  • Here is the tutorial for how I made a cardigan on my Sentro knitting machine!
This is the second cardigan I’ve made off of my Sentro and I think I’ve improved the design quite a lot from the last one.
Please note, there is no hand-knitting involved in this tutorial but there is some crochet done to create the trim and cuffs.
I hope you all enjoy it and if you’d like to share your creations with me on TikTok or Instagram (@kims_threads) I would be so happy to see them! :)
There is also a written pattern I've pattern tested on my Etsy for anyone interested in having a size guide:

Thank you for a pattern with actual finishing work done. So many of the sentro videos of garments are just slapped together with no hand-finishing work and end up just looking like a hot mess. Great job, beautiful cardigan.

You look around my age and I LOVE this tutorial because I’ve never come across a pattern for a real clothing item (not a scarf, hat) that I think is really cute and fashionable. I think you might be able to save time on the crochet by following the technique for “flat panels that don’t curl.” Basically it involves doing 5 rows (in this case you would do them in white) and… well I will try to put the RUclips video I saw on this. It actually involves purposefully going back and dropping every other stitch, then crocheting from the bottom up and reattaching. I’ll try to post that video. It might not work for things like the sleeves where you want to cinch it it, but I think it would give an almost identical look to every other white part

Thank you! I appreciate your comment 🥰 and I agree doing ribbing with machine knit stitches is definitely a good way to save time! I would have done the bottom that way but I wanted to have a cinched bottom hem as well! But thank you for your suggestions, hope you have a great day 😊

Beautiful! I love the mix of Sentro knitting and crochet. Great way to make buttonholes.
To decrease, youo could try to move second stitch to third stitch and move first stitch to second position. That way the decrease is not in the seam, making the seam easier, and it is less likely to tuck when you turn.
Also, another way to make a stretchy ribbing, double crochet front post, back post, front post, back post all the way around, adding rounds until you have the width you desire.

    Super cute!
A little variation for you to try, if you don't want to sc all the way around the ribbing to give it a straight, neat edge, what I do is sc through both loops of that end stitch. I tend to do it on both the last stitch of the first row, and the first stitch of the second row (or you can just stick to one or the other depending of how firm you want the ribbing.) I hope that makes sense?!

For the 2 front panels I have some decreases to create the vneck, it might be helpful to watch starting at: 06:23 just to get an idea
After sewing by hand the trim and cuffs are done with a crochet hook, hope that helps!

Think about how acrylic & Vegan clothing doesn’t breakdown, not good for the earth! Think about always trying to reuse items and use cotton, bamboo, wool and leather as they are compostable, silk ok?

Thank you for your comment and I appreciate your message! I do plan to transition to natural fibers in the future but at the moment I'm prioritizing using what's in my stash and also exploring different yarn options.
I hope you can understand where I'm at in my fiber journey and I wish you the best on yours ❤️
