Don't let someone who's criticizing your vid because you didn't catch a musky deter you. There was still great footage and good commentary showing the reality of the grind
JB Rattler Thanks dude! I would've loved to have gotten one (or more) of those fish in the boat, but just being able to make contact with that many fish was certainly cool! I appreciate the kind words!
I just ordered the spro king daddy frog, 3.5”, 1 ounce with gamakatsusize 6 frog hook. Really hoping to get a bite on it here in eastern pa. I usually only catch one musky per year (not exactly an expert fisherman) and I got one this past Sunday so I’m hoping to double my years average 🤣
I'll bring you a chrome Moss Boss this winter at a Musky Expo. As I've always said, some action is better than nothing... keep casting and filming! I'll keep watching! Whether you land one or not...it's called musky fishing, not shopping!
Bro. I’ve got the lure for you!!!!!....Jst came back from my first ever trip to Wisconsin and I can’t stop talking about the lure. The reason is I come from a tournament bass background so I’ve fished acres n acres of lillypad and heavy grass. (You’re either flipping of throwing a frog....no other option). So when I was invited to a Dadson event I found out that the lodge we where going to was on Wilson Lake In Phillips. Very shallow and HEAVY Vegatation. We don’t have that in PA Musky river so I had no clue. Saw the boilermaker spinnerbait and grabbed one. Felt like a gimmick but why not. Bro I fished it NONSTOP for 4 straight days. Hands down the best slop bait design I’ve ever used. Especially for pads. Whole trip i bombed that thing into the heaviest pads I could find and maybe got fouled 3 times. Amazing. When it hits a pad it flips sideways and the second there’s is available water it starts to churn again. I’ve thrown a lot of diff baits over the years and I can’t remember any one design I’ve been more impressed with
Angling Anarchy I’m not exaggerating one bit. I’ve told anyone who will listen since I got back lol. Jst have to experiment a lil on your rod tip height during the retrieve. That and really engage the second it hits the water/pads. (I’m sure you don’t need lessons lmfao😆)
I've seen some huge muskies in the slop on my local lake. Hard to catch, though! Ever thrown a Renegade Bullfrog (basically a giant Moss Boss)? I got one but haven't thrown it much.
ibanez2010 Never tried the Renegade Bullfrog. Might have to check that out! I definitely need some more weapons for trying to pull these fish out of heavy cover though!
I have the yips on my home water, the Fox Chain. I haven't boated a fish in a long time. I went up to the Park Falls, Wi area 2 weeks ago and I got 5 in the boat over 2.5 days of fishing, including a solid 45.5" fish. I come back home and I can't get one besides a short last week. I'm going to give it a go for a couple hours after work tonight. #MuskiesSuck
I tried to watch this video 3 times today. Each time I clicked on it to watch I stopped because I was just to tired to stay awake and went to bed instead. I finally made it. The last time I tried to watch I was only able to leave that other comment before going to bed. lol That frog ideas was a good one. It almost worked. I like when anglers think outside the box and try new approaches. How come you didn't fish the Leech Lake RUclips muskie battle with Lee, Robbie, and Heidi?
The Lonesome Fisherman I hope you got some rest! We've employed the scum from tactic on a few other Northern WI lakes, but it had been awhile so I was excited to try it again! Jeff from Just Keep Casting invited me to the musky battle, but I had a wedding to go to that weekend. Wish I could've made it!
@@AnglingAnarchy I have a lot of sleep problems. I only mentioned it because of being frustrated in trying to watch your video. Yeah, fisherman shouldn't have family obligations to get in the way of fishing. You can tell them I said so!! lol
Grizzly-Outdoors Speed is usually a better trigger to get muskies to hit, which is why I probably fall back on that more than anything. It may be hard to see in the video, but I do an occasional hesitation with the bait. It's so subtle that its almost imperceptible. I also try to move the rod tip back and forth once I see a fish following the bait. This does 2 things, it gives the bait a slight directional change and it speeds up then slows down the bait as it goes from side to side.
I know chas had always said with a fish following a top water bait like that a quick pause or twitch can turn the fish off a lot of times, he mentioned keeping it slow and steady. Now I know that doesn't apply to every fish but I have been guilty of doing a lot of that because I get too excited and do something dumb. It's a lifelong learning curve. That dark water didn't help you either!
"if at first you dont succeed just take the boat to the middle of the lake and pull the plug" i died laughing, subscribed. you do an awesome job handling them fish. really like the video of your buddy getting his first top water musky, i still am working on getting my first top water fish, im a shore fisherman i had a massive ski swim on to shore one foggy morning after a one of those weird looking creepers with the prop in the back. any tips for actually getting the bite?
HookKickJack I'm glad you enjoy the vids! Usually for a topwater follow I'd say try something more subtle and slower, but creepers already fit that bill lol. I'd say try a walk the dog style topwater maybe. Good luck out there!
Hey what prop and wtd top waters were those? Are they the big mommas or twisted sisters can't remember....they're awesome tho I def am getting one of each
@@AnglingAnarchy awesome! I really really like the sound of the prop bait and the action on the walk the dog was really surprising and they look light they are weighted well the problem with the giant jackpots is there so light they get Beach balled a lot of the times
Always fun to watch Brian! No matter if you put fish in the net or not, I have enjoyed all your videos and I’ve learned ALOT from watching.. thank you for that and keep grinding bud!!
#1 rule w/Pike and Muskie, don't stop the lure and figure 8 at the boat. I never believed the figure 8 until I used it. 99% Muskie caught on figure 8 and fast retrieval. Pike fast/m-slow retrieval. Don't use Bass methods for pike and muskie.
I'm definitely no expert, or trying to talk crap, but if you keep missing them, wouldn't it make sense to slow down the retrieves and back up/cast further for longer retrieves?
Why would any fisherman holler and scream while fishing? I was taught to keep as quiet as possible! Sound travels like crazy on the water! Hunt fish like you are hunting anything else, my dad said!
Last time I was teased that much I was in High School. Seriously tho way to keep grindin.
Derek Olson lol Best comment so far 🤣
I have had a miss or two that keeps me up at night. Keep at it, that next one catch will make it all worth it.
I think I may have went back to that smaller frog after follows on the bigger topwaters.Great video. Who makes that frog paddletail bait?
wramsey193 Thanks! The frog I was using is called the Booyah Toadrunner.

I’ve been tossing my weagle out into thick weed pads and doing pretty good so far, great video man!
DopestLocust Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
Shhhhhh don't tell anyone. Barely anyone throws walk the dog type topwaters anymore and I've had the craziest action and blow ups on them.
V Tek I've noticed a lot less people using them as well!
Love that lake. Ever go to any of the other lakes over there? Got my PB 48.5” at a small clear lake down the street
Shaun Dekker Yeah we fish all those lakes right there. My buddy's cabin is about 10 mins from them. Lotta good stuff there 😉
Gots to have nads to keep it that cool during a day of misses! We’ve all been there😪
All though I feel for you, it did put a little smile on my face. Bin there, done that ;-)
