Not quite, while trying to lift the battery out, I put the metal tool at the wrong end, and the entire phone went on fire, a very hot fire, I had to quickly submerge it in water. I think it's important to mention to keep the metal tools away from the top. It happened so fast I just had time to dump it in water. More importantly than pictures, I also had a lot of very important documents on the phone.
Thanks for the video. I really had to crank up the heat to get the rear plate to let go......but i finally got it. The only thing i would recommend to anyone who may read this is to perform a function test prior to gluing the back cover back on......just to b sure everything works right.
Worked great. Battery came with a 60% charge and I am very pleased to keep my Note 8 for back ups etc. The detail I would add, is do not remove the glue, unless you have silicone glue to replace it. Everything came off, as you instructed and I patiently heated, slowly removed and kept heating to ensure the glass stayed beautiful. Thanks again.
I briefly checked out different videos for note 8 battery replacement . Yours is by far the most detailed. Your soft, clear voice is very helpful in minimizing stress of task. The fact that you assume the viewer knows very little about these technical things makes it that much more understandable, since i am one of "them.". Thank you! Forrest
My original battery puffed up. So upset with Samsung for such an expensive phone for this to happen. Due to pandemic, I decided to try repair at home. Bought battery kit, heating pad and work mat online. I watched your video and I did it!! My Note 8 powers up and seems to be working fine. I hope i won’t have any issues later. Thank you so much! 😊
I just replaced my note 8 battery using your video it really helped me 👍 I used the included sticky strips that came with the battery just stuck them on the battery. You did a fine job explaining everything.. Thanks
Excellent tutorial on exchanging the battery in the Note 8. It's pretty hairy and you could do the wrong thing because it's your first time. I don't understand why Samsung made it so hard to change batteries. My note 4 was absolutely no problem or hassle. Are there people around who do this for a living? I definitely would pay an experienced person to change mine. Thanks Again for your awesome work!!
Useful video in some ways, thanks. A few issues. Always use OEM factory batteries (if possible) unless you want a fire in your pocket or to replace your battery again in a year or less. Always use plastic pry tools only! NEVER use a lot of pressure/strength, (even though this work takes a lot of pressure!) the back plate and screen are made of glass and crack VERY easily! Don't slide a metal pry under the cover when trying to remove it, unless you like frying/breaking your phone's motherboard and microchips. When you pry up the back plate of this specific phone, you MUST use tweezers and gently disconnect the fingerprint reader wiring underneath before moving the cover too much and tearing it off. Don't pry the battery out against the motherboard with a metal pry like in this video! Use very little battery adhesive because it just makes future replacements hard again, and is not super critical, especially if your phone lives in a phone case. Whenever removing and reinstalling the back plate of this phone, you MUST completely clean off ALL the old adhesive and apply NEW adhesive. Otherwise, your phone will NO longer be waterproof, (At all) and the backing plate may even come off on it's own due to reusing the old worn-out adhesive! You also need to bake the new adhesive on after reassembly (apply heat again), then put a flat heavy weight on top of the phone and let is sit until it cools off. (Awhile) Then you can power on the phone and see if it works properly.
Thank you for the video! It was a very easy fix for me took about 25 to 30 minutes. Question though, is the battery work with wireless charging? Mine does not seem to be working with the wireless charging pad like before? I know some batteries are compatible with wireless and some are not.
This was my 1st battery replacement I have done so it went slow took an hour, next time half hour, watched your video as I worked on it, I wasn't sure I could of done it without your help.
What about disconnecting the fingerprint sensor cable before removing the back cover? All the other instructional videos say that it could be damaged otherwise. It seems easier the way you're doing it, so what is your advice?
Overall a good video, just a couple of notes for beginners watching. 1st, Turn off the phone before you take it apart. 2nd, I didn't like how you used a metal spudger to lift the battery, they are delicate and very dangerous if pierced. Please use plastic ones on batteries.
