Starting living a lie for so long he forgot who he was. He remembers being sephroiths partner on the mission back to his hometown. But he’s really the motion sick guy with his helmet on. And keep his helmet on in his hometown because he’s ashamed he’s not 1st class solider. So he remembers vital details about things that happened at nibbleheim. But Tifa doesn’t remember him being there. So when cloud starts talking about the events of that day. Tifas like………(you weren’t there homie!!) but she stays quiet. Afraid he’s not really cloud.
"Starting living a lie for so long he forgot who he was." not exactly. Cloud and Zack were trapped in mako tanks under Shinra Mansion for like 4 years together. Zack broke out, then got Cloud out but he was catatonic. Between this, the trauma of what happened at Nibelheim, and seeing Zack murdered in his brief moment of lucidity, he lost himself. He was indeed "living a lie" but not intentionally. Cloud truly believes he was in SOLDIER.
I’m currently playing the original on steam. I’m a little upset they changed the battle system to being so active on this one. If they changed materia at all they messed up as well.

PC version comes out really soon. If you are able, I'd suggest playing it there because it will be much better visually.

This is the 2nd part of the remake... the first was Retrograde, the second is Rebirth
