- This video is everything you need to know to put your baby into the car seat properly. It will help you set the seat up - knowing which shoulder strap slot to pick, which padding to leave in and take out, and how to dress the baby properly for the car seat. Then, you'll see how to put the baby in the straps, tighten the straps, and calm and soothe your newborn with a swaddle that is safe for the car seat.
Thank you so much. Our first baby is do in two weeks. Placing a baby in a car seat is not something I have done before. This video was very informative and I will watch again to calm my nerves.
Awkward moment when you thought the baby was a doll until she put her in the car seat lol opps Lolol

I don't know how many times I had to seriously look if that was a baby or doll she is so extremely cute :-*

Oh man, was so excited to see a real baby and not a doll! She is soo precious! Thank you for your videos, I love the one to show putting a car seat in without a base, I felt so confident when I had to do that a week later! Also realized my base was wayyyy too lose in my car and used your inside outside trick to tighten it along with the thigh push and wiggle. Your videos are literally life savers!
Thanks for using a real baby for the demonstration. Love the swaddle and calming tip!
Thanks doc, your instructions and voice are very clear. Well done
SHHHHHHHH🤚...SHHHHHHHH🤚
That’s very true about true about the strap around the shoulder by the neck, I always struggle adjusting that with my few days old baby
36 weeks pregnant and my baby got active when the baby on the video started crying, could be a coincidence but very cute either way :)
Using this as a refresher course it's been a long time since my baby was in a car seat
My kid is 18 mo old, I'm just here to see a snuggly newborn!
This was amazing. Thank you for making this video with a real baby in it. I wanted to go out with my baby today but I was scared. Yes I have been scared for a while. Now I think I gat this. I really do. (First time Mom)
Omg, that baby is making my ovaries sing. That car sear color is awesome.
AH... *duh* LOL Tighten the straps from the bottom to the top --- and it worked. (silly me) Gotcha. Much better now.
TFS!!
Sheesh that SHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was amazing !!! Can you do a video for Peg Perego 4/35 please 🙏🏻
The techniques shown in this video will apply to the Peg Perego 4-35 (and almost every other infant seat as well).
Thank you so much, we could not figure out how to loosen straps!

SOS. PLEASE ANSWER. could you please answer the question? I have the same car seat you do, it seems Cybex Aton q (or similar model). When we put our 3 weeks baby into this car seat, it seems her head is in the chin-to-chest position because of too much padding under her head. This car seat is one of the best in the market and i don't understand how is that possible that baby is in such uncomfortable, wired and unsafe position? WHY? and how to make it work for the baby to be in the right position in this car seat?
We have found that with the Cybex AtonQ and CloudQ (as well as some seats by other manufacturers as well... it is not just a Cybex issue) that the design of the head rest does push some babies into a chin to chest position. If this happens, the first thing is to make sure that the child is sitting up (not slouching at all) - as slouching will make the chin fall to the chest. Second is to make sure the straps are properly snug. Third is to make sure the head rest is in the proper position for the baby (so the shoulder straps are at or just below the shoulders). Fourth is to make sure the seat is properly reclined in the vehicle (not too upright). Fifth, try turning the baby's head to the side as this can allow the flatter part of the head to rest back. If all this still does not help and the baby's chin is still on the chest you will need a different car seat that fits your baby better. We would suggest looking at the Nuna Pipa, Clek Liing, or Chicco Fit2.
Hi, do you recommend a Diono Radian for newborns and to leave the hospital in it?
This is not a seat we find offers the best fit for newborns. If you are looking for a convertible seat from birth and want a narrow, high-capacity rear-facing seat the Clek Foonf or Fllo with the Infant Thingy would be a good choice. The Graco Extend2Fit would be a more budget friendly option that still offers a very high capacity rear-facing.
i think that was a doll!!
Thank you so much!! You're a great teacher.

That is one cute baby omg
Oooh shes adorable God bless her
We purchased the Cybex Anton Q shown in the video and have had serious troubles tightening the straps once our baby is sitting in the car seat. We even took the car seat back to the retailer who had their car seat specialists try to tighten the straps with even the slightest pressure on the straps...it was next to impossible and they said they will be contacting the manufacturer to suggest a recall. We tried the test on 3 different car seats to ensure it was not just a single defective seat. It appears as if the new automatic height feature is conflicting with the ability to tighten the straps. When we performed the same test on the Aton 2, there was no issue. It looks like in this video there is a slight skip in the frame to edit out the effort needed to tighten the strap necessary to safely secure a baby. I think this is a great video and a must watch, but it would be nice to see a unedited scene to let parents know of this defect (specific to this car seat model). I would not recommend the purchase of this car seat until some design adjustments are made.
Christopher - Yes, the straps are much harder to tighten on the AtonQ than the Aton/Aton2 due to the friction created as the straps go through the no-rethread harness. When the head rest on the Q is in its highest position the straps loosen/tighten easily. I agree that the 2 is much easier to adjust than the Q. This video is meant to serve as a general guide to buckling a child in any car seat - and is not specific to the AtonQ.
I had tried tightening the harness with the head rest at the highest position and the same issue was present. It was also suggested that I hold down the release button while tightening, neither of these "fixes" are the official use as per the instruction manual, which raises concern. I would encourage any parent thinking of buying this seat to perform the test I described in my earlier post on the floor model and compare it with any other seat on the market as the issue does not show itself until your infant is actually in the seat or some other doll/toy/adult's hand is mimicking their shoulders. I have been in contact with the distributor to push for a fix as I do firmly believe it is a real safety issue.
Good gravy that baby is darling.
Thank you so much for the information!
tnx, it was helpful 🙂
What car seat are you using in the video?
Cybex AtonQ. If you were to buy a Cybex, we recommend the Aton2 as the straps are easier to tighten on the child on the Aton2 than on the AtonQ.
you. are. awesome.
Nice video!
Thank you
Most helpful video on car seat. You are a teacher.
thought the baby was a doll
