+TheStarToursTraveler Quite a few scenes from Boromir have been removed in the final version shamefully.
Extended Moria, extended Amon hen, Osgilliath scene.
They were actually really good scenes and it's a real shame they got cut. Made him look even more like a hero.
He was a good man, but the ring played to much on his 'will to see Gondors might restored'.

I love this :) Boromir is a treasure. I can't believe some people think he was evil/bad because he tried to take the ring from Frodo. Boromir wasn't the only one that fell under its horrible influence. And he only wanted to use the ring to protect his people, not just for the power it could give him. It was that desperate need and his love for Gondor that made him succumb to that temptation. He regretted it almost immediately and then gave his life to try and save Merry and Pippin. Boromir was a great warrior and a good person.

i think boromir is supposed to the side of man in LOTR that is proud, strong, and good, but also vulnerable to the draw of power. hes much closer to isildur than aragorn is. im glad they gave him a good death though and not some bullshit

There was so much more at that time that Boromir had weighing on his shoulders. Knowing of the existence and scale of a threat still pales in comparison to fighting that threat up close shoulder-to-shoulder with the common man on the front lines.
The Ring probably preyed on that up-close-and-personal dedication to the people of Gondor mercilessly. In the Extended Edition, Boromir seems like the kind of man that knew all of the troops under his command by name, how they were doing, what their lot in life was, and knew that they loved him in return.
I can see the Ring flashing all the faces of his friends and comrades through his mind, promising him that he could save each and every single one of them, and the ones they held dear, if he would just use the Ring's power.

It's so sad, how Boromir never had a family of his own... He's so good with the hobbits, here. I can easily imagine him with children of his own. It's tragic that his life was cut off so suddenly. He never got to be a father :'(

CaptainDashund Boromir = EVERYONE'S big brother. Seriously go watch the movie again. Anything NOT involving him & the ring shows how great a guy he is. This training session, his telling Gandalf the mountain trek was gonna kill the hobbits, putting a comforting hand on Gimli's shoulder in Moria, catching hoolding back & carrying Frodo during the bridge scene, holding back & comforting Gimli after Gandalf apparently dies, "GIVE THEM A MOMENT FOR PITY SAKE!", telling Frodo Gandalf didn't die in vain, his genuine & anguished "FRODO I'M SORRY!", his fighting like hell to protect Merry & Pippin, "they took the little ones!". Seriously the guy is really a great guy he just let his desperation get too great.

This scene is great in so many levels. It shows an emotional conection between Boromir and Merry-Pippin that later will be important when he defends the hobbits. He also trains the hobbits as you can imagine he has done with countless soldiers in Gondor, he is skilled and trying to not to harm them while training but giving them some basic skills.
It also shows how different are Frodo and Sam. Frodo being the positive and Sam being the realistic one. Not a word spoken but so eloquent.
Gimli trying to convince Gandalf and Legolas with his long vision detecting the threat.
All the company is portrayed in one single scene. Beautiful.

It is true that tolkien has never mentionate marjiuana talking about the pipe-weed of the halflings but there are a ton of things that make you believe that it is actually weed. N.1 radagast when he try for the first time the pipe-weed of Gandalf. N.2 Saruman when Gandalf talk about having found the ring in the shire he say "the love of the pipe-weed has confuse your brain" i don't think you will never say this if u talk about tabacco. N.3 When Bilbo talk about the shire he say the most loved things about hobbits and one is eating, and if i'm not mistaken in the book(the lost tales) was saying that the pipe-weed give u a big appetite, like marjiuana. N.4 Also in the same book in a council with Saruman Gandalf say that pipe-weed help you to be relax and help to remaing calm when someone (sarumam) say things with no sense and provocatory. N.5 When pippin and merry found the saruman food storage room they start to smoke and eating at the same time and they were very happy. Every tabacco smoker know that you can't eating and smoking a cigarette and the same time. The tobacco take away your anger the marjiuana no.

Meh to be entirely fair, he wasn't so much "corrupted" by it as much as he couldn't as he couldn't take it any longer and then proceeded to regret it immediately. Gollum and Isildur were corrupted, all boromir wanted was to drive the orcs back into Mordor with the damn thing. And since Frodo had sat on it for almost 20 years and Bilbo for 60+ that takes _forever_ to kick in anyway.

    • @jm5887
      @jm5887 2 года назад +3

@@wholesome_masochist4113 like gollum and isildurs corruption was due to selfishness and greed. Boromir as he said sought only to defend his people. He knows Gondor is on the brink they're the ones who are keeping mordor back. and without a king he is the only hope left for his people and his biggest fear is seeing all he, faramir and his family have fought for be reduced to ruin. I swear some of the best scenes in the whole trilogy are the little interaction scenes between the Fellowship, even after they’ve split. You get a real feel of friendship like they’re a bunch of mates going on the most dangerous road trip ever.

I just went to this scene to understand the diference of characters. Boromir is gentle and wants to improve the fighting skills of the hobbits while Guyladriel is only happy to humiliate some guys to prove she the superior fighter. Night and day.

I used to at least disliked his character when I saw the movies back as a kid and appreciate him as I got older, but when seeing the extended version with Boromir like this and giving the tension of going to Mt. Doom some levity, with fun and laughter, Boromir became one of my favorite tragic characters.

This was a great scene, we got to see Frodo and Sam smile. It was nice to see Mary and Pippin getting lessons from Boromir. Seeing them knocking him down and having fun was a good scene. I laughed when the future king of Gondor was defeated by two hobbits, it’s just so funny two grown men of Gordor can’t win against two hobbits half their size. It’s one of my favourite scenes, it was really sweet to see the fellowship bounding, and relaxing.
