leagues.
I believe theres a netflix series about the first guys who started playing soccer in england. I havent watched yet so I cant really recommend tho 😂 maybe its worth watching
The only sport that plays for 8 to 10 months year around. Mind you even when the top players are on a vacation , you have the games friendlys here in the states.
The world cup is coming to the US in 2026 and I hope you guys get to watch some games and kive that atmosphere , I know Americans love the Super bowl and the NBA finals but a WC tournament is different than eveything else in Sports and almsot every game is as intense and has crazy vibes as in the final stages
First things first, world cups happen every 4 YEARS only. So before countries all over the world get to play there they have to QUALIFY and earn their place since limited spots are allocated per continent. That's why one of the biggest stories for this year's world cup is Italy (European champions) not even qualifying for 2 world cups in a row (2018/2022).
you can always support in the world cup, the two teams are your home country if its in the competition since who doesnt wanna support his country and be proud of it and a county you enjoy watching which you are still or routing for...plus you sre lucky your country qualified most who watch the world cup pick a team they like since its hard for most countries to qualify hence not having their country in the world cup competition
the Finals are a total of 7 games if you get to the Semi finals(everyone who gets to the semis, lays anther game if they win their semi they play the final, if they lose their semi they play 3rd/4th place play off game) 3 group games (league games, Win= 3 points, draw= 1 point, lose= 0)) 4 knock out games. (Cup knock out you lose and you are out) But this is the "Finals" tournament The actual qualification takes places in the 2 years before a world cup and is between 14-20 games. The qualification is a league so you dont have to win every game, but you have to win more than the others in your League so to win a world cup you play 21 to 27 games and probably have to win 14-18 of those
8 groups of 4 who play eachother all once (so everyone plays 3 times) 2 go thru out of each group KO stage, 1 game each stage, 16 teams -> QFs -> Semis -> Final (or third vs fourth place match). So, 7 games max
Thanks guys! You will get there! Do not forget that the World Cup-tournament is not all you need. It takes like two years to qualify to the World Cup. So you are playing many games against different countries, home and away and it all starts like two years before. Same for the European Championship--tournament. So the National teams are playing many games every year. But just leave it for now and take it easy and most of all, enjoy😁😁🤩🤩
National team football and club football are 2 different things. National = players from that country represent their country. Club = Any player from any country plays for that club. For National football you should support your country (USA) but for club football it doesn't really matter but you should support 1 club that you feel you connect to the most.
Us football fans love to explain the sport to new fans. We are here for any questions you guys have until you get a full grasp of the sport (you will get obsessed with it)
Iyaaahhhh Mookie! Great to see you back guys, hope you enjoyed the wedding. Please check out all or nothing series, they explain the behind the scenes. Very similar ti your F1 videos only for football
If you want to watch something similar try this ''WHY ex-Yugoslavs are the best footballers'' by ''DW Kick off!''. Croatians (part of ex-Yugoslavia) are rly proud of our football players and we have some great achievements in the world cup, 2nd and 3rd place for a country with 4mil population is not bad, but we still have to win one. P.S. we have Luka Modric
I was born in England but i don't have to support the the country I'm from, my father and all grandparents was born in another country. So i always support that other country in any sport they compete in.
I get it! I'm in Atlanta. One of the coolest things I've ever seen at a game was some match where we were playing Club America (Liga MX) for some artificial cup. Dad was a white guy with a United jersey. Mom was a Latina with a CA shirt. Their pre-teen kid had a custom one the family must have made. They'd cut an ATL and CA jersey in half - and sewed the halves together! I don't think I've ever seen anything that describes real football in the US any better than that.
This is an interesting video but what you guys need is a video on the rules of the world cup. Knowing the format will definitely clear a lot of things up for you!
you guys should react to the history of the world cup: stadiums, final games, scandals, origin, and goals, skills, players… anything you know what i mean
fyi there is a world cup style tournament for basketball too, it's just that americans dont care that much about it since america has been so dominant in that sport (though that is changing quite abit as of recent, its still the case just less so) and it plays with FIBA rules not NBA rules. Though I consider fiba rules harder, and so would the homies doncic, giannis and jokic.
