The most impressive range session I ever saw was back in the late 90s when I was a “cart boy” at TPC Sawgrass. Sir Nick Faldo was on the range by himself and I sat on a towel 10 feet behind him and just watched. With a 5 iron, he could call fades and draws in 1 yard increments. He was like a machine, literally. Super nice guy as well. I’ll never forget it.
Sir Nick gets so much flack for no reason - I’m glad your experience was the same as mine. I met him in a restaurant a few years ago, he was having a meal with his family and I was nervous to go up and speak to him but he was more than happy to stop for a couple mins to chat with me and have a photo with me, I’ll always be a big fan of him for that
@cpk1994 Yeah this is an absolute gold mine. Comparing content like this side by side to my swing videos has really helped my game. Granted this is a slightly different angle than normal but you can still get a lot of information.
Well put! He's absolutely incredible. Best to ever play the game, hands down. IMHO, he would've won so many more majors had injuries not plagued him but it is what it is. He would contort his body swinging so hard that it was only a matter of time until that caught up to him. Fast forward to this past February with that brutal car crash injury also. Regardless, he's still always going to be the *GOAT* in my book! *Also, the amount of skill it takes to hit it flush every time without taking huge divots is absolutely INCREDIBLE* 🐯🐅🐐
Agreed, his swing is so sound, wow! Must be nice to just stripe one ball after another.I don't think he missed the center of the clubface that whole session.
Every one of those shots struck as crisp and clean as possible. The sound is so pure. So effortless. Contrast to my time on the range: turf flying everywhere….people ducking for cover….f-bombs flying. Me sweating like I ran a marathon.

@@rosariocarias7906 Well, I can see him being around maybe 5-6 more years and even then, he is going to have a limited 15-16 tournament schedule. He might continue playing some majors after that if he hasn't caught Jack's 18 by then, maybe only playing in 10 tournaments a year. However, considering Tiger already has almost every Nicklaus accomplishment topped as well as breaking other records Nicklaus never came close to, it's all about majors for him now. The question is, how many tournaments is a major worth? This is something I ask people. If one player had one major and 30 Tour wins and the other had 2 majors and 5 tour wins, who had the better career? If Tiger ends up with 90 wins (17 more than Nicklaus) and 16 majors (especially since Tiger will have probably 15-16 WGC events as well and having played against fields where the best players play against each other much more often than they did in Jack's day, how much is 1 or 2 majors worth? Are those 2 majors more important than having 17 more wins and maybe 6 or 7 more player of the year titles? Do his 4 years of record scoring averages matter (67.794 in 2000 and 67.794 in 2007 - something Nicklaus didn't really come within a stroke of ever) or his consecutive cut streak or his record of most consecutive rounds at par or better matter at all? Or, do his 9 Player of the Years compared to Jack's 5 mean anything? His 10 money titles to Jack's 8? His 9 Vardon trophies to Jack's 0? I mean, it seems like those things would only be ignored if you didn't want to give Tiger the credit of being the best to ever play the game.
I love this video, the contact is perfect and it shows everyone how much he still cares about the game, it’s a perfect template for any “dedicated” golfer
I could watch this all day. Love the tempo. Love that hes using his phone to review his swing, this is something that wasn't available and now its almost insane if your not looking at your swing.
One of the more overlooked aspects of Tiger is his tempo. The tempo and transition of his swing is perfect when he's warming up. Be interested to know how much extra he really gets when he starts speeding it up a little. If it's not 30 yards with that 5 wood it's not worth it. I don't think he could hit one bad with that transition. It's literally perfect. Was a great reminder to start doing this again when I'm warming up. Did it for years and then just stopped.

Perhaps is mind is in a better place, I really don’t know, but his swing definitely is not. It was much better back in the 99-03 era. Back before he fired Butch Harmon it was the best swing in the history of the game. He switched to Hank, attempted a swing change, and never got back to that same dominant level. Butch exploited his natural athleticism, but Hank was supposed to make him less prone to injuries by restraining his explosiveness. He was plagued with injuries ever since

