- With ONE simple bread dough, and some GARLIC BUTTER the possibilities are endless. Let these ideas become the foundation, of all your garlic breads to come. Have fun.
Dough:
250g Strong White Bread Flour
3g Dried Yeast
160g Room Temperature Water
4g Salt
Butter:
250g Soft Butter
3 cloves of garlic, peeled and finely grated
1-2 tbsp chopped thyme leaves
Pinch of sea salt

Yes! I’m ‘that person’ too. Following recipes is painful for me, but I’m learning. Been an improv cook all my life, but always looking for new tools. I feed my Mom now, and that has really upped my cooking game.
Jack, making my 8th batch of your basic bread, the kneading finally came together! Still working on the oven temp. I got a digital scale, huge difference. My flour is never as fluffy as what you use. I use King Arthur organic bread flour. It seems pretty moist.
As always, thanks for what you do. My favorite thing is that you ask us to explore instead of trying to act like some master guru with all the answers. Which ironically, you tend to be.

I just made this bread. I made the first one with the twisted loaves. And let me tell you , it is the best garlic bread I’ve ever eaten. Delicious! And so easy to make. Thank you!!!
Jack, I preordered your book and received it the day it was released. Since then I have made many of the recipes, I want you to know how much I love how they turned out. They were absolutely delicious ! My family is constantly asking me to make your garlic bread and garlic butter. I think at this point I have made the garlic bread 40 times to the point that I now keep the dough and the butter in the freezer. I am a big fan of your RUclips channel as well as your news letter. I have been baking bread for a few years now but I am still learning and I have learned so much from you, but the best thing so far was not using flour on your work surface when you’re needing your dough. Thank you Jack for all of your hard work that you put into your videos and for all the wonderful work that you put into your book I really appreciate all that you do for those of us that are watching.

The garlic butter with cheese and herbs was a staple in the restaurant. We'd slice a small baguette horizontally, slather it with the butter and grill it on the flattop. It's really delicious on pasta or gnocchi too.

Hi Jack. Made your garlic bread, the cheese stuffed twisted variant. I used parmasan and mozzarella and probably too much cheese. Well, if that is even possible. Just wanted you to know it turned out delicious and earned the approval of my wife and mother in law. Definitely a keeper. I even sent you a picture. Made the first garlic bread today. Amazing! So delicious and added tonnes of extra garlic.
I tried this using roasted garlic and King Arthur white wheat. Thanks to you for teaching PRINCIPLES, I knew that I would have to add more water. I think I was around 10% additional water. It tasted great!

A little (seriously, a little, for that quantity maybe a couple grams max) garlic powder (not garlic salt) in the butter can add a little more depth to the garlic flavor. One way or the other this looks terrific.

I've made the garlic knots and they are amazing. I serve them with a ramekin of marinara sauce for dipping. I'm making the first recipe today and the cheesy dinner rolls, a double batch for Thanksgiving.

I tried an 8th garlic bread. I rolled out the dough flat and then spread out a butter and cheese on top. Then rolled up and cut spirals like cinnamon buns. Then I baked it similarly to cinnamon buns. I probably should have greased the bottom of the pan or put more butter on when I spread it out since it stuck quite a bit once baked. I also think I baked it a bit too long as the crust was a bit too crispy for my taste for this type of bun. Tasted pretty. Especially with my home grown garlic!

I’ve never been one for monkey bread, either, but I’m attracted to “tear and share” recipes. I just realized while watching this - that’s what monkey bread is! This looked so yummy I think I’ll make it for dinner with my granddaughter tonight.
She professes to not like bread*, but if it’s tempting enough, she’ll occasionally forget herself and have some. I’m guessing this’ll do the trick.
* (I have a theory on this but it’s too long-winded)

I made the version at the end of the video where you roll up 16 balls of dough and frame it with strips of cheese. It was the best garlic bread I have ever tasted and the recepie was excellent. You can't go wrong. FAB-U-LOUS darling!

Love these ideas Jack and will make some for our Thanksgving. I have a tip for baking with steam. I've scalded myself a couple of times pouring boiling water into the cast iron pan in my oven, so read that you can use ice. Tried it and it works great..... just dump a bunch of ice cubes into the pan and close the oven. Lots of steam!
I love your vidoes- these suggestions all look mouth-watering delicious! Im not a super big fan of Thyme. What other herb would you suggest instead?
