are quinceaneras only for catholic mexicans? thats what my christian mexican mother told me! I looked it up, and im not catholic or religious at all, but i am mexican. would it be disrespectful or bad if i were to have one?
ofc not, you can choose to have a ceremony for us catholics we choose to have a nice ceremony in the church, but you can have a quince either way :)
I don’t think so my dads sister which is ofc my Tia she’s Christian and she wanted to throw my cuz a quince but never did sadly so I would say they are for both but I’m not sure about the classes.
A quince is a celebration for young girl's transition into womenhood. Such as Mary the Virgin being pregnant with Jesus when she was around 14-15. So since Mary is a prominent figure in the Catholic faith, many often say that only Catholic Mexicans can celebrate a quince. A quince is based on Catholic faith, but I don't think that you can't celebrate. You should be able to celebrate your 15 in a special form anyway, since for the rest of the world, it's just another birthday. 😭 It just holds a special meaning for Catholics. (Also, if you're a Catholic and you're having a quince, you must be a virgin. Half of these girls aren't, so it's not even meaningful. 😓) I hope this helped though, and I also hope you can celebrate your big day!

Do it if you feel like it’s right!! I’m 25% ecuadorian and never grew up there but still am deciding to do a quince and my entire family is so supportive and happy. It doesn’t matter what percentage you are or where you grew up, all that matters is if you feel like you want to have the experience and that it’s worth it to you❤
