Hi, I just changed the tub bearings(using the kit)and am getting a constant up code at around the 8 minute mark when the drain/spin cycle tries to spool up. What should I check? Model# WTW8500BWD. I BOUGHT THE WASHER & dryer late 2015 or early 2016. Thank you, Steve Probelski
I have found a few things. When I do a bearing job. I started replacing the suspension kit with it also. With all the playing down etc. Make sure the stator isn't cracked. Hall sensor. Or also called speed sensor. Maybe failing at that speed.
I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio top-load washer in 2009. Is it worth trying to save because of its age? I hate to throw it out without trying to revive it first! But I don't want to pay a technician a couple hundred dollars when a new one might be the better solution. It works for the first 14 minutes of a 42-minute cycle, then it stops with an oL code. I hit the pause button, open and shut the lid, hit start, and it starts back up again. It then stops a few minutes later, tub full of water, with an F51 error flashing code. I power down and the washer drains completely, except the clothes are still pretty water-logged. So I restart it using the Drain and Spin cycle. It doesn't make it through the entire cycle before it throws a uL error code. But at least the clothes are fairly water-free (but still not ideal). I don't know where to start. I was an aviation electronics tech in the navy and then an electrician for a couple years afterward, so I'm not incapable! But I don't know appliances or things with motors in them!
I have this washer, with the “ul” code. I replaced the motor stator first. Now I just replaced the suspension rods, still shuts off at the spin cycle giving me the “ul” code, what do I do now 🥺 -Jennifer (Maryland)
How do you know when it's time to replace the suspension rods on a Cabrio washer. I tighten up the bolt at the bottom of the tub, and the OLlight stop coming on. It's coming on again, you think the suspension rods need replacing if so how can you tell.
Hello DC, I replaced the suspension rods on my Cabrio washer. I moved the clothes around in there and and the still still comes on. Can it be the washer rotor position sensor ? Please help or it looks like I might have to get a new washer, if so what are some good washers. Thank you for your help.
My machine kept giving me a OL error code, and all I did to fix mine was add clorox to the cleaning cycle as recommended by the user manual and it started working properly again. I cleaned it (4) times to make sure it was really clean. I would suggest trying this before you call to get it repaired. Just saying.........

I have issue with my cabrio washer. I am getting a F54 error code with it gets to the spin cycle at the end. Was wondering what that could be? It is showing friction, I have checked between the tub and the outer area and there is nothing in there to block the spinning of the drum. I am going to remove the center screw of the drum to see if it has anything under there. my model is WTW6200VW0. I have ran it through the manual diagnostic mode and when I try to do spin it errors out and throws up a 0L error code.
I'm planning on diagnosing this myself (I should add that I have not repaired many appliances but right now it's sitting in my garage doing nothing, so I don't have much to lose). I wanted to try cleaning the white thing at the bottom of the tub. How can I get the white thing apart to try and clean under it or see if maybe that's the issue? I'm wishing you were in Ohio right now so you could come fix it for me!
Okay so ours for the last few months has gotten much much louder in the spin cycle! It has still worked and completed loads but just been extremely loud in the spin like a bearing or something is out....and here the last couple weeks now its squeking too while spinning along with being way louder than it used to be and now as of today its giving us a uL code nonstop and will not complete the load! So what is the issue with our that needs to be fixed?...i know nothing about washers but im pretty handy so dont really want to overpay someone to come fix it if i can figure out exactly what needs fixed...Thanks in advance for any info!
@@DCApplianceRepair hey could you possibly also tell me what is causing our fabric softener and bleach slots both to stay full of water making them unusable!?... I figured I might as well fix those too while I have this thing tore apart
I replaced a cracked stator and a suspension kit at the same time. I didn't originally grease the rings on the stator again. I also put a lot of pressure on one of the suspension rods beacause I didn't realize the tub could be pushed out to make it easier to install the suspension. At this point, it had a hard time with heavy loads, but could handle lighter loads. I ordered a new suspension kit and replaced it with our applying any pressure to any of the springs so I wouldn't damage them. I also applied some grease to the metal rings on the stator while I had the machine turned over. Now it's worse than before.i replaced the suspension and now I'm completly confused. Any advice?
I see advice was NOT given. That's a problem with these videos. I, too, replace the stator on my Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6300SW1 and my machine will not spin at all now. I've seen that the machine needs to be recalibrated - to recognize new parts. My machine will not recalibrate. I've spent 2 hours unplugging ad plugging it back in, trying all the different ways to turn the dial etc...and still, no lights come on showing it's in recalibration mode. Called Whirlpool with NO HELP in tech support. Wish someone could show me the proper steps for this model.
Oh man. I"m about to replace the basket hub kit. Because when trying to finalize the spin, It Stops at 1 minutes and shows me OL code. If it doesn't work. Then I'm going to turn the machine down, so that i can check the stator. If its crack, I'm not going to missed with it. Since you've mentioned needs to be recalibrated. @@kim1726
Hi there... I have a 2007 whirlpool Cabrio with 2 problems. a water leak underneath & washing cycle stops with a uL code (& an oL code). But when I open the lid to rebalance the load, all the lights go out & there's still water on the clothes. I switch it to 'drain & spin' to get water out, take out wet clothes & I tipped washer over. I got a 1/4" allen wrench & took off the that first big plastic thing & the plastic Stator thing had 2 cracks in it. It doesn't make sense that that would be the water leak problem, but perhaps a new stator would fix the uL/oL code problem? Thank you for any help or advise.
Spin the wash plate in the middle, if your tub turns with it, then that's good. If not you need the hub in the center It has a plastic key in it. Cheap $15.00 or so. After changing Suspention kit, rps sensor. When it comes to this point they are no good. It's hard to diagnose.
@@DCApplianceRepair thank you. I got an after market suspension kit and it was shit. I got a kit from whirlpool and the problem seems to be fixed. I appreciate your feed back!

