      Buddy, it's not a question of luck. Quitting is the logical consequence that comes after a radical change in your mind. Whenever your mind tells you that it is hard not to drink, you will have a hard time not to drink, but whenever you observe your mind and see that it is automatically and constantly following old, long gone programs, you'll realize that the thoughts you think are a result of these programmed answers of your mind. You'll see that you have the power to overcome these programs and to rearrange your mind, until you say: My mind tells me that quitting is hard, and I might not have control over the thoughts coming up, but I HAVE FULL CONTROL OVER MY HANDS AND MY MOUTH. I begin to see quitting as the easy quest it is. It's not hard, it's easy. Cultivate that thought and your mind will follow. There's no luck needed, there's your power to rearrange your mind. The rest will follow by itself.

    Today is Saturday 13th August 2016, I have been alcohol dependent for 10 years. For the past while I have become sick to death of it and want to stop. I had convinced myself for a long, long time that it would be "too hard" to quit, until I watched this video. Everything you have said makes perfect sense, there is no bullshit, no magic wand, and no patronizing. I love it. I have just poured away the alcohol that was in the house and have written down a lot of what you said. I DO have the power to do this and I have done it. I am 48 years old and have been making excuse after excuse for years about my drinking, constantly thinking about when i am getting my next drink , totally believing that when I sit down with my bottle of vodka and crisps, that this is the only way i can enjoy myself and watch some movies. I literally do not put on a DVD unless I have a bottle of vodka to drink. I have done this to myself, no-one else is responsible. I have been "blaming" an event that happened in my life 10 years ago for all this, constantly going over and over it in my head, day in, day out. I told myself that alcohol is the only way to stop me thinking about it, Its not, the alcohol is compounding it. I had all but given up on myself, not caring if I have put on stones in weight, not caring if I lived or died. well NO BLOODY MORE. I will never, ever, ever, shove that damn poison in me again, and no matter how hard and loud my alcohol monster screams and shouts, I am going to keep watching this video to drown the bastard out. A huge thank you for this video, I mean thatxx

    I stopped drinking for 10 weeks through watching Kevin videos. This was the first time in 17 years I'd managed over 3 weeks. I slipped back into drinking and a year and half later I'm back watching him as from yesterday hopefully I stay sober forever.

      I can tell you how to be completely free from it as well as any other addiction. Don't get me wrong, I'm not pushing religion or anything. I was an alcoholic and drug addict for 15 years. I even ended up homeless and in a mission. One day I dropped down and gave my heart to Christ and He changed my whole way of thinking. He gave me a reason for life once again. He's real and He's such a loving creator, once you really get to know Him, you find all He wants to do is help you.

I know it's up to me as I'm the one physically drinking the stuff but mentally I can't face not having a drink. I get scared and always get drink. I feel it's my best friend but I know it's my worst enemy. I hope to get this demon out my life at some point. Well done to anyone who has managed it.

    25 yr old female here i was drinking everyday woke up would drink, drink of choice tequila I wanted a hit fast then keep slowly drinking all day to keep that feeling up
    2 days ago we got new neighbors in the apartment next door they opened my door to say hi and introduce themselves and to tell me to keep my music down as I was keeping their 6month old baby awake I replied back to them I don’t care and he said is this how your going to start our relationship he tried to haggle with me to hit turn the music down a little and I pretty much was being sarcastic talking back and being so rude I was drunk at the time and just over these 2 days I’ve realized how much of an ass I was im so embarrassed I’ve apologized profusely so today is Day 3 if being sober I have cravings and this video has helped 10 fold I’m drinking coffee as a replacement know it’s not the best but still better then alcohol

    I think it's important to understand that there won't be a specific time that passes where you won't think about alcohol. Those cravings might not ever go away, some people break sobriety because they carry this notion that they've "won" already when in actuality the disease is dormant and under the right circumstances it will present itself again. I think its more important to understand that addiction will more than likely follow you for the rest of your life, it's something that you'll have to deal with for a long time, and you have to have the tools to deal with it at each stage of sobriety no matter how long it's been.

    • @truthsquad7948
      @truthsquad7948 4 года назад

      Brett Fitzgerald alcohol is not a “disease”.its the second most addicting drug on the planet besides heroin. After 2 days, the cravings are the worst. After 14 days is leaves the body. Then you can deal with the psychological things that make you want to drink. It’s not disease though.

    Thank you so much for all you videos. I have been a problem drinker for over 20 years, I thought there was only 2 options - drink or go to a 12 step group. I tried AA and it didn't work for me, I had spent years at home drinking and isolating myself so it was hell going to a meeting, not only was I not drunk in a room full of strangers but because I was new I was asked to speak, are you kidding me! Also being made to say that I'm an alcoholic when I deep down didn't believe that was not a good start. I'm so grateful that there are other alternatives offing practical suggestions and hope. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and taking the time to do all that you do :)

    I'm going to try and replace beer with Snapple this weekend. I think I need something refreshing in a bottle that's not alcoholic. Every weekend I tell myself I'm only going to have 1 or 3 beers. Next thing you know, I drank a 18 pack. Moderation has never worked for me and when I do moderate my drinking it's frustrating because my body wants more. It's a lose lose at this point and I'm just done with it.

The results of our own personal reasons why will lead to an amazing, loving, intimate relationship filled with hope and an exciting future. I loved your comment about not doing it for the health or financial gains, as this is indeed bullshit for any sort of sustainable recovery.
    That said, health and finance can really accompany the gut, emotional reason/s behind quitting the booze.