Like he's one of if not the greatest golfer to ever live and even he still has really simple goals when out practicing.
If you look closely he has a super subtle trigger move before he take the club back, a very gentle forward press. First time I'm seeing this and I've watched hundreds of face on videos of his swing.. could be a new thing for him now.
Darren Clarke shared a story once that he watched Tiger hit balls for 30 mins going through his entire bag and did not produce a single turf divot. DC said that it was the most amazing thing he has seen golf wise
It's amazing to see how effortless the pros swings are. The golf swing is very technical and it's almost deceiving how effortless they make it look. Because in reality it takes years and thousands upon thousands of reps to get to that level of ease and consistency. I'm saying this just to highlight how easy it can be to forget what it's like to be a novice at something. Just because someone is good at something does not mean they would be a good teacher. I had many school teachers growing up and definitely in college that were terrible simply because they made many, many assumptions as to the amount of knowledge we had and they would breeze through concepts without going in-depth, leaving more work for us students who had to go home and really teach ourselves. I experienced what I am saying here first-hand a few weeks ago when I was on the range with some of my neighbors kids who are very novice golfers and they were struggling to even make contact with the ball, let alone make it go straight; and I was almost completely at a loss as to how and help them, because I had literally forgotten what it was like to be that much of a beginner. Honestly don't know why I felt compelled to make this comment, other than to highlight the fact that just because you don't follow along in class with a particular teacher, there is a good chance that it's not you, but that the school's hiring manager did a terrible job in assessing their true teaching capacities.
Tigers feet are so quite throughout the entire swing until he does A very subtle weight transfer and "steps" towards the target whilst externally rotating his left ankle. "Step towards the target" -- an excellent swing mantra if you have trouble with a weight shift or finishing your swing fully balanced with left palm, chest, right tricep and the back of the club head all facing the target
I've played blades most of my life and one thing they can help with is they are always making you work to improve and when you switch to forgiving irons, boy, the extra distance and accuracy can make you feel great. But you can't stick with them as they don't offer the feedback required to continue to improve.
I feel that. I’ve played Mizuno MP-33 blades for 16 years now and can’t hit anything that isn’t a blade. Regardless if some cavitybacks are more forgiving, it comes down to the mental aspect, the feel, confidence, and look of a blade that you don’t get with other clubs. But yea, you know REAL QUICK if you mishit it even slightly. Definitely forces you to focus on contact more than anything
Tiger is Tiger 🐅, Whatever he does will become a history that is surrounded by us, we are golf lovers because he has his own charisma, even when he fell
My grand father had tickets to Augusta about 12 year ago. He was standing to the right of Tiger on his tee off. Tiger’s tee went flying right to my grand dad’s feet. He has it in a box in his office with a laminated plate titled “Tiger’s tee at Augusta 6th hole”
His swing is looking really under control, no violent lashes at the ball, very very controlled power. Mind you this swing was good enough to win The Masters.......😁😁😁
Knowing tiger and watching him in real life, he’s always smooth on the range. When it comes to the course, he forces his swing at times because he wants to work the ball. If he wants to hit a straighter shot, it’s really smooth.
@@pinoy122793 Yeah Tiger is a Ranger Rick for sure. However, I don't think his swing has much to do with him wanting to work the ball as much as he used to swing too hard because he wanted distance. Also, remember, Tiger has had to once again build a completely new golf swing based on what he is now physically capable of and the driver is always going to be the hardest part for him. In the past, it took Tiger about 18 months of competitive golf to really get a swing down and that was when he was playing more. People expect too much too quickly. Tiger still has a lot of room for improvement with his driver, his irons and his putter (once he starts hitting that driver and his irons more comfortably, he will probably spend more time putting. Also, being in the fairway frees up your iron game and a good iron game frees up your putter as there is no pressure to make those 10-15 footers because you know you'll have plenty of opportunities. It's a process. Tiger is still in the middle of it. Tiger 2020 will be the real example of what he is moving towards.

Honestly don't know why I felt compelled to make this comment, other than to highlight the fact that just because you don't follow along in class with a particular teacher, there is a good chance that it's not you, but that the school's hiring manager did a terrible job in assessing their true teaching capacities.
The sound of those irons. Man you can hear the compression. Thanks for the video.
Another Tiger era is about to begin. Tour championship and the Master's were just the beginning.
Gonna need the 10 hour loop
Tiger looking great, good times and bad I’m really happy to see him turn it all around! Good luck tiger and I hope you can keep competing!
Tiger doesn't seem concerned about anything. 😎🐅👌
And that's a good thing!
I think he’s made peace with himself.
Who else wishes they could see where the balls land 😂
Nick Taylor I would like but it's on 69
M L O nice
Chandler Tingle nice
Yeah, I would like to know how far each travels too.
At the pin
I tried hitting the P-7TW irons this weekend, and man are they tough! If you're off-center a smidge it's obvious.
They are super nice irons but you are right. Those blades offer zero forgiveness.
I've played blades most of my life and one thing they can help with is they are always making you work to improve and when you switch to forgiving irons, boy, the extra distance and accuracy can make you feel great. But you can't stick with them as they don't offer the feedback required to continue to improve.
@@aaronsmith7946 Good point!
You know the driving range is good when it has sand traps 😂
Definitely my favourite for this tournament
Tiger in good condition , maybe get the Memorial Tournament Champion.
woods eric he won’t but that’s ok...he has to be ready for the major!!;)
Big Cat is looking good. Looks like he's dropped a tiny bit of weight and the swing is looking effortless. Great to see.
1:20 Tiger just adjusting his sack haha gotta love it
XD
Who's watching this knowing Tiger is playing this competition next week.
His swing has never looked better
My grand father had tickets to Augusta about 12 year ago. He was standing to the right of Tiger on his tee off. Tiger’s tee went flying right to my grand dad’s feet. He has it in a box in his office with a laminated plate titled “Tiger’s tee at Augusta 6th hole”
Why did he keep it
His swing is looking really under control, no violent lashes at the ball, very very controlled power.
Just hearing the spin off the face the way this video presents..... gold
I can watch it all day long !
"The best iron game I've ever seen." -Jack Nicklaus
Best short game & putter of all time, also
He`s just such a good sport.