I have a whirlpool cabrio triple loader about 10 years old never had a problem until I had to store it at a friends for the last year. Recently moved and first time I used it went thru wash cycle without agitating and then went from 28 min left to final spin with 4 min left. It drained but did not spin, shut off and displayed oL code. Does the same if you put in rinse and spin but if I put it into drain and spin it works fine. I have already replaced the Control Board and the Motor Rotor Position Sensor with Harness, did not help.....Help please,
Does anyone know WHY THE STATOR CRACKS? I've got one cracked. I drilled the ends of the cracks to prevent them from getting worse and JB-plastic welded them together (might try a plastic welder, not sure if the plastic is compatible.) But it is working. It previously sheared one of the main phase wires off which is why it stopped working altogether (so someone sold me it for $25!!!). It wobbles a little at high speeds but not horrific. Still, I'm searching to see if this is normal or I need to fix the tub side or suspension.
After watching this vid I think this may be my problem. I was given a carbio and the woman that gave it to me said she was getting the UL code and it wasn't draining properly. She had a mechanic look at it and he told her it was indeed the drain pump. But from what I know about these particular washers, an unlevel drum will not allow the motor to spin in high gear. Thus not spin fast enough to spin all the water out of the clothes properly. I was thinking of using the JB Weld on the stator. I'm glad I seen you did this and it worked out great so now I know I won't be wasting my time.....lol
Mine is still running! My wife absolutely loves the washer. It gets clothes almost dry before you even put them in the drier. So the drier runs for like 15 minutes. I bought a similar year drier and all it had wrong was the heating element.
All the parts for this washer are pretty inexpensive to begin with. $40 bucks here, $60 bucks there, etc. I don't mind investing less than $100 bucks to get a washer that costs over $500.
I have Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum 8500, when its in the spin cycle it sounds like someone is beating the crap out of it, like if there's a brick in there and when this happens I check it and all the clothes is evenly spread out around the basket. A couple days ago when I washing some clothes, I walked past it and noticed that the display had OL, so I thought "OL thats probably overload" checked it, I didnt have alot of clothes in there like maybe like 3 pairs dickies work clothes (socks, pants, and shirts). Why is my washer all out of wack?!?!
We're having the same issue over here. I wish I knew if it needs to be cleaned or if something more serious. Looking for solutions online and I came across your message. Glad to see we're not the only one with the same problem. Did you get yours fixed, if so, what was the problem?
MrCougar214 I had the issueof the tub wobbling in the final spin cycle, replaced the rods/suspension. I still get the uL code and it didn't seem to make a difference.
Hi! Thanks for your video. The UL code comes up for just about every load and stops. Frustrating! I hear something rattling when it's spinning at times and suspect it might be a coin or something. I even ran the machine with nothing in it and the UL code still came up. Is there a video on how to pull out the washer tub? Thanks.
I have a Maytag Bravos. Several months back it sounded like a jet taking off during the spin cycle. Today, I spun the inner tube and the it felt rough with a squeaking noise. Being a mechanic, I know when there is a bearing failure such as in a water pump or alternators. What puzzles me is that the washer displays a "SD" code when I have the machine in the Drain and Spin cycle and the inner tub barely spins. I also noticed that in the Drain and Spin cycle the wash plate will not agitate smoothly. Also, during the wash cycle, the inner tub begins to spin then a UL code appears and the washer stops. If I replace the bearings, what else should I look for? Of course, I will look for the stator damage. Is there anyway to check the mother boars and the RPS sensor? Thanks and best wishes! ~J.Hernandez, Pismo Beach, California.
Make sure the stem is secure and straight. You should have gotten a new stem with the bearings. Make sure the bolts that hold the motor is secure but don't over tighten! Wait a while so the liquid seal that's applied to the shaft and outer tub is dry. Then put the machine on spin cycle or rinse and spin. It should complete the cycle without a code display.
I have a cabrio agi that keeps giving the ul code when it does the final spin. This machine also sounds like a jet when in spin mode. Could the ul code be due to bad bearings?
whirlpool cabrio wtw6600sw2 UL code when in spin. If the stator being cracked is usually the case then why when I was searching for better deals on one are ALL I could find were cracked but guaranteed to work? Anyone?
Jesus! Replaced suspension, control board , bearings and tub seal. Problem says ul code n mid spin at a certain rpm even without a load. The stator is supposed 2 b a driver for the motor so it wouldnt spin at all correct? ANYONE at all
pull your stator and motor check the hex nut that is holding your driveshafte to the tub bearing. the motor is bolted to the tub and the stater (has magnets) goes around your motor you stator should most definitely spin.

