Wireless Packet Sniffing!!! Tracking vehicle Tire Pressure Sensor data with Jared Boone and open source software defined radio. Plus, eavesdropping on Verizon CDMA phones with a hacked femtocell - Doug DePerry and Andrew Rahimi of ISEC Partners. All that and more this time on a very special Toorcon 2013 edition of Hak5.

Next time use a dynamic mic like a SM58 when out on the street. They aren't expensive and you don't have to apply such heavy noise reduction in post.
Not all cars transmit TPMS data. Some use what's called "indirect" TPMS, which uses the ABS wheel speed sensors to detect discrepancies that would imply a tire had low pressure. It's not as accurate or useful as "direct" TMPS, but it's cheaper and easier for manufactures since it piggybacks on existing hardware.
You guys should have the github in the description. Now I have to go back and find it lol
Wireless E911 is a FCC mandate that requires cellular phone companies to provide location data for the origin of an emergency call to the appropriate 911 call center. The initial phase of this mandate required that 95% of a provider's in-service phones must provide locating capabilities by December 31, 2005. E911 Phase II required that cell phone location could be determined to 50 - 300m accuracy when requested by a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).
True and very scary stuff. I've heard of cases where local cops tracked cell because of an expired car inspection. Funny thing is 'normal' people refuse to believe it.
Where's the other half of the video on hacking wireless tire sensors?? That's an interesting thing
wtf. Tire pressure is only one small aspect of the safety of a tire. You could have a bald tire with no tread left, and an unbalanced wheel, but perfect tire pressure.
Am I the only one that noticed "Giant robotic twerking coconut"? @ 9:37
I value the information you guys present in your video but please connect that handheld mic.
Which dongle is that exactly? I know I've seen that one before.
XD this is from 2013! I was wondering why they decided to add the trivia back... XD
Which RTL-SDR is that bro?
awww was the girl at the beginning of the clip scared of the camera? You know what we do with people that are scared of things?.....Give them a chance for personal growth!
Pentode, rf/if stage
smart meters ?? could watch out for u. befor u leave for work
Where was the car tracking?
It's very hard to implement. The tpms ID's are not registered to the vin#.
Can't you gust Jam it.
Aww, I was hoping this was gonna be about track cars having their tires deflated remotely by an attacker and crashing. :(
Hey Darren quick question. ive seen a lot of videos of people saying they can hack Skype easily is this true? is it really as easy as downloading a program?
what do he have in his neck....
What the fuck is that guy doing with a mac??
He writes code and hacks things
Who is the girl in the beginning that covers her face? If she didn't cover her face, I wouldn't care... XD