The video turned out to be cool .. even tho its not what you guys really wanted to know at first place.. let me tell u these. in chamipons leauge you have to play 2 games vs same team cause its home and away game .. but if you are playing in netural ground just like world cup host country you only need to play once .. world cup system is the same as champions leauge .. but instead facing a team 2 times you only need to play once ... in champions you need to play 12 games without the finals and in world cup you need to play half of it which is 6 cause you only playing once against them
It more explain the reasons and why's national teams excel and win the world cup and other fail at the competition or even fail to qualify rather than an explanation about the format of the world cup tournament itself. The selection pool of teams winning the world still the same since the competition started France, Brazil, Germany, Spain, England are favored, Italy a favorite who hasn't qualified, Uruguay, Argentina, Portugal are also has chances those nation are either Western European or South American this mean it has become a exclusivity for those regions who actually started the game earlier by couple of years than others
this video was ok, but it was more of an essay on how to have better chances at winning the world cup rather than explaining the tournament itself. I dont know of any good videos explaining that, but once you watch it you will get it. its basically a group stage of 4 teams and then the winner and runner up of each group goes to the knock out rounds until the final.
It’s actually shocking how the US isn’t a world power-house in this sport. It mainly boils down to our youth focusing on other sports because soccer isn’t affordable in the States - it’s been getting better but we should’ve been competitive generations ago.
That's the cheapest sport on earth not as expensive as American sports. The only unique thing about the sport is that it needs decades of Experience which the US doesn't have & cannot use shortcuts to achieve the same.
You guys should check out our players... we got some great players. They all play for good or decent clubs in Europe.. McKennie played with Ronaldo at Juventus. Pulisic at Chelsea, etc etc. You don't wanna be rooting on the guys and not know who they are! lol
Yes you will have to support USA, there's been quite abit of investment in USA football last decade or so and there actually half decent so good luck, I'm irish we didn't get through qualification to get to the finals so I'm just looking forward to a great tournament, I'm supporting anyone but England lol think France Brazil Portugal or Germany will win
Firstly I am VERY happy that some americans (sorry to those who are still calling it soccer 🤣, just had to put that joke in) are now calling the beautiful game football. I grew up back in DRC Congo watching football from all over the world (I have 5 brothers and 4 sisters, divided in our picks of teams..my 1st world cup was mondial 1984, not even 10 yrs old yet, I'm a German fan since then). I mean we would go days crying, not eating well if our teams did not do well 🤣🤣🤣.. that's when my "hate" of diego maradonna started 🤣🤣but honestly "hated" more like feared him, because he was that GREAT!! When I moved to Europe, my other half took me to Milan and I first met Del Piero, what a legend (my baby brothers favourite). Man I grew up on the likes of franz bekenbawyer (hope the spelling is right). Ruminigger, ortega, bebeto geez. Arsenal fan in the times of berkamp, Thierry Henry,, not a Man utd fan but Ryan giggs was legend in my eyes. Rooney was brilliant too. Bayern Munich is my team no matter what. Since I moved to Ireland, I miss a lot those great football moment times with my brothers (my sisters too..they get too emotional 🤣🤣they go on food strikes when their teams lose). My choice for Germany is because, although things change..they don't really have like a 'star' player, it's always team work (although football is about team work) but those who know the game know what I mean 😊. Any south american team in my eye is lethal. Although you play to score, I enjoy mainly the skills, hence why Ronaldinho is to me a "capolavoro" 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 😊
32 countries divided into groups, 4 teams in each group, all 4 teams play eachother meaning you ll play 3 group matches and the 2 teams with the highest points qualifies from each group, which means 16 teams go to the next round 16 teams go back home ,that stage is called the (2nd round)at this stage if you lose you go home that means you only get to play one game to get to get to the next round ,so now we gat 8 teams and 8 gone, this stage is called the (quater finals)You win the next game you get to the next round(semi finals)4 teams left 4 gone the winner of each game go to the final and losers fight for 3rd place (the bronze medal)now obviously the winner of the final wins the world Cup and the golden medals the loser wins silver medal. One more thing bro react to Tyler Adams, I know mookie gon love him ,he is one of the best upcoming defensive midfielders in the game and he is american,he used to play for new York redbulls and then went to leipzig in the german bundesliga and now plays in the Premier league, watching your fellow countrymen play at the highest level will give you the genuine passion you need to expand your knowledge of the game naturally. ✌
React to Casemiro please, Real Madrid Legend and one of the best defensive midfielder that ever played, he's recently leaving Madrid to Manchester United now
Bro you remember when I told you about jesse marsch the American leeds manager?yesterday he whooped chelsea 3 0,he is 3rd in the epl as I m writing this, pls react to leeds vs chelsea 3 0.