I just changed the tub bearings(using the kit)and am getting a constant up code at around the 8 minute mark when the drain/spin cycle tries to spool up. What should I check? Model# WTW8500BWD. I BOUGHT THE WASHER & dryer late 2015 or early 2016.
Thank you,

I have found a few things. When I do a bearing job. I started replacing the suspension kit with it also. With all the playing down etc. Make sure the stator isn't cracked. Hall sensor. Or also called speed sensor. Maybe failing at that speed.
Just tore mine down, found the cracks, can you just replace the plastic piece or do you have to replace the whole thing
Whole things sorry for late responce been busy!
Will a stator cause no spin no agitate .also kicks o l code
It can. You would have to properly diagnosed it. There are a few other components that can play a role.
Now I just replaced the suspension rods, still shuts off at the spin cycle giving me the “ul” code, what do I do now 🥺

Hi i have whirpool cabrio whit ol code what it posible to be?and how much it cust to fix?
How do you determine if it is the rps?
Legendary!
How do you know when it's time to replace the suspension rods on a Cabrio washer. I tighten up the bolt at the bottom of the tub, and the OLlight stop coming on. It's coming on again, you think the suspension rods need replacing if so how can you tell.
Push down on the tub. If it bounces like an old car that needs shocks. Then you need springs. But if it's right it want bounce .
@@DCApplianceRepair thank for your prompt response
Hello DC, I replaced the suspension rods on my Cabrio washer. I moved the clothes around in there and and the still still comes on. Can it be the washer rotor position sensor ? Please help or it looks like I might have to get a new washer, if so what are some good washers. Thank you for your help.

My machine kept giving me a OL error code, and all I did to fix mine was add clorox to the cleaning cycle as recommended by the user manual and it started working properly again. I cleaned it (4) times to make sure it was really clean. I would suggest trying this before you call to get it repaired. Just saying.........
Great info. Just like changing oil in your vehicle. Machine have preventive maintenance that is recommend.
How do you get it to the cleaning cycle?
@@infocuscareers Begin procedure
1. Open the washer lid and remove all items from the washer.
2. Add liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach dispenser.
■ Add 1 cup (250 mL) liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach
dispenser.
NOTE: Do not add any detergent to this cleaning cycle.
Use of more than 1 cup (250 mL) of bleach will cause
product damage over time.
3. Close the lid.
4. Press POWER.
5. Turn cycle control knob to CLEAN WASHER cycle.
■ The Estimated Time Remaining display will show
approximately 60 minutes.
6. Press START.
■ The cycle will begin and water will dispense in the washer for
a moment and pause, then the lid will lock and the cycle will
continue.
■ Once the cleaning cycle has begun, allow the cycle to
complete. An estimated cycle time will appear on the display.
■ If the procedure does not sufficiently improve the machine
freshness, evaluate your installation and usage conditions for
other causes.
I hope this helps......
What is the tool you referenced to make it easier to remove the tub?
A small car jack and a 2x4x20 will work, no need to buy the tool for $180!

I have the same exact problem ul code and water leak. Can you please share how you fixed it? Thanks

Mine keeps throwing the UL code when there is 6 min left in the cycle? I installed new bearings and shaft. New springs?
Spin the wash plate in the middle, if your tub turns with it, then that's good. If not you need the hub in the center It has a plastic key in it. Cheap $15.00 or so. After changing Suspention kit, rps sensor. When it comes to this point they are no good. It's hard to diagnose.
@@DCApplianceRepair thank you. I got an after market suspension kit and it was shit. I got a kit from whirlpool and the problem seems to be fixed. I appreciate your feed back!
After market kit pulled the tub up to high.

Chris Katko think it's a design flaw. I do t think anyone is happy with their cabrio. is yours still working after the "fix"?
Still running fine!
If everything else is normal but the spin cycle is making the drum wobble allot then your problem is the rod/suspension needs to be replaced.
MrCougar214
I had the issueof the tub wobbling in the final spin cycle, replaced the rods/suspension.
Thanks.
Hello. I am having the exact same issue. Did you figure out what was causing this?
DC Appliance Repair Any suggestions?
Did you fix it?
Yes, replacing the bearings fixed everything.
@@toltec13 mine was noisy and replace the bearings and now shows me UL when I put in on drain and spin cycle
Make also sure that center bolt on the motor is also secure but not over tightened.
I just tore my cabrio apart and found a stripped hub gear to be the issue for my ul codes.

pull your stator and motor check the hex nut that is holding your driveshafte to the tub bearing. the motor is bolted to the tub and the stater (has magnets) goes around your motor you stator should most definitely spin.

It makes a little squeaking noise almost like a grinding or rubbing every now and then. i was able to move the machine around a little and sit on top of it enough to keep it stable while it finished spinning but it still shakes terribly bad even sitting on top of it. i've just had it with this machine and i don't know what else i can fix on it!
