The air tickets could be purchased online from Expedia or Trip.com. But air ticket prices depend on seasonality too… some months would be more expensive than others. I went in March so I think it was low season

Nice video! how hard is it to set up a paying method as a foreigner in china (alipay, wechat...)?

Well it is very easy to set up, just normal registration, nothing special. Mostly it works. But sometimes payments possibily fail, and you cannot figure it out in several days. If you call for help, Wechat or Alipay may say it's the limitation of the bank, and the bank may say it's the limitation of Wechat or Alipay. Alipay is generally more reliable than Wechat up to now. But you cannot give up Wechat, since many reservation systems of gardens, museums and galleries only support Wechat.
In case of really bad luck, both Alipay and Wechat fail to bind to.your card, you can use cash. It's illegal to deny cash in China. You can also ask random Chinese in the street to transfer some money to your Wechat account and pay him cash. You can use the money in your Wechat account without binding to a bank card.

      Setting up is quite easy.
For Alipay pay, you just need to download the Alipay app. Under the pay/receive section, you just need to add your credit card details.
For wechat pay, you first need to activate wechat pay under tools. Then you bind the credit card.
And yes, online payment may fail, which I also experienced. Sometimes the QR code of the vendor did not work. So I had to scan the a local person’s personal WeChat or Alipay, then they help me pay.
From my experience, my reservation also failed when I tried to reserve on wechat mini program. The payment got rejected.
In Chengdu, cash was widely accepted, more than I expected. So it is advisable to keep some cash for use. However, the vendors may not have change and would have to transfer to your Alipay or WeChat account instead.

I took less than one hour from getting off the plane, clearing immigration and collecting baggage. So I think you would be fine 👍