You should react to “How Canada qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 36 years”. Some beautiful goals. Like USA, Canada’s golden generation is here too! And they whooped USA 😉 🇨🇦
The bigger the country or population is nonsense. Look at Russia, the US, Canada, China, India etc. The only "big" country that dominates world football is Brazil otherwise for the most part they're not great
The thing is how Americans view Sports as a past time, their Sports are Franchises... But this is not, it may be abused as one by the Fifa but time and time again, it proves to be out of their control to actually turn the Sport into a Franchise. But Football is cultural, it's a part of every City and Town, Clubs are often quite old and have huge amounts of members where families are part of it passed from generation to generation including ideologies, take Glasgow, they have two major Clubs, the Protestant Rangers and the Catholic Celtics, yes that too factors in here, but let's stay with the franchising and look at the Rangers as example, 41000 members strong, the club is actually fan owned and since they are Scottish... well , let's just say, if the Fifa or Uefa were trying to tell them what they can and can not do... they are Scottish... they have been fined nine times last season for a total of about €120000 by the UEFA for "misconduct"... you think they care? The guy says how strong the Brits could be if not every part had it's own national Team but... it just wouldn't work, the fans would never accept it and that's the thing, if the fans don't accept it, it wont work out, like the super league.
Imagine if basketball had a proper world cup like football. USA would body everyone else for years. That's basically rule #1, be first. Then again I think no one would beat USA at basketball
Wassup Nick and mookie big love man please react to Cristiano Ronaldo - the United story by Jtg productions. It goes into depth about his time at man utd
He said a lot of shit you didn't really need to know, for what you guys wanted to know it was a bad video. There should be another video that breaks down the world cup a lot better
He talks about everything but what the world cup is... I really need them to watch a proper explanation video on the world cup cause idk what that was.
His explanation of South Africa's situation coupled with lack of mention for the other African nations was HARSH and pretty IGNORANT for someone who was explaining the history of THE GAME. He could have done better.
That's because South Africa has the most f*cked up history in the sport despite billions being invested in it to grow the sport. He couldn't mention Cameroon, Nigeria, Egypt, Senegal, Algeria & Ghana which are big names in Football. South Africa is the only African country that calls Football Soccer 😂
Don't worry about 'not knowing' something or whatever. People who get mad about stuff like that are weird, the effort you guys put in to understand the game is amazing
Yeah that's shows how much passionate they are about the game
I fully agree! Complaining that they don't have information we all had to learn at some point will just make the experience of learning about football less enjoyable.
I find it ironic that most of the people actin like they know the game dunno shit, wish they ll humble themselves and learn about the game too.

wait until they see the new ucl tourney layout... the swiss layout is stupid

lmao.. he really went in on my country South Africa, damn😭😂 🇿🇦
Man people can’t get mad when they learning the sport. At least they put in effort to understand what’s happening. I can never be mad at that.
I know you try and I appreciate how much you guys are trying to learn, love to both of you and big ups!!!

On South Africa, we might have lost immediately after reinstating the team, we won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1996.
The narrator kinda had a thing against SA🇿🇦 his choice of words is bitter...

You missed one knockout stage, octave-final (i'm mexican so i don't know if it's correct but in spanish is "octavos de final" 😅)
@@joaogomez5648 last 16 then quarter-final then semi-final then the final
As a South African , it hurt watching this video

You guys have learned so so much since a year ago
On Rimet's initiative, the first FIFA World Cup was held in 1930. The Jules Rimet Trophy was named in his honour en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jules_Rimet
I believe theres a netflix series about the first guys who started playing soccer in england. I havent watched yet so I cant really recommend tho 😂 maybe its worth watching

For National football you should support your country (USA) but for club football it doesn't really matter but you should support 1 club that you feel you connect to the most.
Every teams only play once against each other in FIFA World Cup unlike UEFA Champions League where you play against each other twice
Bro this video is even confusing to football fans. It is like a university lecture.
Us football fans love to explain the sport to new fans. We are here for any questions you guys have until you get a full grasp of the sport (you will get obsessed with it)
Donnie said Madonna 😂
Round 1: 4 team mini league / 3 games / top 2 go through
Then 16 teams play knockout tournament through quarter/semi and final
Iyaaahhhh Mookie! Great to see you back guys, hope you enjoyed the wedding. Please check out all or nothing series, they explain the behind the scenes. Very similar ti your F1 videos only for football
Three games in the group stage. 2 best records go to single elimination. Then another 4 matches (if you make the finals).
FUTBO IS LIFEEEE!
England took the game of football to every country they colonised and also some European countries like Spain.
I hope the US team goes fare, if they have qualified, like they did it in South Africa.
Friendlies only happen after a season 😂
fyi there is a world cup style tournament for basketball too, it's just that americans dont care that much about it since america has been so dominant in that sport (though that is changing quite abit as of recent, its still the case just less so) and it plays with FIBA rules not NBA rules.
Brasil has more then 7k to 9k professional soccer players. Sad fact that the money is not their.
You guys should check out our players... we got some great players. They all play for good or decent clubs in Europe.. McKennie played with Ronaldo at Juventus. Pulisic at Chelsea, etc etc.
You don't wanna be rooting on the guys and not know who they are! lol
Fun fact USA got 3rd at the first ever World Cup .. almost made the Final
Chile also did it, not much of a Big deal actually
Yeah this video was unnecessarily compicated
Everytime he does that cringe intro, I feel Mookies pain. You can tell he hates it. 😂
I like your reactions. Love from DPRK
Spain 🔥🇪🇸
This is a horrible explanation video on the world cup. Who recomended this? It hardly explains what the world cup tournament is...
Population size is key, this is why if the US even gets semi into football, you guys can really eventually be good, just takes time
So how can you explain Croatia? The endless talent pool from nothing?
React to Casemiro please, Real Madrid Legend and one of the best defensive midfielder that ever played, he's recently leaving Madrid to Manchester United now
Is a war ,but not kill
Hi. Do u know Samuel Eto’O? Did u already react to this african player? I did not find it.
Football (soccer) was created in England it's called the English game
This video is not breaking down the world cup format its just saying how hard international football is
Bro you remember when I told you about jesse marsch the American leeds manager?yesterday he whooped chelsea 3 0,he is 3rd in the epl as I m writing this, pls react to leeds vs chelsea 3 0.
brothers I want to see your reaction for the qualifying match of canada and usa in the world cup this year please
You should react to “How Canada qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 36 years”. Some beautiful goals. Like USA, Canada’s golden generation is here too! And they whooped USA 😉 🇨🇦
Any why they will lose against Croatia, a super small country. :)
3 games and go to the home. 😂🤣
I prefer canada hockey at least they can won competition
react to luis suarez you ll love it he s a beast
React to France road to World Cup 2018
Bro it’s here….
Hell, you support every national team you want. It's about passion, not neccesarly patriotism...
Brazil stops on his game day
Imagine if basketball had a proper world cup like football. USA would body everyone else for years. That's basically rule #1, be first.
Then again I think no one would beat USA at basketball
Basketball has the world championship and USA lost many times.
Madonna? Maradona bro.
This was a pretty bad video imo to explain the actual rules for the world cup.
10:42 jajaja. Subliminal images: Trump and Putin.
If your ever looking for good videos about the premier league have a look at the prem league RUclips page... Great videos
Bruh this video is not it...
You need something more informative but with less unnecessary information
Bro this is a terrible video. The OP acts like he knows stuff but it's all very simplistic.
This video has so much useless information that I’d never explain if someone wanted to understand how the World Cup works
